Talk:Emblem

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

Image quality[edit]

A lot of the images on this page are of terrible quality. Plus, is a page like this needed? We can say on each character article what their emblem is. -- Son of Suns (talk)

I think it's quite interesting to know all the characters emblems in just one page. Sorry, but I couldn't find find better images :(

You can contribute to improve this page, if you want. -- tanoomba-chan (talk)

An infobox?[edit]

Do we need an infobox for this? If so, what picture will it have?

We don't need an infobox, but we can put an emblem up there... let me see what we can use. I know I'm a bit inclined to use Mario, but I'm going for another thing. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 22:03, 30 March 2014 (EDT)

Emblem List[edit]

Where did it go? It seems to have disappeared with the most recent edit. Was this on purpose, or was it a mistake? J-Yoshi64 (talk) 17:20, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

On purpose. We have a list of images, so a description is pretty much redundant. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 19:29, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, I don't like the lists bogging down this article. Ideally, I want this article to be a gallery ex-subpage akin to Gallery:Sponsors in the Mario Kart series. But feel free to readd information not covered by the galleries. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:59, 20 September 2015 (EDT)

M&SOWG Emblems[edit]

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, the DS version at least, Emblems are achievements. Should we include this? MP8Mario.pngMarioKid (Talk) Luigi mp8 profile.png 10:10, 26 April 2016 (EDT)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

The MK8D emblems are needed (Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., King Boo, Gold Mario and the Inklings) B ron 3000 MP9 Luigi Icon.png 13:54, 12 July 2017 (EDT)

They're not ripped yet, mostly because as of now, the Switch is unhackable. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 13:56, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
So you're saying it can't be ripped? B ron 3000 MP9 Luigi Icon.png 13:19, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Bowser's Emblem debut[edit]

What was the first game Bowser's Emblem appeared in? This article says Mario Kart DS, but I'm pretty sure it's in earlier games. Thanks Pallukun (talk) 12:27, May 22, 2019 (EDT)

IIRC, it first appeared in Super Mario 64. --Toasty.jpg FanOfYoshi NSMB - Splunkin Model.png 14:18, May 22, 2019 (EDT)
Thanks a bunch :) Pallukun (talk) 21:29, May 22, 2019 (EDT)

Emblems from other games[edit]

I think more emblems should be added here, specifically from:

• Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

• Every Mario Tennis game after the original (Aces, Ultra Smash, Open, Power Tennis)

• Possibly Mario Kart Tour?

Most of those have recycled emblems, but I think representing multiple newer games will make this page more complete. Jackson K. (talk) 14:49, October 25, 2019 (EDT)

The list in this page is supposed to have all uses of emblems, so yes. Super Mushroom Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png Obsessive Mario Fan MK8DX Mario Icon.png 15:10, October 28, 2019 (EDT)

Yes we need the emblems from the newest olympics since for example it has at least one new one like Eggman Nega’s for example 35.136.185.103

Mario Kart Tour Emblem Order?[edit]

Should the emblems be from (Normal-Super-High End) or (Super-Normal-High End)? Currently, they are the former. ReedyBuilder (talk) 18:15, December 1, 2019 (EST)

Normal-Super-High End should suffice. After all, for the Mario Kart Wii page and section on this page, we technically start with the light characters. MarioComix (talk) 03:43, July 23, 2020 (EDT)

Dr. Mario World Placed Last?[edit]

Is there a reason Dr. Mario World is placed after Mario Kart Tour even though it was released first? If it's because the flags were added to Dr. Mario World after the release of Tour, then I could understand. MarioComix (talk) 03:43, July 23, 2020 (EDT)

Does Mario Kart: Double Dash!! actually have emblems?[edit]

I've ripped the textures for each and every kart present in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! so I could add their emblems to the page. Thing is, what exactly are the emblems in this game? Some karts such as the Red Fire have obvious emblem placement, while others like the Piranha Pipe don't at all. Not only that, but you also have the plates in which the second driver stands which have some sort of insignia akin to emblems in them, which often doesn't actually match the emblems for the characters in following games. What do? --Spiny Shell.pngSuperstarxalien169Spiny Shell Reverse.png 10:16, September 5, 2020 (EDT)

I think Mario Kart DS was where karts started to have emblems on them. Master of Masters KHXBC.png Keyblade Master
This very article says that it originated in Mario Kart: Double Dash, after an absence from Mario Tennis, so... --Spiny Shell.pngSuperstarxalien169Spiny Shell Reverse.png 18:50, September 5, 2020 (EDT)
I know every kart has an emblem on the back platform, so that definitely counts. We could just say that certain karts also have emblems elsewhere on the kart body, which would serve as the basis for emblem placement in future Mario Kart games. MarioComix (talk) 18:58, September 5, 2020 (EDT)
I've finished ripping every kart texture and uploading it into The Textures Resource. From here on we can figure out what should count as an emblem for the sake of this page.
whoops, forgot to sign --Spiny Shell.pngSuperstarxalien169Spiny Shell Reverse.png 12:45, September 10, 2020 (EDT)
I'm thinking that the image on the back platform, and every other emblem-like image, should count for our emblem page. It's just that, since it was the first game to use emblems, they're not necessarily consistent with later emblems. MarioComix (talk) 15:38, September 10, 2020 (EDT)
Thanks for uploading these for the Double Dash emblems. I was just wondering if it would be possible to also upload the blue M and green L from the Baby Mario Bros' kart, and the front mustache decal and back platform from the Wario Car? I greatly appreciate the work that you've done to get these textures and emblems uploaded to the Wiki! MarioComix (talk) 23:36, September 10, 2020 (EDT)
I had already uploaded the blue M and green L before, I just didn't include them on the gallery because I could already mention instead that Baby Mario and Baby Luigi reuse Mario and Luigi's emblems respectively, and the color alteration doesn't mean much other than simply having to fit the karts' color schemes.
As for the Wario Car stuff, I don't really think they count as emblems moreso than just the pre-existing design of the Wario Car from WL4: in the case of the front mustache decal, that was already there in WL4, while the back platform doesn't really match the rest of the karts' platforms, it really looks more like a natural extension of the car itself to me, so I'm dubious about it counting as an emblem. I've also uploaded the Parade Kart's platform insignia just in case you also considered that to be an emblem, though maybe we shouldn't include it as every other emblem listing in the article is limited to characters and/or teams of characters. --Spiny Shell.pngSuperstarxalien169Spiny Shell Reverse.png 15:42, September 11, 2020 (EDT)
Oh yeah, I should also note that, at least for the kart emblem section, I'm going for "emblems" that subsequently became actual emblems in Mario Kart Tour; you'll notice that the emblems listed for Koopa, Paratroopa, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Bowser's karts all became actual emblems in Tour, and I'm expecting the same to go with Mario, Luigi, both Baby Mario and Baby Luigi's flower and letter emblems, and Waluigi. While Peach and Daisy's emblem locations probably won't be reused for actual emblems in Tour, they're really the only emblem design they have there, and it matches with the back platform, so I'm counting that as well. --Spiny Shell.pngSuperstarxalien169Spiny Shell Reverse.png 15:51, September 11, 2020 (EDT)
The mustache decal is understandable, I just thought that since it resembles Wario's mustache (which itself is used as his emblem in Mario Tennis Open) that we might add it to the list. I'll still add in the back platform emblems (save the Parade Kart) and the Baby Mario Bros' version of M and L since those platform emblems are the first real instance of proper symbols for each racer (but even this wasn't consistent, due to the shell karts and Barrel Train), whereas the Baby Mario Bros never actually use the red and green M&L in this game. We might want to retroactively apply the current rules (that the Baby Mario Bros generally share their emblem with the adult bros), but this kind of "historical development" should still be noted. After all, Baby Mario never again used his lowercase "m" emblem from Mario Tennis, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't include it here. Again, many thanks for your work in uploading these!
