RE: The Rouge quotes fiasco

Hi there; I apologize if it wasn't clear -- it's just that the phrases that Rouge says in MSOWG still don't relate to her main personality herself from the Sonic games in general. The quotes you attempted to list were still "general phrases" in nature from what we saw after taking a second look. Now if there was a line that matched Rouge perfectly describing her character overall, then it would have passed. Sorry, but we failed to see that in MSOWG. Thanks for asking. However, I'm still happy that you improved the rest of the said article, no doubt. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 19:02, 24 October 2009 (EDT)

Surprised?

Well, I saw that the quality is the same for the images you've replaced, so I think it's not necessary to upload duplicate images, don't you think? I'll recommend you to stop uploading these images since it's not needed to upload them with the same quality. Additionally uploading them in PNG format only makes the file obese and NEVER enhances quality, believe me... ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

No, that wasn't cropped... :/

¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Actually it does enhance quality, for an example check here:look at the section titled .jpg.--FREAK ~Game   Freak~ OUT!

Sorry, but I do know the difference between the images you uploaded and the old ones. The quality it's the same if you see at max resolution for both of those images. By the way, let me know which is the page where you found those images... ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

@ Gamefreak. Not exactly. If the original image is PNG and you turn into JPG, this will lose quality. BUT if you turn a JPG image into PNG, the quality is the same but the size of the file increases.

¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Per Coincollector. Turning a JPG image into PNG only makes it consume more space, except in the cases that the image is compressed (which basically reduces the size while keeping the quality... If you use the right program and know what you are doing). · SMB (Talk) · 22:01, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
I knew the first part, but with my experience, the second part makes the quality worse...It's probably the pictures I used. But usually what messes up is the background. :/ --FREAK ~Game   Freak~ OUT!

Ok, since everybody seems to be coming to my talk page to talk about this I'll say it here. I didn't find the images as jpgs in the first place. I found them as full size high quality arts and then saved them as pngs. They didn't have a save option and were not jpg. Also, were not the same images that previously existed. FD09

@ Gamefreak: well, depending the software you use, the image you're converting will take some determined measures. And as for FD09, I know the problem and your efforts but I'm afraid that's not needed by now. The quality is the same really, I should tell you I found these images with the same resolution and low file size that is nice to save server's space and load pages quickly. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Images

I'm actually uploading the remaining images that I tried to upload for one whole day. You see, I gathered about 600 images quite a while ago this year to beat Shroobario's image record, 294. I've uploaded over 300 images, but have the other half left. So I'm trying to upload all of it as best as I can... right now, I can't remember where I get those images, but I remembered that I used Google to find all the images in unique ways, like finding images larger than a computer screen perhaps. Don't be surprised if I'm still uploading them, the very last image will have a note that says I'm done uploading the rest of the other 300 images. XD  RAP...

I haven't checked the wiki records, but last time I checked, I was the highest image uploader in the wiki; and I wll continue to be after uploading a few goodies. There's some competition with other users, but I got to be friendly with them (but haven't talked to them... XD), but there's a certain user who didn't responded to a certain comment. User talk:Lindsayoris15 to be exact. Anyhow, I have to go, I have other matters to take care of. Talk to you later. :P  RAP...

That image was part of the 300 images that I'm trying to upload. I think it came from the public FTP server of Sega. You should really thank them due to their open-ness to their "press materials".  RAP... There are more images to go. ;)

It's not really a joke, there's actually a FTP server that Sega has, to host various materials. Those images? Awwwwwww... you didn't find them? I haven't seen the page since, but it's still open, along with "The Conduit", and other folders. Maybe I'll search for it, hmmm.  RAP...

Link  RAP... Have fun, while it lasts. :o (The other Mario & Sonic folder disappeared... :X)

As I said, I haven't been there since around May or June. I don't think that the two images were there, maybe try creatively searching those images.  RAP...

The Peach picture for NSMB Wii

Okay, upon closer inspection, the Peach art for NSMB Wii has got my attention too from all angles because it's too good. However, I believe when the time comes to change said picture on her infobox, we need to upload said art from the source where Arend got it -- it's currently in PNG and upon closer inspection, it had a slight image quality loss. --M. Re: Hello

I like it the way it is now. It's organized in a logical fashion that gives no type of media more merit or importance than any other. Your proposed scheme of organization seems to value the game-related area of a given article more than the other forms. BLOC PARTIER.

Decent argument, but my opinion still stands. And anyway, I shouldn't have to defend it. That's not how our proposal system works. BLOC PARTIER.

The difference could possibly be that you're using a high-ratio screen while I have one in 4:3. The images take half of the page and half for the text, looking like a newspaper. As for the proposal, among the main rules consist that users must vote that back up the proposal and not a condition just for a change. And between, do you think the user Time Q is conspiring against you...? ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Maybe but then the text becomes tiny... crap

¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Just to clarify that: Of course I'm NOT conspiring against you... Those votes weren't valid really. Look at the top of the page, it says that "I like this idea!" doesn't suffice as a valid reason, and that was basically what those users wrote. Believe it or don't, I would also have removed those votes if they were in the oppose section. Time Questions 08:09, 10 November 2009 (EST)

Proposal

Hi. First of all, congrats that your proposal passed. I want to warn you though that I and some other users are going to propose to revert the proposal as soon as we are allowed to (which is in 4 weeks). Maybe you could wait until then before you make huge changes to articles that may need to be reverted afterwards? That's just a suggestion, of course you may also ignore that and do any changes you want as long as they conform to your proposal. It's just that it would be a pity if we'd need to revert all that afterwards. Time Questions 12:28, 10 November 2009 (EST)

Proposal...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the other Administrators and I have decided to veto your proposal on changing the History Organization Standard for the character biographies. The Wiki's already had its Histories reorganized twice, and combined with the absolutely unorganized pages, we have four standards kicking around, not to mention countless smaller variations found from page to page. Not one of those standards is perfect (personally, I'm not a huge fan of our current series-sub-divided method), but the Wiki's disorganized enough as it is, and we can't change things up any more without first fixing what we've already done. Us Admins are largely to blame for dragging our feet so long when it comes to updating the neglected pages, but hopefully that will change now that you've brought our attention back to the underlying issues of the inconsistent Histories plaguing the Wiki - it's just regrettable that you did it at the expense of your own idea. Please accept our apologies for this whole debacle, and try to understand that we had no choice but to come to the difficult decision of revoking your proposal. - Walkazo 01:12, 11 November 2009 (EST)

Please believe me when I say we would have reacted the same way if anyone else had proposed another change, even if they had been an Admin themselves. We do understand that you're mad, and I appreciate the fact that you're not taking it out on me. As for what's going to happen now... we'll continue to update pages to the current History Organization Standard. The problem is that it's such a huge undertaking - many of these pages need to be totally rewritten in some parts, and most people look at things like Mario and run for the hills (myself included, I'm ashamed to admit). There's no simple way to turn the crappy pages like Koopalings into good pages - we just have to keep widdling away at the mountain, as we always have (for example, I've been updating the individual Koopaling pages, such as Iggy Koopa, and they're slowly looking better; if memory serves, I also had a hand in reorganizing Princess Daisy). We'll fix this place up, even if it takes a few more years. - Walkazo 02:30, 11 November 2009 (EST)
The reason everything is in disorder is because we've kept changing how things are organized, yet haven't bothered updating everything accordingly. That leaves us with multiple generations of History Organization Standards dotting the wiki: we have continuous game-only timelines; continuous mixed-media timelines; timelines subdivided into series; timelines with creative headers; timelines mashed into rambling introductions; timelines that start with "Yoshi's Island"; timelines that have "background" sections... It's an ugly, ugly mess, but there's no quick fix. Even if we were to sit down and dream up a perfect organization standard right now, that doesn't change the fact that thousands of pages would need to be changed, and hundreds of those will require complete overhauls. It's not just characters, remember: items, species, places and organizations all have histories too, so whatever we do to the characters has to be done to everything else. It's not so much the specific standards that are broken: the sheer logistics is what's slowing us down and what has made the other Admins and I wary of another major change. The last standard was decided upon months ago, but we're barely halfway through implementing it, so if we change it again, we'll have to redo what we've already redone and only then can we move on to the pages that weren't updated at all last time, many of which were left unchanged because they're the ones that require rewrites - thus we hit the same brick wall every other wave of change has hit. The sad truth is that most people don't have enough initiative to write/rewrite every page, and even those of us who want to can't always muster the energy (I find that by the tenth or so major rewrite, I'm sick and tired of editing for the night). We have to fix the horrible pages, but that's only going to be done if the easy jobs are already finished, which is why we can't change the standard anymore; the current system isn't perfect, but at least it's established in the database. We just need to buckle down and tackle the neglected pages; once everything's fleshed out and formatted nicely, reorganizing will be fast and easy, since we'll just have to move the existing sections around and change some headers, but getting to that point is what's gonna take time. - Walkazo 01:06, 14 November 2009 (EST)
Wow, Walkazo has big things. Anyhow, you have to archive proposals if you delete them. Marioguy1 (talk)

Peach/Daisy in Film

I've seen the movie several times and have watched it several times the last week. There's little difference between blonde and "dirty" blonde. They're both "blonde". Daisy also is brunette, if you look at her actual artwork. An orangeish-tint doesn't remove from the brunette foundation.

Finally, there's no such thing as a gender-role-specific profession. Being a paleontologist does not make Daisy more or less masculine. (It would be wise to know the facts yourself, considering she wasn't a paleontologist at all... She was a university student) Daisy's personality was shy, quiet, and overtly-intimate. She hadn't a single tomboyish or masculine trait, such as brashness, initiative, or resolve. All indications point to her being Peach with a composite name, so don't be such a fangirl. Redstar 00:42, 22 November 2009 (EST)

I didn't insult you, nor did I suggest you were a girl. Even if I did, why should that be taken as an insult/offense? If anything you insulted me first by suggesting I "don't know the facts".
Daisy may be a redhead to some degree, but red hair typically darkens and become brunette with age. She very much appears to have brunette hair in her recent appearances. In any case, the fact Daisy is a redhead or brunette while the in-film Daisy is blonde should suggest Peach by your own logic, should it not? Redstar 00:53, 22 November 2009 (EST)
It may have been a personal insult to you, but it was not meant as such from me. I didn't even use it to suggest gender.
I have two redheaded sisters, a once-redheaded father, and have dated several redheads. I know redhair. I know what it's like. Daisy is a red-tinted brunette, but in the end her hair color doesn't matter... Because the in-film character Daisy has blonde hair which suggests Princess Peach.
Finally, the film Daisy has not a single trait one can connect with the video game Daisy. Name one, besides the name. Even then, look around... See anyone named "Peach"? They chose it because Daisy is a more common name, whereas "Peach" would sound strange to audiences. This isn't my opinion anymore than your belief she's Daisy is fact. Redstar 01:03, 22 November 2009 (EST)
The relationship between the two has never been explicitly stated, only implied, in the games, and only several years after the film was released. The relationship depicted in the film was the first suggested of romance between characters named "Luigi" and "Daisy", so there's no basis that this was a video game-portrayal.
I have several of the scripts. Redstar 01:08, 22 November 2009 (EST)
Umm... Okay? What does you being a redhead have to do with anything? I'm not debating what hair color Daisy has, I'm simply saying the film Daisy has blonde hair. The same color as Peach.
Daisy wasn't in any golf games at the time of the film's release, which wouldn't really matter because the script was written several years before the film was released anyways, and her being Luigi's caddy wouldn't suggest anything. Sorry, I don't know what you meant by "nice try there".
I'm pretty sure any admin won't ban me for this because I've tried to be civil and I'm discussing this with you. While the information is ultimately speculation, all speculative information points to Peach over Daisy. You haven't submitted a single piece of evidence suggesting the film Daisy is the counterpart to the video game Daisy other than her name. Redstar 01:18, 22 November 2009 (EST)
Yes, you do need to provide your "facts". You just can't post speculative fan-opinion as fact, which you clearly are doing.
And why doesn't the movie belong on here? It was a Super Mario adaptation, the very first video game-to-film adaptation, and was a faithful adaptation thereof. It deserves to be on here just as much as any other page. Redstar 01:33, 22 November 2009 (EST)

RE: Again

Hi there, the reason we "overrulled" your edit on the Peach article is because the "sports installments" of Mario spinoff games still don't really count. What was put there before your edit was perfectly fine. However, in the case of Redstar, I checked the edit history and I see no case to overrule his edits so far (besides, he also place a notice on the article's talk page). Besides, I see where he's coming from when he said that "repeated" info and such had to be taken out to make the article better, if I'm not mistaken. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 01:57, 27 November 2009 (EST)

Wait... let me get this straight...

Am I to conclude from your recent edits that the Princess Peach article had a mess of problems...? Even though I'm a sysop and monitor this page very closely, I can see why you have an issue with this. I'm beginning to also conclude that you're telling me that spinoff installments do count overall? My assumption is that in the case of Birdo, you're going all the way back to Peach's first encounter with her. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 20:41, 27 November 2009 (EST)

Re: Just Peachy

If anything, those relationship sections should be removed, as per a proposal that passed a couple months back. Only the most important relationships have any reason to stay, and that includes neither Birdo nor Toadette: any information pertaining to their interactions with Peach can simply be included in the appropriate appearances' sections. Trimming the sections is a step in the right direction - doubly so if it removes speculation and preferential treatment to certain types of appearances. - Walkazo 15:32, 29 November 2009 (EST)

RE: The Pecah/Daisy "Summary" Fiasco

I understand where you're coming from in your addressing your concerns, it's just that in my opinion -- the summaries of the Princess Peach and Princess Daisy should be focused on the "adult selves" mainly; mention of their "baby counterparts" are really not needed at the beginning. Besides, as already stated, we already have links to their "baby counterpart" articles in their respective sections (Baby Peach from Princess Peach's "M&L: P.I.T." section, and Baby Daisy from Princess Daisy's "Mario Kart Wii" section). And second, as I have already pointed out, the "milestone" of Peach's video game appearances has already been mentioned in the article's "Trivia" section. Once again, I appreciate the sending of your concerns my way, and I do hope you understand where I was coming from with this.

With that said, I've got some concerns of my own -- explain to me on the edit you did on the Bowser Jr. article that even though Bowser Jr. is an "antagonist" of Princess Peach, that he is "affiliated" with her. This doesn't make any sense to me. o_O --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 01:35, 30 November 2009 (EST)

...?!?!?! (again...)

No offense, FD09, but it seems like you're undoing my edits every time, even though I'm trying to do my job keeping the articles in check (recently the Mona page), while still keeping important/accurate details on there. Are you saying that I'm doing it in the wrong way (or am I missing something because it's like you're saying I'm not working with you and/or others here)? Because you're telling me that if there's plenty of acceptable content, it should be "permanent" on the pages. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 13:11, 2 December 2009 (EST) I too don't want to deal with edit wars (definitely a no-no from the sysop end), but this has gotten really personal to me, not to mention this has got me really baffled. o_O

AHA! It just hit me. This tells me I can't really "overrule" anything at all if the info inserted into articles and such was seriously worth mentioning (except removing small stuff that's "useless/obvious info")...? So, you're saying that you "overrulled" past edits of mine on articles recently because there wasn't any strong reasoning for doing so and/or my actions doing nothing but taking away the reader's interest! This leads me to conclude that you and some other are saying "red flag" on those edit actions of mine on certain articles. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! A question

Hello, FD. This question may seem out of the blue, but it's kind of important, since I'm working on a wiki maintenance/activity report. I was wondering if you had anyone you know from real life is a member of the MarioWiki? You see, I'm trying to categorize users by how many edits they make, which articles they work on the most, the average size (in bytes) of their contributions, how much part they take in the community, who goes on chat, who has siblings or friends on the wiki (and in extension, how many of those are known from real life), an estimated time spent online for each person, how long they've been a member, etc. I've already asked all the Sysops that I can contact on the forum, and I now intend to start out with the "largest contributors" to the site that don't have Administrative powers. I realize this may sound a little silly, but it's strictly for maintenance. — Stooben Rooben 22:45, 6 December 2009 (EST)

Okay, what's going on...?

Okay, I need to find out why you "reverted" my edit in regards to the "main athletic outfit" comparions on Daisy's articles. The focus was still on Daisy, but that added note about Peach's having that same design as Daisy (except for the "accesories"/"elements") was still beneficial; the "details" on Peach's athletic outfit itself would be on her page (which it already is). --M. So you're saying if information on one article is on another, it should be deleted? Then how about emptying Mario? Hello, I'm Time Turner.
I agree with FD09. We'd have to put all the quotes from List of Quotes in Luigi's Mansion into corresponding character's articles articles. Imagine doing it for E. Gadd! Why bother when there is an article for that already.--FREAK ~Game   Freak~ OUT!
@Gamefreak: Well, it doesn't hurt to do it, and besides, we did it with lots of other characters.
@FD09: All right, let me be serious. I know there's a difference, but the information was directed to the character. And if it all went on Snake's page, it would be sloppy and unorganized. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Ahh, you just contradicted your self, Reverse. Did you take a gander at how many quotes E. Gadd has in just Luigi's MAnsion alone. That is not even half of it! His page would be so sloppy!--FREAK ~Game   Freak~ OUT!

I am.........confused?

So, pretty much your trying to say in your proposal is that such as though in a game that such as SMG, that during one of Rosalina's Stories, that they say it in the paragragh: "And, if you notice, the background of the page is a light blue color." Or, am I getting it wrong again? I don't want to see me getting another misconfused vote again on the proposal... Baby Mario Bloops

Okay, what's going on... again...?

Yeah, the Princess Daisy article again -- I'm curious to know (as well as others, possibly), in the gallery section of the main page of it -- it's like you're telling us that the majority of pictures for both screenshots/artworks category should focus on the "current" Daisy? I was mainly targeting a few pictures of the "classic" Daisy (especially in the artworks section) to start the galleries (especially the "debut" art of Daisy herself), while ending the sections with the "current" Daisy we have now. No offense, but it looks like you're saying that you're the only one that can deal with the Daisy article itself since I you're reverting edits that you deem are unsatisfactory (except those in which we both agree are nothing but childish/vandalizing attemps). Once again, nothing personal. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 01:30, 5 February 2010 (EST)

Panchito? Hmm... show me where you had this conversation with him -- because there was a dispute on my talk page regarding "afterward"/"afterwards", which was basically the same word. And am I also to conclude that hi-quality images have priority in the "gallery" of main articles...?!?! o_O --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 17:17, 5 February 2010 (EST)

Well...

Really, there's just some grammar errors throughout the article. They probably aren't too many more left, though. I myself actually think it's a very nice article. Fawfulfury65

Sry but I can't

I'd like to help but I don't know so much to talk about her in the article. I'd rather use a few words to develop such extense article, but it seems you like to add sometimes details on every thing, such as her dressing and physical appearance for example. The other reason is that I'm not very active by now because I'm in the University and I'm preparing for mid-term exams that will come in a couple of weeks! -- ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Unfeaturing

Considering the unfeature page was already blown up when I returned to it today (which I consider completely unfair to our regular users, but that's a different story), I would like to point out that we definitely don't just go for the Princess Daisy article alone. We want to check other characters' articles that have feature status and try to validate whether they are worthy or not. I just started with the Daisy article because I came across some bad sections that have since been fixed. We just can't do it all at once. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 08:52, 8 February 2010 (EST)

Image

The image to the left, have you edited it from its original look? Because by looking at the history, anybody can plainly see that there's been lots of changes to the image by you. On the talk page, Grandy showed us that the image to the right is the true one. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Oh. Alright. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Koopalings

The page of Bowser Jr. says "Prince Bowser Koopa Junior", as it is the child of Bowser. so I wanted to insert the word "prince" by the other children of Bowser. (I'm sorry for my bad english) --Mikiuz 01:07, 10 February 2010 (EST)

INSANE!

Where did you find that "size update" for the Daisy art (profile) for Mario Party 6? And do you have the "original coloring" by any chance? --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 21:32, 13 February 2010 (EST)

Re: What?

I never simply cut pictures from a big image with background. Images (like that Yoshi image or the Star Coin image) are released as character artwork or object artwork on the official New Super Mario Bros. Wii website or manual. These images are fully legged if you ask me; the only thing is these images don't have a white background. There is really no problem with these images. They are uploaded months ago and nobody (including sysops) ever made a problem of it.  rend (talk) (edits)

Whoops?

Sorry about the page looking terrible when I remade from the redirect page, I don't really know about the Yoshi's Island games too much and I using some of the information from the Orange Yoshi page. · SMB (Talk) ·

Re: Category

The categories in question were not only removed from Princess Daisy's page, but from all pages they were on, because said categories needed to be deleted. I thought you'd prefer to not have ugly red category items at the bottom of the Daisy article. -   Gabumon(talk) 12:23, 14 March 2010 (EDT)

Neither was I. -   Gabumon(talk) 07:41, 15 March 2010 (EDT)

eh... What are you doing this time...?

I see you're retouching the Daisy pics, just because to show the fact she's ginger or she has an orange hair? I don't know, but you has made her to look weird and a bit unofficial all the artwork... -_- ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

OK I realised of that. Sorry for being indiscreet. Just take that comment that nobody would interest to note such differences just for being a dedicated fan.

RE: Little Help

Hey, I know you were directing that question at Lindayoris15, but I believe I can answer that question for you -- if you're talking about the REALLY HUGE resolutions (actual resolutions), I didn't see or hear news about that version of that Wendy NSMB Wii art surfacing. All she found was the 1280 x 1280 version (the "internet standard") which she uploaded to these parts for use on articles here on the Wiki. Hope that answers everything. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! The Peach/Daisy Art for Mario Sports Mix

Hey there, I'm curious to find out -- where were you able to find this version of said art by any chance? I've been searching the 'net, and it seems like that picture you uploaded was VERY elusive to me. >_> --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 17:43, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

RE: Proposal

Good evening FD09. :)

This is the actual link to Princess Daisy's gallery: Gallery:Princess Daisy. In the main article, there's already a link to the gallery under the header "Image Gallery". Under that header, it will say "For pictures, see this subject's Gallery". Hope this helps. BTW, for Baby Daisy, that gallery isn't even large enough to have it's own gallery page. -- RAP... 08:30, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

The Recent Edits To Daisy's "Mario Party Series" section

Hey there, FD09; nothing personal, but the recent edits that you did on that section of Daisy's article were a bit much because from what I (and possibly others) have read, it's not focusing on Daisy herself (instead, it's focusing on all participants), hence the revert. Once again, nothing personal, but that's what I encountered in the recent edit history on this article from you. The article itself was all right before you placed in those unnecessary additions which took away the focus on Daisy herself from what I saw. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 05:54, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Revert on Walkazo's edit

Once again, no offense, but I see that you reverted an edit done by Walkazo on the Princess Daisy article (when he took out sections under the Relations to Other Characters). Care to explain why? Because this tells me you're saying that those characters DO count in regards to Daisy interacting with them, and should not have been touched. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 19:03, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I had to do another rollback again on the Princess Daisy article again just now -- but against two people -- but what I wrote is what you're also trying to say, right? (which is: "Seriously, think VERY carefully before inserting/changing stuff around.)" --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 14:37, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

RE: Images

I'm not sure what to say...except ask you a series of questions:

  • Do you have any emulators at your disposal? From the earliest, to the latest? (Direct way to snapshot very clear images, but slow because you have to get were you need to go)
  • Alternatively, what kind of websites do you use if you can't get what you find? (Mine is GameKult, mainstream and underground game sites, and most of the time Google - if you do creative ways to type good keywords)
  • Do you have a compression program that can compress your images without the loss of quality? PNG in particular? Additionally, do you have tools to clean up white remains when it comes to seeing character artwork? (Improves image compression)

I asked you these questions to determine the stuff I can assign to you, or if optional - you can request a list of what kind of game you want to focus on. I can't replace all the images alone, since I'm still having my time doing image maintenance (it's day 14) so I need assistance. If you have any additional details regarding your experience on uploading images like other image uploaders, feel free to provide more info. -- RAP... 21:46, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Damn - it's been quite a while since I went to that press room. I don't quite remember it but it was rather generic. I'll try telling you when I remembered it enough. BTW, please answer the questions above (I'm about to do some more MarioWiki maintenance on images within a moment, but it will not be my primary focus). -- RAP... 20:48, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Ah, OK. I'll give you something to do - from the Nintendo 64 era: Mario Tennis (N64)

The image must be no larger than 640 × 480 (likely due to emulation issues, as it cannot properly emulate certain parts that make it look like the actual image, additionally it would look weird when it's scaled up). It must be also PNG, and due to the fact you're going to upload PNG files - I think it's time for you to give you a compression tool that I use for the majority of the png images: PNG Monster. -- RAP... 03:23, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Policy

I don't know where it is, actually. My main computer can't load the proposals archives, and all I've found while using the laptop is one voting down the removal of those sections. I'm sure there was an agreement since then to at least moderate them, but not destroy them, but I haven't dug it up yet, I'm afraid. It could also be in the main page's talk archive - I recently found a discussion there which I could have sworn was a proposal... - Walkazo 05:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough: I usually try to find the actual proposals or conversations as well, but my lousy memory for dates trips me up more times than I'd like to admit. However, I do request that you don't re-add the "Other Characters" section to Daisy's page, since that goes against how every other Relationship section is organized: if you really feel that Toad and Toadette deserve to be mentioned, they should get individual sections. - Walkazo 06:38, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Huh?

This might be a bit random, but Dry Dry King basically interupted important conversations just to ask to be friends. I <3 BVB!!

Hey, aren't you the voice actress for Daisy? I might be wrong, but I'm under the impression you are. I <3 BVB!!

Koopalings' images

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by sharpening the artwork's outline. In terms of making images transparent, I have to remove the white background color and initially replace it with transparency for efficiency, and clarity (for those background colors in the wiki). One possible reason would be that the wiki's image rendering system had to resize the PNG image to the intended thumbnail size the article is supposed to be viewed (in comparison to JPG images, it will go for the same thing, but defects will appear on the image, and around it). The resized image wouldn't be like a zoomed out original size image that actually shows the flakes (Use Firefox or IE that has the zoom option on a large image you are viewing and zoom out to see the image being sharp: like File:DK_DKSwing.png). But again, I'm still not sure. Can you clarify this a bit further? -- RAP... 07:15, 22 August 2010 (UTC) Still don't actually get it, I recently uploaded compressed images (during image maintenance - almost to the end!) with transparency and they look great. I suppose it's the defects around the image when the image used to be in JPG form that makes it less sharp.

If you didn't get your response in your talk page (which is here), I changed up the communication a bit - that I only make comments in my own talk page. My comment responding to yours is in there. :o -- RAP... 08:30, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

PNG Compressing

  • I want to let you know that RAP is doing a project which involves compressing every single PNG image on the Mario Wiki. Please don't oppose his work by reverting PNG images to their non-compressed forms, as image compression makes it easier for people to view large images.   M&SG (talk) 13:14, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Princess Daisy (film)

I've been gone from the Wiki for quite a few months but I'm back to do some work on articles related to the film. I noticed you did a lot of expansion on the Princess Daisy (film character) article I created so I just wanted to thank you. I'm going to be doing a lot of rewrites and expansion myself since I'm more familiar with the backstory of her character that wasn't seen in the film but it really is a big help to be able to work off something already there. Re:WHOA

Eh… I told Porplemontage how to fix it. It was caused by some sort of a glitch in the wiki's caching software that prevented the list of ip addresses that had tried too many incorrect passwords on a given account from being cleared. The feature that normally checks that list and stops you from logging in if you're on it is disabled now, so it shouldn't cause a problem again in the future. - 2257(Talk) 06:40, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Mario Sports Mix Materials

I just got your message from your "other account"; you still haven't told me about that White Mage art for Mario Sports Mix that you have edited from that White Mage/Black Mage team pic that Lindsay151 uploaded to these parts earlier (and as I said on your other talk page, I too have asked her where she got said materials from; I tried searching foreign gaming news websites and turned up with nothing). --M. No, I didn't say that there wasn't anything wrong with what you're doing; it's fine so far. And I'm still waiting on Lindsay151 to answer our question on said MSM arts she recently uploaded here. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 07:20, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
