What began as a simple research into the source of the name Baker (thank you, Shroom Spotlight) sent me spiraling into a rabbit hole that ended up with me overhauling the entire page for Mario Artist: Polygon Studio (the draft of which you can find here, feedback welcome!) and its relevant pages. This research has convinced me that, not only the page's name is entirely conjectural and based on a translation, but the actual page should equally cover both brothers. Let me explain.
In this game's Jikken World, various slices of bread can be found with hints written on them (yes, really). These bread slices have been baked by a bakery run initially by the black-hatted twin currently identified by the wiki as the Baker. He's never directly referred as such by the game or any in-game hint that I could find. At the end of the first of two main areas, the black-hatted twin leaves the bakery on the hands of his red-hatted brother, and leaves on an adventure. His brother takes on the role as the author of the hints in the second area (now on slices baked with the black-hatted twin's face), an equally important role. At the end of the second area, the red-hatted twin also leaves on an adventure, giving the player hints on how to find him and his brother.
At that point, by flying upwards for several minutes, the player can reach the red-hatted brother, who has found himself turned into a collectible part used to decorate your vehicle (a grim end). This part is named バンザーイ ("banzāi"). If, instead of upwards, the player flies forward for several minutes, they instead reach the black-hatted brother (our "Baker"), who has also found himself turned into a part. This part is named うでたて (udetate, "push-up"). Those rooms are visibly right next to each other, despite being accessed from wildly different directions. I believe those are the only direct names those two characters are referred by.

Rename the page (or pages)Edit

Regarding their names, I believe they should be Udetate and Banzāi, taken from their names as collectible parts. I imagine some folks could take issue with using names clearly assigned based on the poses their collectible parts are making, not the characters themselves, but nevertheless, they are names. If the following proposal passes, the page would be renamed Udetate and Banzāi. If it fails and this one passes, each name will be used for their respective page.

- LadySophie17 (talk) Per proposal.
- PopitTart (talk) They're as close as we're gonna get to explicit names, then so be it.
- EvieMaybe (talk) i don't think there's any reason to name the collectible part "Udetate" or "Banzai" if that's not their names.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per proposal. If Yakuman DS can receive its English name from Toadsworth's Brawl trophy, there's no reason to assume these guys can't get their names from the parts that are basically just them.
- Arend (talk) Makes more sense to use over the conjectural "Baker" name (which may have made sense if it weren't for the fact that it's an English word when the only game it could've come from is only in Japanese). But what makes it especially striking to me is that "Udetate" means "push-up", which gels well with an absolutely defining trait of this character: doing sit-ups.
Also wait, they wear hats? That's NOT their hairstyles? - SolemnStormcloud (talk) Per all.

Cover both brothers in the same pageEdit

Regarding their coverage, I believe the two brothers are 99% of the time seen together (in other games) or have very similar roles in Polygon Studio, and the only substantial differences in their appearances are: A. Udutate has notes in the first area while Banzāi has notes in the second. B. The two brothers are found in technically separate areas located next to each other, accessed through different paths. For this reason, I think they should be merged like Kat & Ana. If this is opposed, Banzāi will be covered in a separate page. If the previous proposal fails but this one passes, the page would then be moved to the conjectural Bakers as it would be covering two characters.

- LadySophie17 (talk) Per proposal.
- PopitTart (talk) It always bothered me that this article treats "The Baker" as a unique character more important then "his brother", when in every appearance besides Polygon Studio they can't even be told apart. Per proposal.
- EvieMaybe (talk) per proposal. splitting the info apart into two articles makes no sense.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per proposal. Seeing as we've already merged character pairs like this, such as Cork and Cask, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad, or Chef Torte and Apprentice, it seems only fair for these two to share a page when they are expressly a duo.
- Arend (talk) It's, uh, odd that the article is named after one character when it covers two characters that are (almost) always seen together

Comments (Let's get this bread)Edit
@EvieMaybe I was initially unsure on the names because the decorative parts are depictions of their names. Undetate (Push-up) is a figure doing push-ups and Banzai is a figure commemorating, so they might not necessarily be proper Character Names, even if they are used to identify the characters. — Lady Sophie (T|C) 20:08, October 15, 2025 (EDT)
@Arend Upon further inspection, I can see that whatever they have on their head does not have brims, when I previously thought they did. With that said, I'm not sure what they are. Shortly cropped hair? Beanies? Swimming caps (since they exercise)? — Lady Sophie (T|C) 20:15, October 15, 2025 (EDT)
Based on precedent (such as the examples in Camwoodstock's vote), I think it should be "Udetate and Banzai" rather than "Udetate & Banzai", unless the latter has been used officially (as is the case for WarioWare duos like Kat & Ana). - Fair enough. Updated. — Lady Sophie (T|C) 20:49, October 15, 2025 (EDT)
The cheering brother is actually called「バンザーイ」(Banzāi) with a long "ā", not「バンザイ」(Banzai). Jdtendo(T|C) 02:41, October 16, 2025 (EDT)
- Good catch, thanks for pointing that out. Proposal updated. — Lady Sophie (T|C) 16:36, October 16, 2025 (EDT)
