The 'Shroom Spotlight
Written by: RHG1951 (talk) and Technetium (talk)
Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing, to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
The latest Nintendo Direct was quite eventful, filled with good news (physical version of Rosalina's Storybook), bad news (No Nester's Funky Bowling in the Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics service), and shocking news (official confirmation of a baby Waluigi). In any case, it means that there's more for us to document, especially with start of the Super Mario Bros.'s 40th anniversary event. In other news, now that the celebrations of Donkey Kong Bananza and the wiki's 20th anniversary are in the rear-view mirror, we're going back to six focuses. Don't worry, we're going to bring back the ten-focus format when the occasion calls for it. Before we dole out this month's focuses, let's take a look at the ones for last month.
Sparks (talk) satiated our appetites and added the level layout for Maw-Maw Mouthful. Camwoodstock (talk) really impressed us by uploaded an image for Fan (object), added some music samples for Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and finished Happy! Mario 20th - Super Mario Sound Collection by adding the final music track. Funnily enough, this performance is almost exactly like the one from Issue 220! Four of the ten focuses completed, with three done by one user and the remaining one done by Sparks. Spooky, isn't it?
And now onto this month's focuses:
Article | Category | Focuses |
---|---|---|
With a name as fetch as this, it's a shame that the article on it hasn't been made already. Its coolness would just spread throughout the rest of the wiki. Find out what kind of hip happenings are going on in this Mario Golf: Advance Tour location. | ||
Seems like a core component of the newly announced Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is filling out the pages of Mr. Encyclopedia with information, so let's get some practice in with another Yoshi book. This level from Yoshi's Story doesn't have a section dedicated to the level layout. Write up a description of the layout so that we're one step closer to closing the book on Yoshi's Story levels with the stub template. | ||
How exciting! It's the first time one of these newly introduced "crossover" pages has made its way onto Spotlight. The Super Smash Bros. section needs to be punched up so that it matches the respective section in Crossovers with The Legend of Zelda. | ||
As Polari gets ready to appear in Super Mario Galaxy once again, we can't forget his cameos in the Super Smash Bros. series. Grab a Polaroid and snap a pic of Rosalina summoning Polari in Smash 3DS, Wii U, and Ultimate. If you're really feeling like a star, perhaps you could get a screenshot of him in Mario Sports Superstars as well! | ||
Nothing encapsulates the feeling of autumn better like the warm hues of deciduous trees, but which arrangement of Maple Treeway's music best sounds like autumn? We can't fairly compare them without all of the entries, so make like a tree and upload the remaining music tracks without a sample. | ||
Certainly we're all fond of watching the Baker and his brother perform their exercise routine, but is the name "Baker" found anywhere in Mario Artist: Polygon Studio? This is no time to be loafing around, so rise to the challenge and find that name, or else we're toast. |
Now just before we leave you, we'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently 35 that need to be implemented, dating as far back as 2021, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. Additionally, there are many unresolved discussions that we would love to see come to some sort of conclusion. Some might have already concluded and just need the template removed, others have been waiting for a response for years. There are also thousands of articles with unsourced foreign names. They are found within this category, so please help out and add sources for them.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact us on either RHG's talk page or Technetium's talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
