Talk:Strollin' Stu

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

Name[edit]

Is that name official? If so, where from? --General Guy 01:32, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure. I've seen it used in most players guides for Mario Sunshine, not to mention "Strollin' Stu" is among the names seen in the list of Tournament players in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. --Heffy 19:35, 23 September 2006 (EDT)

There are two or three kinds, including a "Swoopin' Stu". 3dejong

No way! I read in three guides that they are called Widget Puffies, and the article should be renamed as such. User:Lord Blumiere

Where is the top pic from? it looks like Delfino Plaza! Max2

I believe it is Delfino Plaza, despite the fact that no Strollin' Stus appear in that area in the final game. I'm pretty sure it's taken from a beta screenshot. --YellowYoshi398 22:14, 25 February 2007 (EST)

8| is EVERY sunshine pic beta! Max2

Well it just won't do to have both names all over the article. If they aren't called Widget Puffies in any of the games, I think they should be called Strollin' Stus (as apparently they were refered to as such in Mario Golf). Besides, they don't look very puffy.... SaltyTalk! 21:16, 26 April 2007 (EDT)

Are the guides your looking at from NP? Full Metal MoogleKirbyWalk.gif Hi Salty

No, Prima. Plumber

Boygey???[edit]

Where does the name "Boygey" come from? The only Google results I get relate to the Wiki. --Grandy02 15:44, 10 May 2009 (EDT)

BoygeyDude just made it up, he's just trying to be annoying. Hi!!!Nerdy Guy (Or something...)Click on the "y", please.

PeteyPiranhafliying.gifGalacticPeteyPeteyPiranhafliying.gif @Galacticpetey, that is totally unrelated, and I agree he made that up. so if someone adds it, remove it.Green lightsaber.jpgCatJedi's been here......NyanNyanNyan!My youtube account...........................................FOOLED U!I'm trying to slice CatJedi's sig!

Steal Mario's cap?[edit]

Are you sure that the Giant Stu can also steal Mario's cap? I thought that was something that Swipin' Stus do. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 09:46, 18 March 2010 (EDT)

Yes. User:Boozooka/sig

No, they actually can't. Only swipin' stus can do that. Coooool123 (talk)

Split Stackin' stu from stu[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

no quorum 1-0
These two should be split because even though they are only Goomba's stacked on top of each other other things like Shy Stack are split and so are Shy Squad and those are nothing more then a bunch of Shy Guys so the standard is that officially named things like this should be split.

Comment[edit]

You've got several things wrong with this TPP. You're deadline makes no sense. You've voted with a signature, you haven't placed this on the proposals page, I had to make the comments section myself. Please read the rules before making TPPs Commander Code-8 (talk)

Split[edit]

  1. TheCatWhoLovesDots... (talk) per proposal
  2. Zero777 (talk) I was going to say it's the same species with a different behavioral pattern, but since you mentioned the shy stack then they should be split.
  3. Tails777 (talk) We have Goomba Tower split from Goomba, so this is no different. Per all.
  4. Raven Effect (talk) Per proposal.

Don't[edit]

  1. Coooool123 (talk)The Giant stu is basically just a bigger version of a strollin' stu. there's no point to splitting them. I say they just stay the same.

Comment[edit]

Mistakes fixed! i re-did it. TheCatWhoLovesDots... (talk)

This time with all new mistakes. You can't just switch the {{SettledTPP}} for {{TPP}} and change the date: you need to make a whole new proposal, and leave the original one intact. If people hadn't already voted, I would have just reverted your edits, but it's too late for that, so above this one, I just re-added the old TPP as it was before you changed it. Also, the deadline was wrong: TPPs run for two weeks, not one. - Walkazo 23:55, 23 June 2012 (EDT)

@Coooool123 In the SMW we try to keep consistency. I don't understand why you don't want the stackin' stu be separated just because of its size. Giant Goombas have separate articles. Shy Stacks and Goomba stacks have their own article, so why can't this one also? Zero777 (talk)

Because, we already have a bunch of tiny articles all over the place, and adding one doesn't help solve the problem. Also, there's no point in splitting it because someone's just going to look at it and propose it be merged. Why don't we just merge the other two stacks? Instead of adding yet another page, we lose two and merge it elsewhere. Coooool123 (talk)
Can you please tell me where these tiny articles are in the context of this proposal? The articles that are linked to in the proposal are of adequate size. Not FA-worthy, but not stub-worthy. And Zero, have you already forgotten about Giant Ninji, Giant Kirby, and Giant Donkey Kong? All of them had proposals to merge them, since they are larger variations of other characters, and you supported all of them. GreenDisaster 12:46, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
The articles are the ones mentioned above: the Shy Stack and the Goomba Tower. They could totally be merged with no problem. They're small enough, and barely 200 words. And like I said before: this is going to just be a giant game of volleyball. The proposal passes, then they're split. Someone sees this proposal awhile later, makes a new proposal to merge them, it passes, and the cycle continues. Leaving it as is would be the best way to avoid this. Coooool123 (talk)
You cannot predict the future. So far, you are the only person that thinks somewhere down the line, they'll be remerged. Right now, the only game of volleyball that's happening is the one between you and me. Bring me proof that this will happen and I'll be quiet. Also, the articles you mentioned aren't even that short. 200 words is a bit too much for a lot of articles. GreenDisaster 13:43, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
You're right, I can't predict the future. But I'm sure that there are other mariowiki users that want the smallest number of tiny pages as possible. People argued against splitting the Goomba Stack from the Goomba section in a talk page proposal. If those people argued about that, then why wouldn't they argue about splitting a perfectly good article from becoming two tiny stubs (more or less)? The Goomba Stack article would be larger than the Giant Stu article. There's barely any information on it, so there's no point in splitting. It would be unnecessary and a space waster. Coooool123 (talk)
Coulos someone create "Stackin' Stu" for me PLZ?(maybe it could be someone who voted 'yes')

TheBlitty7.pngWho Loves Dots...

The deadline has not been reached yet. This proposal started on June 23rd and runs for two weeks, so it ends on July 7th. Mario4Ever
Now it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past July. Could someone make it?

The Split?[edit]

Is someone going to split the pages or not? WolfenSage (talk) 01:36, 6 April 2016 (EDT)

Nobody has noticed it for a while, but thanks for bringing this to attention. I've created the article now. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 16:55, 6 April 2016 (EDT)

"Stu"[edit]

Does any guide simply calls them "Stu" at any point? --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 06:49, April 30, 2019 (EDT)

Or this was a fan-term used to refer to the species? --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 09:06, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
It doesn't look like it. The closest would be that "Kuri" is used to refer to Strollin' Stu and Swipin' Stu in the BradyGames guide. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:55, May 16, 2019 (EDT)
