To make the minigame more interesting, [[Whomp Block]]s are introduced in the minigame as they remain hiding in the piles of boxes. If one of the players hit those hidden blocks, the particular block reveals itself with the appearing worried face symbol as it bounces the player back from a few feet from the boxes. They may contain some coins that are scattered around the room instead of players collecting it by simply breaking the box. Occasionally, inside of one of the boxes contains [[Coin Bag]]s that are worth five coins. These items are also scattered around when the player breaks and reveals them in the open.
The minigame can be purchased from the [[Mini-Game House]] for 200 Coins when it is available.

There is no winner or loser when the minigame ended when the time limit is up, or when there are no boxes left. All the players participated and gathered the amount of coins they collected in the mini-game.

Box Mountain Mayhem is a 4-Player Coin-collecting minigame in Mario Party. Unlike other minigames, this minigame focuses on players freely collecting Coins instead of battling to win the minigame.

Gameplay[edit]

The objective of the minigame is to break the stacks of boxes to collect as many Coins as possible within the time limit of 30 seconds. Players can stun each other for a short time with different results. If a player is jumped on, the player is partially flattened and cannot punch. If a player is punched, the player is pushed back a few feet. If a player is attacked with a Hip Drop, the player is flattened onto the ground and cannot move. Whomp Blocks hide in the piles of boxes. If one of the players hits a Whomp Block, the block reveals itself with its face symbol as it bounces the player back a few feet from the boxes. They may contain some Coins that are scattered around the room. Occasionally, one of the boxes contains a Coin Bag that is worth five Coins. Coin Bags are also scattered around when the player breaks the boxes containing them and reveals them in the open. The minigame ends when all boxes have been broken or when time is up.

The minigame can be purchased from the Mini-Game House for 200 Coins when it is available.
