Fake News
Director's Notes (Super Mario Bros.)
Hey guys, SMB here covering for Ralph. We had a bit of a predicament which resulted in Ralphfan not being able to properly direct the Fake News this month, but I decided to come and help by directing the Fake News this month. I can tell you that it was pretty fun directing the Fake News this month, a nice switch-up for me. Don't blame me if the format of this issue's Fake News is a bit different from how it is normally, but I'm doing the best that I can here. Tongue
Normally, a sign-up for empty positions would go here, but I won't do that because Ralph is not able to recieve interviews until... Just about next month's issue. So expect that to be on next month's Fake News.
And a thank you goes to all Fake News writers who were able to get their sections sent to me on such short notice! I'd also like to thank Paper Jorge (talk), who was initially going to make a special comic this issue, although plans fell through and he couldn't for various reasons. Maybe Ralph will be recieving a comic in his inbox next month, who knows? ^_^
Now, to start off with the actual Fake News, here comes Ralph with his Travel Guide (which he sent to me via other means). Smiley
Travel Guide (Ralphfan)
Warm weather is approaching, and most people are enjoying the break from a harsh winter. There are, however, some wackjobs who beg to differ. If you happen to be one of those wackjobs, come spend a weekend at snowy DK Summit! We feature twelve lodges, and freezing temperatures throughout the summer! Better than that, we also have inconsiderate Shy Guys who ski without caring if they crash in to you!
Fake Game: New Super Mario Bros. Wii: The Day I Lost my M (Edofenrir)
We all know it, and the latest games all show it: Nintendo is tired of its various franchises and is secretly trying to throw everything together in a giant melting pot. Now, at the E³ I held in my garage last Saturday Nintendo confirmed that their latest game will follow this trend. After Super Smash Bros. and Mario & Sonic, we get this exquisite pearl of a game: New Super Mario Bros. Wii: The Day I Lost my M, a Wii game announced for 2011. And this game seems to be a bomb, since it combines the universes of Mario and Metroid. You heard right. But what will happen in this game? Will Mario and Samus join forces to beat up space dragons and dragon turtles together? I played this game exclusively for The ’Shroom, because... well, what else should I do? I don’t know.
Edofenrir: Hello readers. Today, while shopping in the Toad Town grocery, I coincidentally ran into Yoshio Sakamoto and Shigeru Miyamoto, the guys in charge of Metroid and Mario respectively, and since they had nothing better to do, they agreed to take part in an interview about their latest game. |
Miyamoto: Man, my head still hurts from that "agreement". |
Sakamoto: Didn’t he just knock us out with a large ham? |
Edofenrir: Ok, I need to remember taking those comments out before the print. Ahem. So, the latest Mario game also features content from the Metroid series. Mr. Miyamoto, what brought you to this decision? |
Miyamoto: Well, you see Mr. Ebonseldy, like I tried to demonstrate in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, creating a good game is like making a cake. First you need to find a good bottom, like "Mario is the hero and saves something". And then you add the ingredients. Common ingredients like "Princess" and "Giant Bipedal Turtle" are good, but sometimes cake bakers get really bored, and then they add something crazy to the mix, like water pumps, dinosaurs, or spaghetti. That’s fun. |
Edofenrir: So in other words: The decision was completely random? |
Miyamoto: Yes. Random makes good cakes. |
Edofenrir: And that works out all the time? |
Miyamoto: Ehh... not all the time. Sometimes you go too far and the whole cake explodes in your face and all over the dirty ground. But a good company is prepared for that. If our cakes explode all over the place, we put the remains together, pour cream and frosting over them, sell the whole mess, and hope people won’t notice the difference. |
Edofenrir: So basically, Nintendo’s success is a giant sticky ball of sugar, frosting, dust from the ground, and cake mixture... with people inside? |
Miyamoto: Yes ^__^ |
Edofenrir: I see... So, Mr. Sakamoto, how do you like Metroid’s inclusion into the new Mario game? |
Sakamoto: I like cake. |
Edofenrir: Oh... uhm... yeeeeeah... I suppose this is the end of the interview. I’d hoped it would be longer, but I have to go buy pancakes before the shops close. Toodle-oo |
Miyamoto: Wait, aren’t you going to untie us before you leave? Hey, come back! Heeeey!!! |
Sakamoto: I really want a cake now... |
Story
Now, the story of this game is somewhat weird. It is about Samus Aran stealing Mario’s Hat, and Mario must get it back. That’s right, Samus is the villain of this game. Now why would Samus do such a thing? The answer lies somewhere else. The game can be seen as a direct sequel to Metroid Other M, yet another Nintendo game that hasn’t been released yet. Now let me elaborate on this. While Yoshio Sakamoto (guy in charge of Metroid) went to the bathroom during my E³, he carelessly left his briefcase unguarded. Being the friendly guy I am I snatched the briefcase to prevent the secret manuscripts inside from being read by nosy fans. So, after nosily reading the secret manuscripts, I uncovered the secret of Metroid Other M’s story, which is essential to get the story of the new Mario game.
A short summary Metroid Other M’s secret story: The game begins during a ferocious battle between Samus Aran and the Space Pirates. Then there are some notes that read "throw in some epic cutscenes to make the game longer". But then suddenly, something unexpected happens: A missile hits the title screen of the game, and breaks the "M" in Metroid. And since "Etroid" is inarguably a really, really stupid name, all of the Space Pirates burst into laughter. Samus, embarrassed for life, vows to find another M to restore her lost honor. Now we know why the game is called "Other M".
Now what does that have to do with anything? The story of the game I am actually reviewing begins shortly after that, with the anniversary of the first day Mario rescued Princess Peach from Bowser. The celebration doesn’t last very long, though, as Samus quickly swoops in, grabs Mario’s hat, and leaves. Her plan is to use the M on Mario’s cap as "the other M". Mario, angered by the cool breeze that taunts his naked head, sets out to chase the intergalactic bounty hunter through the Mushroom Kingdom. While travelling, he must avoid traps, enemies, and also Princess Peach, who somehow has teamed up with Bowser because, in her opinion, Mario is chasing the wrong blonde girl on their anniversary. After Mario confronts and defeats Bowser, Peach, and Samus, he quickly sets a time bomb (don’t ask) and escapes. The time bomb then blows up the entire planet, which struck me as a bit odd when I played that part.
Gameplay
The game mechanics of this game are like those of a 2D platformer. Mario travels from left to right through sidescrolling landscapes. For some reason, though, Mario’s moveset is the same as that of Samus from the old Metroid games, as if their whole engine had just been pasted over a Mario game. Our heroic plumber can even use most of the different weapons of Samus’s Power Suit, despite the obvious lack of said suit. I asked Miyamoto about this, but all he replied was: "Eh... Super Mario is a simple guy; all he cares about is saving the world. And if he needs to shoot missiles from his nose, then he can shoot missiles from his nose. No need for complicated explanations. ^__^"
The game features eight worlds in total, which vary from underground caves, to underground tunnels, to underground labyrinths. The game doesn’t skimp with graphics here, and throws beautiful shades of grey, brown, and black at you. The fauna of these worlds include Mario-esque enemies like Goombas, Koopas, Thwomps, and, for some reason, Metroids. When I asked Sakamoto about the sudden presence of this lifeform in the Mushroom World he replied: "I like Metroids." Regardless of this inconsistency, the game stays mostly true to the mechanics of Metroid, including the famous special reward for players who complete the game very fast. A fellow gamer I interviewed after playing the game praised the ending with the words "Oh my Poochy, if I were you, I’d wait at least 25 hours before completing the game. My eyes!"
Power-Ups
During the game, Mario can find several upgrades hidden in the Mushroom World, including:
Conclusion
This game is weird. Really weird. After completing it, I talked to Shigeru Miyamoto, and he told me that if this game becomes a success, he will make a sequel by mixing even more franchises with Mario to form a colourful Mario glop. How he plans to make a sequel when Mario just blew up the Mushroom World... I don’t know. I asked him, but all the man said was: "What explosion? ^__^". That’s Shigeru Miyamoto for you folks, the man who can eliminate even the biggest plot-holes through sheer narrative brilliance. That or whatever it is called that the guy does.
So, this game can be fun, despite its weirdness. It may occur that you get a headache during the first hours, but then, after the majority of your brain cells die and you start drooling all over the carpet, you begin to ignore the horrendous plot-holes and design errors, and you begin to develop a feeling which could be interpreted as fun. If it is really fun or something worse, I don’t know. The only thing I know is that I should probably see a doctor after this...
Cooking Guide (Baby Mario Bloops)
by Baby Mario Bloops (talk)
Good day, everyone out there, and welcome to the Cooking Guide! This your host, Baby Mario Bloops, and I'm sorry to say that because of budget drop certain reasons, we do not have any special guest.
Today, I am going to show you the best way of how to make the Fire Pop!
By now, you should comprehend the concept of making a more challenging yet more delicious recipe of the product above. Let's begin with what you need:
- A Fire Flower
- A bag of Cake Mix
- A Mixing bowl and spoon
- Water
- A thick piece of string with/without popsicle stick
- A glass jar with a lid
- Something sharp to make a hole
- A pencil
- A working freezer
- Go straight to Shy Guy's Toybox and find the Shy Guy holding the cake mix. Quickly jump him until he gives you what you want.
- Go to the nearest store and buy a fire flower. No challenge there.
- Head back to the kitchen with all the supplies, and get everything set out.
- Put the fire flower and the cake mix in the mixing bowl, and stir until all mushy. Add water and continue stirring until it is a liquid.
- Pour mixture into the glass jar, and set it aside.
- Put a hole in the lid with your sharp object.
- Take the string and poke it through the hole, and then tie it around the pencil. If you are using the stick, make sure that you tie it nice and secure around the base of it.
- Put lid back on the jar, and spin it back on.
- Now wait for about two weeks for the mixture to harden into crystals. In result of the fire flower, it will create the perfect circle that you see on every other kind.
- Once done, and if you use the stick, you have the Fire Pop that you can enjoy, just make sure that you don't burn your tounge on this spicy treat!
Advertisement (Gamefreak75)
This month's advertisement is none other than the *trumpets playing* Starman!
*audience claps and cheers*
HA! Fooled you. It's actually the boring and common Brick Block.
*audience boos and applausing stops*
Yep, it's just an ordinary Brick Block...that has...no special uses or powers...
However, it is completely (or almost) indestructible. It can serve as a table when there is no more when your family members come over. It can serve as a nice and very uncomfortable soft chair. Not only that, but it's also extremely heavy, weighing in about 300 pounds or so. No robber would want to steal anything that heavy, although you may want to rethink about reorganizing your room with that thing. What's even better? It only takes about 20 square feet of space. I know, unbelievable!
This is definitely a unique piece of furniture that everyone in your house would like. We are not responsible for any damages caused to the foundation of your house.
HURRY BEFORE THEY ALL SELL OUT!...which is highly unlikely.
Interview (Baby Mario Bloops)
by Baby Mario Bloops (talk)
Welcome everyone to the latest interview, with your interviewer Baby Mario Bloops! Hope you love everyone's favorite character as he spills his thoughts on everything around him. With no translator as he been learning english lately, give a warm welcome to Yoshi!
Baby Mario Bloops: Easy question, how does it feel to be a main character in both the mario games and your games?
Yoshi: Hmm...hard work!
Baby Mario Bloops: I guess, especially with your new role in Super Mario Galaxy 2. By the way, how is that going?
Yoshi: Not bad, annoying to turn fat when I eat the Blimp Berry.
Baby Mario Bloops: Yeah, but at least you help Mario. What is your favorite power-up in the game?
Yoshi: The Bulb Berry, since I have a halo around me, and that I get to be yellow!
Baby Mario Bloops: That is a cool one. Do you have any spoilers for us about the upcoming game?
Yoshi: All I will say is that it is more challenging and more awesome than before, since I'm in it!
Baby Mario Bloops: Yeah, I can tell. Is Luigi going to be in it.
Yoshi: Probably, Mario and I aren't even finished with our journey yet.
Baby Mario Bloops: Wow, you get to play it yourself!?!
Yoshi: Who is the one that has to carry Mario?
Baby Mario Bloops: Oh! I thought you meant that you were playing it on the Wii.
Yoshi: Oh...well, that too.
Baby Mario Bloops: Well are time is winding down, may I ask one more question?
Yoshi: No problem.
Baby Mario Bloops: What are some of the Mario games that Nintendo is working on?
Yoshi: .........Sorry, got to go now! (Runs out of sight as he sprints away)
Baby Mario Bloops: Not again! Great, now we have to wait until E3 this june. Well, see you all in another long month! Goodbye!
Sports (Ralphfan)
Springtime is upon us once more, and with it comes baseball season! Opening Day was this past Monday, and the season began at sunny Mario Stadium. The Wario Muscles defeated the Mario Fireballs 7-5 in a wild game that featured just about everything imaginable. Thanks to Red Pianta's two-run dinger in the second inning, the Fireballs held a 5-1 lead entering the fourth. The Muscles fervently responded in the bottom half of the inning, pegging two batters and eventually causing a bench-clearing brawl that took five minutes to break up. Once the game resumed, the Muscles were in control. Waluigi struck out seven of the last 19 batters he faced, and gave up only two hits and a walk after the fight. Thanks to three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, the Muscles were able to tie the game at five. Then, Luigi booted a hard-hit grounder, and King Boo was able to cross the plate, giving his team their first lead on the year. Wario brought in an insurance run in the ninth on his first homer of the season, a 400-foot bomb to left-center. Both teams eagerly anticipate their next meeting, which comes in late June.
Characters (LaLaLand123)
You know, to think that all the games I've introduced to you guys, had new characters is CRAZY! However, knowing that the game I'm about to show you has even MORE new characters is even CRAZIER!!! The games is called Super Mario Sailor. It's a 3-D game where you're on a ship with Princess Peach, and she falls off and you must save her! The whole game is under water! In this game, a variety of new characters and enemies appear. One of them is Captain McSail. He's a pianta who helps you find your way around the ocean. He is also the one driving the ship. Then there's Toadude. We all know there's Toad and Toadette, but Toadude is a teenage toad who is very cool. (Well, ToaDUDE) He teaches you special skills to help complete the game. A new enemy is the invisible blooper. This is a hard enemy to defeat because it sneaks up on you when it's invisible and you can't kill it when it's invisible. When it's invisible you'll only be able to see a slight outline of the blooper. Well that's all. The game comes out in 2040 for a system that has not been released yet. APRIL FOOLS!!! (not)
Shop (Travix Man)
This time around, I'm only giving out 2 locations. That's right, LOCATIONS!!!
- 1st item: Bowser's Castle (WHAT?!?! He's surrendering!!!)
- 1st info: It's yours now to get! Rule over the cruddy koopas!!! (only 1!!!)
- 1st price: 1000000000 coins (CRAZY PRICE!!!)
- 2nd Item: Peach's castle (She's surrendering too!!!)
- 2nd Item Info: Rule over the little mushroom mushes!!! Order them! Make them your slaves!!!
- 2nd item price: 10000000 (It's only 1 castle, and again, CRRRAZZZY!!!!)
To actually be honest, I stole them from the two. Why? They would kill me if I did. I did anyways. Bowser's too slow to get me, and peach's carrage would just drop her, first chance they will get.

Director's Notes
Paper Pikachu
Hey everyone, Paper Pikachu welcoming you to Art and Music once again. Not much to say, but we’re missing Homestar Runner’s section, so hopefully we’ll get that sent in and updated. Also, if you’re interested in a job, PM me on the forums (our forums, duh) or leave a message on my talk page.
Soundtrack of the Month (By Paper Pikachu)
For this month’s soundtrack, I chose the Luigi’s Mansion Theme [1] from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's an eerie song, especially at the beginning, but it leads into something much more shocking and even more eerie.
Sprite of the Month (By FunkyK38)
For April, the Sprite of the Month is this sprite: . It shows three colorful Peps from Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. I decided on this one from BiS because it's a good sprite with bright colors, it’s well-animated, and they're fun characters. That is, when you're not fighting them for your life.

NIWA News (Tucayo)
Hello readers, I am your handsome and modest writer, Tucayo! Welcome to the April edition of the one and only NIWA news! This was a relatively calm month, because most of what has happened was just talking, but anyway, I got enough stuff to make a decent section. Here is the news:
There is currently a discussion about whether we should include both versions of the “Hoshi no Kābī/Kirby: Right Back at Ya!” anime (Japanese and American edition, respectively), if we should give priority to either one, and etc. There are some differences between the two apart from the obvious language difference. Some scenes were removed from the American one because they made references to alcohol, guns, etc. Names were also changed and some dialog was changed. There is also the problem of whether we should use the Japanese or English name. I will keep you up to date with anything that happens.
Some days ago we received a response from Smash Wikia addressing a subject we had been talking about. As you may have heard, we staff were working on getting a Smash Wiki done, but then we realized that it may be better to get Smash Wikia out of Wikia so they can join NIWA.
A Smash Wikia crat, Shadowcrest, made this post in the NIWA forums a few days ago. Check it to see his whole response. He talks about the move from Wikia to NIWA and the problems he might find with the userbase. I will keep you informed about everything that happens with these and other matters. Stay tuned!
Tip of the Month (FunkyK38)
Instead of just editing your userpage 24/7, try making smaller edits on the wiki, like spelling and grammar checks. If you edit the wiki more than your userpage, and I mean good edits, not bad stuff, you won't get warnings for editing your userspace too much.
Upcoming Games (Paper Pikachu)
So here we are, another new issue of the 'Shroom, and another new Upcoming Games. Still the only upcoming game is Super Mario Galaxy 2, which has finally been getting new information.First off, a notable element is the lack of a hub world, like the Comet Observatory. Instead, you progress through levels in a side scrolling manner, like you'd see in Super Mario Bros. 3 or New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That Mario-shaped planet, Starship Mario, seen in the previous issue will act like a pseudo hub, and get items, and choose galaxies, as well as interact with various non-playable characters on the small planetoid. Because of the lack of the Observatory, it is unknown if Rosalina will make a return appearance.
Another new element is the Rock Mario form. After the use of a Rock Mushroom, Mario will roll up into a boulder, and can roll around and jump, damaging enemies and crystals, although control is lost in this form. In Boulder Bowl Galaxy, for example, Mario must use this form to fight an armadillo-like boss, Rollodillo. The final new element to be chronicled this issue is the Bulb Berry, an item used no on Mario, but Yoshi. After being used, Yoshi will be covered in light, and light up hidden paths, although it comes at a time limit.
At that note, I hope you enjoyed this Super Mario Galaxy 2 feature, and that's it for Upcoming Games.
Brawl Tactics
What’s up, everybody? It’s Brawl Tactics, with FunkyK38! Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to change my plans for what I was going to do this issue. Sorry, guys. I know you would’ve liked what I was going to do, but I didn’t have enough information to do it. So, I’m going to do the article I was going to do for Christmas: Donkey Kong!
Being one of the heaviest hitters in Brawl, DK packs quite a punch and is actually pretty fast, considering his other appearances in the Smash Bros. series and in the Marioverse. His attacks, when used properly, do major damage with some added side effects that you may not be expecting.
First up: Giant Punch. This is a good move because like Samus’s laser, you can walk around with it fully charged and use it at just the right time. Try a combo of normal A-button attacks, then one of these fully charged up. On a weaker, lighter character, it’s an instant KO.
Next up: Headbutt. This is where the side effects I was talking about earlier come into play. DK’s headbutt is so forceful that it will shove you into the ground. It might be your best bet to play dead and stay there for a minute, or try to struggle and get out. If DK is being controller by someone other than the computer, he probably won’t go away and will attack again, usually with a combo hand slap. Best of luck if you get stuck in that hole- there’s not much you can do until you get out.
DK’s up Special is Spinning Kong. This move works pretty similarly to your other tornado moves, i.e. Mach Tornado, Spin Attack, etc. You can use it as a last minute thing if you’re falling off a ledge, but it’s pretty risky, because DK doesn’t go very far. When using this move on the stage, however, it’s useful when facing multiple opponents that are closing in on you. Try it on the stage, and move DK up and around, taking your enemies with you as you go along.
Hand Slap is basically DK trying to make earthquakes in the ground. When you’re playing a lighter character and DK uses this move, you’ll go flying if you’re not careful. You’ll be defenseless against DK, because he can keep slapping the ground for as long as he wants. He doesn’t turn around, though, so try using teamwork with an ally to get him from behind when he’s not looking.
Konga Beat is one of my favorite Final Smashes to use. You’ve all seen the warning on his page: This move is risky to use on side-scrolling stages. Here’s what you do to avoid that: Go up or to the side that’s scrolling and use it. Don’t get too far from the middle of the stage, though, because you want to get the other characters in it, too. Time slows down with Final Smashes, so don’t worry about him going off the side- scrolling stage. Playing stronger beats takes a little bit of getting used to. Watch DK’s hands, and press the buttons whenever he hits one of his bongos. Once you get the beat of the song, you’ll be able to do it without watching him. The crowd will clap along with the stronger beats, too. How’s that for audience participation?
All in all, Donkey Kong is a pretty good Brawler who packs quite a punch. Try him out if you need to KO some weaker opponents! That’s all for this month, Brawlers. Happy beating!
Interview
Written by Stooben Rooben (talk)
Welcome to April's interview, humble readers. This month's interview arrived just a little late, but that's only because I went through the painstaking process of finding someone around here who was actually interesting enough for an interview.
Uh...yeah.
The Target
This month, I decided to interview long-time 'Shroom writer, Tucayo. He's really a nice person to hang around. Tucayo's been a member for around 2 years, has achieved both Patroller and Sysop status on the MarioWiki, and plays a key role in the NIWA project. (Watch your local news tonight at 10pm to find out more information about this.) Tucayo hails from Mexico, a land full of hot temperatures, American tourists, and tacos. Check out the interview below to find out more about Tucayo.
The Interview
Me: How did you first find the MarioWiki?
Tucayo: Well, it was actually by accident
Tucayo: I was searching an image for a box art I was making
Tucayo: And I came across the MarioWiki's Dimension D image, so I kept using the MW as an image source :)
Tucayo: But as a guest all the time
Me: Interesting. What made you decide to join?
Tucayo: One day, browsing the Main Page, I saw an announcement that said there was a 'Shroom Director Election. I clicked the link to see what this "Shroom" was, I started reading it (actually I think I read all issues) and I signed up to know when a new issue was released :)
Me: And now you're one of the longest-lasting writers for The 'Shroom. That's cool!
Tucayo: On May it will be 2 years of writing for The 'Shroom :)
Me: Wow. You must be proud of that, right?
Tucayo: I certainly am, it is a honor to be a part of The 'Shroom.
Tucayo: BTW, can I advertise something?
Me: That's a great attitude to have!
Me: Yes, you may.
Tucayo: Readers, please check our Facebook and Twitter pages and join/follow respectively! Facebook and Twitter
Me: Thanks for that. I was trying to figure out a way to work that into this interview, actually. :P
Me: So, being a member of the MW for so long, have you accomplished any goals?
Tucayo: Yes, I am happy to say I have accomplished many of them
Tucayo: Like becoming a SysOp, directing The 'Shroom
Tucayo: The List of Tayce T Recipes is one of the pages I am the most proud of
Me: Do you have any goals that you've yet to accomplish?
Tucayo: I would like to create an article I feel proud of, an article that becomes an FA
Me: That's a great goal to have.
Me: What's your favorite Mario game? And your favorite video game overall?
Tucayo: My favorite Mario game.... Super Mario World
Tucayo: It was the first game I played, so I have a strong feeling towards it
Tucayo: But I also think it is an amazing game, the best 2D platformer, IMHO
Tucayo: And overall, I think Ocarina of Time would have that honor
Tucayo: Even though I haven't finished it, it is a great game, greatly developed, it is simply perfect
Me: I know many people would agree with you. Those are both great games.
Me: Outside of the wiki, do you have any hobbies?
Tucayo: Hobbies. Yes, I have some of them
Tucayo: I like reading, watching TV, sports (watching and playing some, especially baseball), videogames, music (I LOVE music).
Me: And what type of music/groups do you like?
Tucayo: I like almost all kinds of music, but my favorite music is Alternative, I like artists like Coldplay, Robbie Williams, The Killers and others. I also like some pop artists
Tucayo: As I am mexican
Tucayo: I also like music in spanish
Tucayo: I like Juanes, Shakira, Reik, Kalimba, etc. :)
Me: Niiiice. Maybe you should check out Chingon, too. They're great. ;D
Me: You said you like baseball...who's your favorite team?
Tucayo: Chingon? lol nice name. I will check them
Tucayo: The New York Yankees!!
Tucayo: Wayo favorite team is the Red Sox
Tucayo: I remember once I went to his talk and said RED SOCKS SUCK!!!! YANKEES ARE BETTER!!!!
Tucayo: And someone told me "That is something unwise to say, specially if the user you told that to lives in Boston, and specially if he is an admin"
Tucayo: But yes, The Yankees PWN
Me: Awesome. The Yankees are a good team. (Not that I pay much attention to sports...)
Me: Well...I think I'm just about done here.
Me: Tell me, is this the last question?
Tucayo: Oh :(
Tucayo: Oh, but of course
Tucayo: That question
Tucayo: It is a must-have question
Tucayo: But tell me, is there a point in answering it?
Me: Not really, but it's still fun to ask.
Tucayo: If I say no, it will be, if I say yes, it won't be
Tucayo: It is an eternal paradox
Me: You're wrong.
Tucayo: But I think I already asked a question some lines above......
Me: (See what I did there?)
Tucayo: Now let ME ask YOU a question
Me: ok
Tucayo: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Me: Vanilla. Because you can do literally anything with it.
Me: You can make it chocolate, you can make it strawberry...you can add nuts, and it's always good. :]
Me: Wait, that sounded wrong...
Tucayo: :P
Tucayo: Wait! Here is the link to the image that brought me to the MW http://www.mariowiki.com/Image:SPM_DimensionD.jpg
Tucayo: Thanks RAP :D
Me: Heh. Good thing it's still on the site...otherwise you might not be here anymore! :O
Tucayo: :O ! My soul is inside the image :3
Me: well, at least you know that.
Me: Thanks for letting me interview you. :)
Tucayo: Thanks to you for interviewing me :)
In Closing
Over the past year, Tucayo has proven himself time and time again to be a very useful member of this community. Between his strong opinions in proposals (as well as wiki admin matters), and his shining personality, it's safe to say that the MarioWiki would never be the same without Tucayo. So, go talk to him if you haven't done so already.
That's it for this month. Next month, I just may find someone more interesting!
...Or maybe not.
I'm-a back! Today, we'll discuss some moves in Super Mario Sunshine, get some hidden 1-Ups in the same game, and collect a difficult Star Coin in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
How to Use Moves the CORRECT Way
Do you need to get up on a high ledge, but lack the space for a triple jump? Or do you need to get across a long stretch of land? Here are some basic things to remember.
To Climb a High Ledge
You may know how to triple jump, but another good strategy jump to use is the Sideways Jump. Just run in a straight line, then turn 180 degrees and jump at the same time. You'll execute a higher jump than usual. You can then use the hover nozzle to get more height.
WHOA! THAT'S FAR!!!
Use the hover nozzle again to get over high places then let go of the "R" button and press B to slide over. Also, you can float above enemies with the hover nozzle, drenching them while you remain safe.
Some 1-UPs
1. There's one near the ocean. 2. There's one underground. 3. There's two in the Secret of the Yoshi-Go-Round.
Ironically, it rhymed. But they all are there.
NSMBW Coin in 3-3
To get the last star coin in World 3-3, pick up the barrel at the checkpoint and hold it until you see the warp pipe leading to the surface. Throw the barrel into the hole where the star coin is and you've achieved victory!
That's it for this month. See ya!
Non-Marioverse Review
Harvest Moon 64 is the first – and to my knowledge, only – Harvest Moon installment on the Nintendo 64 system. It was recently released a few months ago on the Wii’s Virtual Console.
The concept of Harvest Moon isn’t hard for a non-gamer to grasp; you’ve bought yourself an old, run-down farm to renew and literally make fruitful again. You engage in a host of farm-related activities such as growing crops and raising animals, and take it to a new level with the ability to participate in festivals. These events range from crop contests to horse races and luck-based challenges. The main choice to make behind any Harvest Moon game is: will your farm prosper, or go under?
Not every farmer has the same plan – you may or may not choose to settle down and raise a family. Maybe you’ll specialize in animal breeding and sell animal products. Or maybe your focus is just on plantlife. The game is almost completely non-linear and you can do everything the way you want to.
Some may be disappointed that the graphics of Harvest Moon 64 are merely detailed, enlarged sprites rather than the full 3-D graphics we’ve come to expect on the system, but it probably works best this way. In this perspective, it’s easier to get a look at your entire farm and everything surrounding you, and with the days so short, every bit of help counts. In fact, the graphics are a vast improvement from the original SNES title.
The game also makes improvements in the area of audio quality. Maybe the songs aren’t quite as memorable, but the quality of the tracks themselves is better. As the main farm theme changes with the passing of seasons, the music perfectly matches the season it’s meant to represent (fall is especially well represented).
Maybe the main problem with the game is repetition. As I stated earlier, the in-game days are very short, and as you must take care of animals and water plants once a day the concept wears slightly thin. But a persistent player will reap the benefits, and there are also many exciting parts of Harvest Moon 64.
While not perfect, I commend Marvelous on this effort and award the game an 8.2/10.

Mario - 11/4 - ?: Brawl, Seeding, and Bracket
Entrants
We added another 63 characters for a total of 109 from the Mario series and 194 total.
Meeting 8
SUMMARY
We did final touch-ups, covered SSB, and began seeding, but we didn't get much done, due to the World Series and people not really wanting to pay attention. However, I was able to work with a few users during the week, so we were able to make progress nonetheless.
For seeding, we have 222 characters. To narrow it down to 128, we will need to eliminate 94 of them. Therefore, 34 of the entrants are being given first-round byes and will advance directly to the second round. The next 94 will be matched up against the bottom 94.
Agenda
Continue seeding and fill out bracket.
Entrants
We added 28 characters, for a final? (unintentional) count of 222. I was going for something between 128 and 256, so it worked out well.
Meeting 9
We worked on the second tier of seeding. SLNO was there for a bit; Tucky and MG1 were the major contributors. We didn't add any new characters, but MG1 suggested the SMG bosses; you can now vote whether to include them or not.
Meeting 10
MG1, SMB, and SLNO helped nearly round out the second tier of seeding in a short meeting. It looks like the SMG bosses are going to pass; the poll will close at the start of the next meeting.
Meeting 11
MG1, SMB, Noah, and Tucky finished out the seeding groups. Since the Galaxy bosses pass, we finished with 231 characters. We're going to organize them into a bracket and set up dates beginning next week.
Meeting 12
MG1, SMB, Tucky, SLNO, and Noah helped organize the bracket. Because of the number of characters, 25 characters get byes, or free passes, to the second round. They have been placed throughout the bracket. We plan to open the first round of the tournament on January 6th or 13th.
Info
Dates
Here are the dates:
Round 1: 1/7-1/27- Round 2: 1/28-2/24

Sub-Director Notes
Hello readers, I am your cool sub-director Tucayo. Welcome to this issue’s Sub-Director Notes.
Hmm… this month I don’t have much to say… Edo is now Fake Games writer, and his section is amazing! 22’s notes are also cool. If you want to write for The ’Shroom, please click the “SIGN UP” link in the shroomfooter (the cool thingy at the bottom of the page), and if you want to send us a question, comment, suggestion, complaint, etc, click the “CONTACT US” link. Smiley
I also have two great ideas for The ’Shroom, but they are top secret at the moment. Actually, they are so secret that only I know them…. but I will share them with the Core Staff soon Smiley
If you are bored, you can try to solve this philosophical question: What came first, the Shell or the Koopa? Think about it. For homework. A 345,096,706 page thesis about it. For tomorrow. It will be your final grade. That’s all I have to say. BYE!

Guys.
I discovered the answer to the greatest mystery of the Mario series. To wit: Why doesn't Peach ever get better guards?
I was pondering this mystery yesterday. However, I wasn't making any progress, so I did the obvious thing and ordered plane tickets to Tibet.
In Tibet, I located a likely (unlocked) looking building, and walked in. I discovered that I had come into a Buddhist Monastery. After performing the customary ritual of introduction for American tourists (talking loudly in English, taking photographs without permission, and breaking things), I stopped some guy who was passing in the hallway, and asked him my question. For some reason, he kept trying to get past me, so I hit him on the head with a conveniently placed Ming Vase. After that, he was much more cooperative, but unfortunately, he didn't know the answer to my question. However, he was kind enough to tell me that the Buddha would know about it. He even pointed me towards the mountain that the Buddha lived on.
And so, after climbing a mountain in Tibet to ask the Buddha my question, I found out that the Buddha had been dead for about 1.5 thousand years. Oops!
...
Uh, so anyway...
The real reason is that if Peach had better guards, Mario would never get any underwear.
See, Mario needs underwear. He used to live on Earth (we think), where most everyone wears underwear. Chances are good that he picked up the custom.
On the other hand, Toads don't need underwear, because they are mushrooms. I can't really go into much detail, because if I do, you'll never again be able to look at a Toad without being disturbed. So just trust me, they don't need it. Since they don't need it, Toads don't know how to make underwear. This leaves Mario in a bind.
The solution? Well, Koopas do wear underwear. This is well documented, but if you don't believe me, I have this image of fellow 'Shroom administrator Tucayo to demonstrate.
So every time Bowser kidnaps Peach (so he can sing to her), Mario sneaks into the Bowser's Castle Laundry Room®, and takes some of the underwear he finds there.
And this is the real driving force behind the entirety of the Mario series.
...so what about Peach's underwear? Uhm... go away. Perv.
