Template:Newsubject Template:Mergeto Template:SSB Infobox Captain Olimar is the star of the video game franchise, Pikmin, made by Shigeru Miyamoto, named after Mario himself (Olimar is an anagram of Mario, with an L added). He is also a new playable character in the Wii game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, fighting alongside the Pikmin. In fact, without the Pikmin, Olimar is helpless - He can't even use a Smash Attack. As such, Olimar has to constantly pick Pikmin out of the ground in order to fight. How this is done is unknown. The Pikmin may also scatter, which acts very problematic for Olimar. It is unknown if scatter by attacks from opponents or just naturally. However, so long as Olimar has even one Pikmin by his side, he can fight, as far as has been announced.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Melee

The main character of the game Pikmin, Captain Olimar crash-lands on a mysterious planet after his spaceship malfunctions. In order to get off the planet, he must gather the pieces of his broken ship, but the atmosphere of the planet is poisonous to Olimar. As a result, he has to enlist the help of the native Pikmin.

Trivia

  • Olimar was planned to make an appearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga as one of the characters that appear when creating new brews in the Starbeans Cafe. In this appearance, his dialogue was written in the type of text box that appears whenever Mario or Luigi get certain items, as though written in a log book like in the actual Pikmin games. He also names Mario "Marlio" and mistakes Luigi as a dangerous beast.[1] Because Professor E. Gadd replaced all of the other characters (even Wario), Olimar wasn't able to interact with Mario until Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
