Roy is a a 15-Year Old swordsman, and a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. He is a character from the Fire Emblem series, a series known only in Japan. Marth, another Fire Emblem character, is also in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is unknown if he will make a return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, considering his only appearance was in Japan.

He, along with Marth, visited the Mushroom Kingdom in the aforementioned game, Super Smash Bros. Melee. He acted as an Unlockable Character, unlocked by beating Classic or Adventure Mode as Marth and then beating Roy. Roy is a clone of Marth, and has all of his attacks. However, he is both slower and heavier than Marth, but packs more power, and expels Fire from most of his attacks. Overall, he is the fastest of the heavy-weight characters.

Interestingly, Super Smash Bros. Melee was Roy's first appearance in any Nintendo game. He would later star in the Japan-only game Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi. So, his appearance in Melee was done to advertise his later appearance in the said game. Additionally, Roy and Marth only speak Japanese in all versions of the game, and Roy was voiced by Jun Fukuyama.
