Hello readers of The 'Shroom, and welcome to Spotlight. Spotlight is a community project which aims to fix up the articles on the wiki which have issues. These issues can range from poor writing to a lack of images, to even just needing a credible source.
Welcome to July's edition of Spotlight. And as you can tell, we're doctors this month, and as such our Spotlight focuses aren't actually focuses, but are instead patients. So, please treat them with the care and compassion you would anyone else. Their conditions (needing an additional source, better quality writing) may not be terminal, but they still need our utmost care.
And as an old doctor, I can't always provide that necessary care, and so I'm looking to bring on a new intern. Yes, Spotlight is officially hiring a co-director for the project. You will be sharing responsibilities with myself for getting each edition of Spotlight created, that includes an introduction, recap of last month and choosing the focuses. There will also be responsibilities in updating necessary pages and the forum topic, as well as interacting with users about improving the tagged articles. Think you're up for the job? Then, send in your application now!
As for recaps, we had a pretty successful month last time, getting just over 50% of everything completed. Although River Piranha Plant and Sluggers Tornado Swing.jpg weren't touched, we did manage to get everything else completed. So, Toadette the Achiever (talk) created Kamek's Curse, thus lifting it from me and also handled the other routes for River Survival; Salmancer (talk) rewrote Chomp Ruins to an acceptable standard; TheFlameChomp (talk) added a proper layout section to Pipeline Boom Lagoon, and even got Mount Must Dash as well, and DarkNight (talk) added an image of Gold Lakitu for Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, although we still need one for New Super Mario Bros. 2.
And now onto this month's focuses:
Article | Category | Focuses |
---|---|---|
We didn't have a lot of luck with this World 3 of this game last time; although it has since been created. Hopefully, we'll create this one before the next deadline. | ||
We might've lost the lunge fish, but we've also lost almost all information for this level. The layout section is pitiful, like a Lunge Fish has actually eaten it, so let's get this properly written. | ||
When you look at Mario & Luigi (series), this page is a sorry affair, only featuring some vague descriptions of each game. Yes, puzzles games and RPGs are two different beasts, but this page could do with a dedicated gameplay section, as well as a general overview of the protagonists (Dr. Mario and co) and the antagonists (the Viruses). | ||
We only featured this a few months back, and it's already back on our radar, and not just for more images for VS. Dr. Mario, no, the main thing we want from this is a source for the ACE review, saying this game "reeks of plagiarism". Maybe some archives got moved online, or someone has an old copy lying around at home. | ||
The image descriptor tags are pretty good at telling you what you need to do for this gallery. We need more sprites and models, particularly of sad doctors and we need the missing losing animations as well. | ||
My colleague Dr. Wario might not be the most caring doctor out there, but he deserves better than this slightly blurry phone crop. |
Now just before I leave you, I'd like to tell you about unimplemented proposals. There are currently nineteen that need to be implemented, one of which dating back to 2015, so think of this as a continuous Spotlight goal until they're all completed. I would also like to briefly highlight the trivia section on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, although it doesn't have a trivia tag on it, it is still fairly long and could do with some parts being moved or removed.
Thanks for tuning in to the newest edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! Be sure to turn up next month, where we'll be reviewing the progress on the above focuses. If you have any questions or suggestions about this month's set of the article focuses, then please get in touch through the dedicated topic if you have a forum account. If not, then please contact myself on my wiki talk page, but you are far more likely to get a quick response if you go through the forums. You are also welcome to make suggestions on what you think we could focus on in our next edition! Thank you, and good luck!
