Interview

Written by Stooben Rooben (talk)

Welcome to April's interview, humble readers. This month's interview arrived just a little late, but that's only because I went through the painstaking process of finding someone around here who was actually interesting enough for an interview.

Uh...yeah.

The Target

This month, I decided to interview long-time 'Shroom writer, Tucayo. He's really a nice person to hang around. Tucayo's been a member for around 2 years, has achieved both Patroller and Sysop status on the MarioWiki, and plays a key role in the NIWA project. (Watch your local news tonight at 10pm to find out more information about this.) Tucayo hails from Mexico, a land full of hot temperatures, American tourists, and tacos. Check out the interview below to find out more about Tucayo.

The Interview

Me: How did you first find the MarioWiki?

Tucayo: Well, it was actually by accident

Tucayo: I was searching an image for a box art I was making

Tucayo: And I came across the MarioWiki's Dimension D image, so I kept using the MW as an image source :)

Tucayo: But as a guest all the time

Me: Interesting. What made you decide to join?

Tucayo: One day, browsing the Main Page, I saw an announcement that said there was a 'Shroom Director Election. I clicked the link to see what this "Shroom" was, I started reading it (actually I think I read all issues) and I signed up to know when a new issue was released :)

Me: And now you're one of the longest-lasting writers for The 'Shroom. That's cool!

Tucayo: On May it will be 2 years of writing for The 'Shroom :)

Me: Wow. You must be proud of that, right?

Tucayo: I certainly am, it is a honor to be a part of The 'Shroom.

Tucayo: BTW, can I advertise something?

Me: That's a great attitude to have!

Me: Yes, you may.

Tucayo: Readers, please check our Facebook and Twitter pages and join/follow respectively! Facebook and Twitter

Me: Thanks for that. I was trying to figure out a way to work that into this interview, actually. :P

Me: So, being a member of the MW for so long, have you accomplished any goals?

Tucayo: Yes, I am happy to say I have accomplished many of them

Tucayo: Like becoming a SysOp, directing The 'Shroom

Tucayo: The List of Tayce T Recipes is one of the pages I am the most proud of

Me: Do you have any goals that you've yet to accomplish?

Tucayo: I would like to create an article I feel proud of, an article that becomes an FA

Me: That's a great goal to have.

Me: What's your favorite Mario game? And your favorite video game overall?

Tucayo: My favorite Mario game.... Super Mario World

Tucayo: It was the first game I played, so I have a strong feeling towards it

Tucayo: But I also think it is an amazing game, the best 2D platformer, IMHO

Tucayo: And overall, I think Ocarina of Time would have that honor

Tucayo: Even though I haven't finished it, it is a great game, greatly developed, it is simply perfect

Me: I know many people would agree with you. Those are both great games.

Me: Outside of the wiki, do you have any hobbies?

Tucayo: Hobbies. Yes, I have some of them

Tucayo: I like reading, watching TV, sports (watching and playing some, especially baseball), videogames, music (I LOVE music).

Me: And what type of music/groups do you like?

Tucayo: I like almost all kinds of music, but my favorite music is Alternative, I like artists like Coldplay, Robbie Williams, The Killers and others. I also like some pop artists

Tucayo: As I am mexican

Tucayo: I also like music in spanish

Tucayo: I like Juanes, Shakira, Reik, Kalimba, etc. :)

Me: Niiiice. Maybe you should check out Chingon, too. They're great. ;D

Me: You said you like baseball...who's your favorite team?

Tucayo: Chingon? lol nice name. I will check them

Tucayo: The New York Yankees!!

Tucayo: Wayo favorite team is the Red Sox

Tucayo: I remember once I went to his talk and said RED SOCKS SUCK!!!! YANKEES ARE BETTER!!!!

Tucayo: And someone told me "That is something unwise to say, specially if the user you told that to lives in Boston, and specially if he is an admin"

Tucayo: But yes, The Yankees PWN

Me: Awesome. The Yankees are a good team. (Not that I pay much attention to sports...)

Me: Well...I think I'm just about done here.

Me: Tell me, is this the last question?

Tucayo: Oh :(

Tucayo: Oh, but of course

Tucayo: That question

Tucayo: It is a must-have question

Tucayo: But tell me, is there a point in answering it?

Me: Not really, but it's still fun to ask.

Tucayo: If I say no, it will be, if I say yes, it won't be

Tucayo: It is an eternal paradox

Me: You're wrong.

Tucayo: But I think I already asked a question some lines above......

Me: (See what I did there?)

Tucayo: Now let ME ask YOU a question

Me: ok

Tucayo: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

Me: Vanilla. Because you can do literally anything with it.

Me: You can make it chocolate, you can make it strawberry...you can add nuts, and it's always good. :]

Me: Wait, that sounded wrong...

Tucayo: :P

Tucayo: Wait! Here is the link to the image that brought me to the MW http://www.mariowiki.com/Image:SPM_DimensionD.jpg

Tucayo: Thanks RAP :D

Me: Heh. Good thing it's still on the site...otherwise you might not be here anymore! :O

Tucayo: :O ! My soul is inside the image :3

Me: well, at least you know that.

Me: Thanks for letting me interview you. :)

Tucayo: Thanks to you for interviewing me :)

In Closing

Over the past year, Tucayo has proven himself time and time again to be a very useful member of this community. Between his strong opinions in proposals (as well as wiki admin matters), and his shining personality, it's safe to say that the MarioWiki would never be the same without Tucayo. So, go talk to him if you haven't done so already.

That's it for this month. Next month, I just may find someone more interesting!

...Or maybe not.
