Is this page nessasary?

I believe that this page should be merged to Helmet (Super Paper Mario). My reasoning here is very simple and straightforward.

• This is the same subject as Helmet (Super Paper Mario), just in a "different state". The only thing "seperate" about it, other than the name, is likely how it's coded internally... which isn't a sufficient enough argument on its own.
• The article itself is very short. It would not be very difficult to incorporate its information into the Helmet page.
• It is overall rather questionable why it was a separate article in the first place. Perhaps it was a leftover from when Helmet attempted to cover multiple different subjects at once, such as the Helmet from Sunshine?

I think a wiki about video games should be pretty generous about game mechanics. Its an item that you use to turn it into another item. That kind of mechanic defines an entire genre: the point and click adventure. They merit two separate pages. Also, this would affect oter key items across the franchise, like the Birdcage and the Caged "Bird". Salmancer (talk) 19:40, October 2, 2026 (UTC)

Conversely, I think an encyclopedia should be pretty generous about ease of usage for the reader. The fact that you have to read two different pages to learn the functions of a singular object strikes as unnecessarily tedious. 69.151.217.109 19:44, October 2, 2026 (UTC)

I would actually support merging Caged "Bird" to Birdcage (or vice versa) as well. As for any other pages... I'd have to assess their contents individually before I make any wide-scope declarations regarding them.

However, in terms of this page specifically... It really doesn't have anything going for it.

If it weren't for the (entirely unsourced) Niol section, this page would be nothing more than a three-sentence paragraph coupled with an infobox. (The gallery did not exist until I created during the start of this discussion.)

Additionally, Super Paper Mario is not a part of the point-and-click genre. (Tippi's functionality nonwithstanding.) It is a platformer-styled RPG. And within the narrative of the game itself, these two items are the same object.

There is nothing in this entire article which couldn't just as easily be covered on the Helmet page, and I don't see how the "game mechanic" example resolves any of my issues, let alone justify why this page need to be separate despite its minimal value. Actually, upon further review, it appears that the Helmet page already does a better job covering this subject than this page does. The entirety of this page's writing on the Goldfish Bowl is also covered on the Helmet page in some capacity, with better writing. This means that the only unique things about this entire article are the infobox, the Niol section, and the three images in the gallery. None of which are quite enough to save it, in my opinion.

All of this could easily be incorporated into the Helmet page without any real loss of information, nor would it take much effort to do so.

I am now doubly convinced that this page really doesn't have any good reason to remain separate. If anything, it should have been turned into a redirect ages ago. Wandering Poplin (talk) 23:49, October 3, 2026 (UTC)
