DON'T MERGE 11-16

Ever since the proposal of merging Ultimate Chimera, I thought about how Whispy Woods has its own article. So me and Reversinator decided it needed to be merged.

Proposer: Magikrazy51 (talk)
Deadline: March 29, 2011 23:59 GMT Delayed Extension (see below): May 11, 2011, 23:59 GMT

Support[edit]

  1. Magikrazy51 (talk) Per my proposal and this.
  2. Zero777 (talk) I am Zero! Again, leave it to the WiKirby and/or Smash Wiki. Zero signing out.
  3. Reddragon19k (talk) Per all! I like this proposal!
  4. SKmarioman (talk) Per all. Whispy Woods is a Kirby thing, not Mario.
  5. SWFlash (talk) Per proposer.
  6. Bowser's luma (talk) I opposed the merger of Ulitmate Chimera, and would therefore also oppose this, I wish to keep everything consistant. I'd rather be right than president.
  7. Tails777 (talk) Per all. The Ultimate Chimera was merged to New Pork City because it was a stage hazard. The Wispy Wood is also a stage hazard therefore should be merged.
  8. Luigi is OSAM (talk) This is a Mario website, so the Kirby locations would be good as 1 article
  9. Nicke8 (talk) Per Luigi is OSAM
  10. Mario4Ever (talk) I'm supporting the Kraid merge, so it's only fair that I do the same here. Besides, the mention in Mario im Wunderland can probably be incorporated into one of the stage articles, since Whispy is an anthropomorphic stage hazard and thus can be addressed by name.
  11. DKPetey99 (talk) Per Mario4Ever.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Walkazo (talk) - If it was just an environmental hazard, I'd support merging it, like I supported the Ultimate Chimera merge, but it's also a character (with lines and everything) in Super Mario: Mario im Wunderland, and for that reason, it has to stay.
  2. UltraMario3000 (talk) Per Walkazo.
  3. Edofenrir (talk) - Per Walkazo.
  4. Bop1996 (talk) I didn't know it had lines. (I don't know why I didn't check the article) Per all.
  5. Marioguy1 (talk) - Per Walkazo
  6. Count Bonsula (talk) - Per Walkazo.
  7. LeftyGreenMario (talk) It is not a simple stage hazard unlike others.
  8. Iggykoopa (talk) per all
  9. Gamefreak75 (talk) Per Walkazo
  10. Xzelion (talk) - Per Walkazo!
  11. yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk) Per Walky
  12. Reversinator (talk) Per all.
  13. kirby9612 (talk)In wario land,in Parsley woods, there are trees that look like whispy woods.
  14. Ratfink43 (talk) The guy has a trophy, so is more than a hazard
  15. theguywithtwohats (talk)Per all.
  16. Master Crash (talk) Per Walkazo.

Comments[edit]

I don't think the article needs to be merged. The only portion that needs mentioning is the reference in the Club Nintendo comic. The rest can be deleted, as Whispy Woods is already mentioned as an environmental hazard in each of the stages in which he appears. Mario4Ever (talk)

If that happened, Whispy Woods would become a stub. Better to just merge it. Magikrazy51 (talk)
You misunderstand me. I don't think that Whispy Woods should have an article, but there really isn't much information other than the Club Nintendo reference that is worth adding to the articles about Dream Land and Green Greens, so it's not really merging. Mario4Ever (talk)
@Mario4Ever: The page will probably be deleted after the merge, the merge is just to move the information from one article to another. Bop1996 (talk)

Then why'd you support it, Bowser's Luma? Magikrazy51 (talk)

If the common wiki populace wants it to be merged in the situation of Ultimate Chimera, which did pass and was merged, therefore Whispy Woods should be merged also. Although I don't like the idea, if it's gonna go down the way it did with the Chimera, this should be the same. It's inconsistent and not good to have one article one way and another article with the same situation another. Bowser's luma (talk)
Great! My first proposal and even those who opposed the Ultimate Chimera merge are supporting. Pretty good for a first proposal. Magikrazy51 (talk)
@Magikrazy: I think what BL is saying is that while he thinks the enemies from other series with appearances in SSB games should stay separate, he thinks that there needs to be one uniform standard on what gets an article in this case. Also, you should have some links so people know what you are talking about. I can do it for you, or you can do it yourself. Bop1996 (Talk)

"The page will probably be deleted after the merge," - No, that's not how it works: even if all the links are updated, there's a good chance that people will still try to search for "Whispy Woods", and so it has to stay as a redirect, like how Ultimate Chimera is a redirect. - Walkazo 19:38, 21 March 2011 (EDT)

I agree with Walkazo. It doesn't say "delete", it says merge. Magikrazy51 (talk)

@Magikrazy51 it wouldnt make a stub if it had all the right info Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

Iv'e been thinking about it and maybe if this proposal passes, I'd put in Whispy Wood's trophy section and add a trivia section saying "Whispy Woods also appeared in Mario im Wunderland where he told Mario to see Crab, the wizard" or something along those lines. If this is a good enough mention of that comic, feel free to change. With a solution, The Magikrazy 3DMagik.jpg

Seeing as how I find this similar to this proposal, I think Whispy Woods' trophy info can be added to the list of trophies in Melee (or Brawl, if there's one in there...haven't played Brawl in forever). As for the comic mention, I think that works, but that's just me. Mario4Ever (talk)

But that's not consistant because he's not just some random stage hazard he's an independent character with independent appearances Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

So is Kraid, but Kraid got merged to Brinstar Depths. Mario4Ever (talk)

did Kraid appear in any other Mario related media cause im not trying to be sarcatstic i really have no idea Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

He appears in Nintendo Monopoly, and that was easily incorporated into the Brinstar Depths article. Considering how Whispy Woods' only other appearance is in Mario im Wunderland, I don't see why the same thing can't be done with these articles. Mario4Ever (talk)

Well i don't consider Nintendo Monopoly to be an official mario thing largely cause it's a board game with no real relation to Mario unlike Club Nintendo which has a real plot. Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

That doesn't mean the information pertaining to Club Nintendo can't be incorporated into these articles (more likely one, since it'd be redundant to have it in both). If there was a paragraph detailing Whispy's involvement, I'd understand, but it's about one or two short sentences' worth of information. Also, if it means anything, the majority of spaces in the 2006 version of Nintendo Monopoly belonged to Mario series characters. Mario4Ever (talk)

However, it makes a short appearance in the Club Nintendo comic "Super Mario: Mario im Wunderland." Whispy Woods is the first creature Mario encounters in Wunderland when he accidently gets there. It does not serve as an enemy here, though; rather it advices Mario to go to Crab, a wizard who is able to fulfill desires. Also i might have surported this but every time Whispy woods appears it's in a different location never the same also you surported the opposed the Fish one why not this

It doesn't matter how many times Whispy appears because its role in the Mario series (as you have quoted) is not only minor, but also in my opinion minor enough to easily be incorporated into one of the stage articles. As for the Fish proposal, its role in the WarioWare series is a lot more specific compared to the roles of Kraid and Whispy in other media. Therefore, it is difficult to merge that information effectively into the Summit article. Mario4Ever (talk)

Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

No its not different why would you merge info into a location that has nothing to do with said location just because it's minor does not mean it should be merged Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

@Ratfink43 That's not a valid reason. The subject of this proposal has a trophy but was nevertheless merged. Mario4Ever (talk)

how is his opinion that because something has a trophy any less valid it's his opinion on why he thinks something shouldnt be merged just because one talk page proposal says something does not make it the established rule of the wiki Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

I'm new, can I remove reasons that seem invalid? Magikrazy51 (talk)

@Goomba's Shoe15 I'm considering this article to be in the same situation the Kraid article was, remember? Kraid's trophy information wasn't enough to keep it from being merged, so this shouldn't be different in my opinion.
@Magikrazy51 Since I'm assuming that all rules pertaining to mainspace proposals (sans the No-Signature Policy) apply to TPPs, the decision to remove a user's vote lies solely with the administration (Patrollers, Sysops, Bureaucrats). Mario4Ever (talk)

Usually, when its merge to,the entire article doesnt get merged and simply deleted, Kirby9612

OK[edit]

So how do I do this? I'm new at these proposal things. Magikrazy51 (talk)

Well, this is unprecedented...[edit]

The proposal was marked as settled, removed from the list on the proposals page, and left alone. I looked through the revision history and found that Nicke8 voted after the deadline, but the margin would have been 9-8, so it should have been extended. Should we just change the template and such so it's active again, and mark the deadline as if it had just started, and been extended for a week? Bop1996 (Talk)

I just asked a sysop, but he's not currently online. When he or another sysop is online, I'm sure we'll have a solution. It certainly is a peculiar situation given the amount of time that has passed since this was archived.... Mario4Ever (talk) 21:13, 3 May 2011 (EDT)

Prolly i noticed that right after it happened but like i said i misinterpeted the rules but yeah it shouls either be nullified and than re opened or it should just be re opened with the articles split Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

We should reopen it, setting the deadline a week after this date, and the changes should be reverted (until the proposal passes legitimately, assuming that happens). Better late than never that we correct this mistake. - Walkazo 21:25, 3 May 2011 (EDT)
Sorry for being offline, but what Walkazo said. (and I see that already happened so...yeah...) Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC

Sorry, guys. This was my first proposal. I thought that if it wasn't a tie, but only one or so votes off, it should only be extended after 10 or more votes. I thought that meant 10 votes on side. Magikrazy51 (talk)
