Angry Petey Piranha:

Petey's Bomb Battle is a boss minigame appearing in Mario Party 10. It takes place in Mushroom Park and pits players against Petey Piranha.

Overview[edit]

Petey drops onto a small raised dais in a plaza, where this minigame takes place. Players must throw bombs at Petey to deal damage. The bombs that each player uses match their player color. Each hit gives the player a point. However, Petey periodically opens his mouth to swallow the bombs that would hit him. After Petey closes his mouth, he spits any swallowed projectiles back to their players. This stuns them and makes them lose one point per bomb. Petey telegraphs this defense by leaning forward as the players throw bombs at him. After counterattacking, Petey may dance for a moment. He cannot open his mouth while dancing.

When Petey loses half of his health, he bites at the air and angrily roars. From this point on, steam rises from Petey's head and the minigame becomes more difficult. Petey opens his mouth much more frequently than before, and he also tries to fake players out by leaning forward repeatedly before actually opening his mouth. On top of this, if Petey spits bombs at players, he sends an additional black bomb at those players. There is a gap between the "reflected" shots and the black bombs, but players do not fully recover before being hit by their black bomb and being stunned again.

Petey takes 130 hits before being defeated, and the final shot grants a five-point bonus. Once defeated, Petey falls onto his back and explodes. The player with the most points wins. If five minutes pass and Petey has not been defeated, the minigame ends in a tie.
