Mario Tennis Open is a sports game for the Nintendo 3DS and the fifth direct installment of the Mario Tennis series (developed by Camelot Software Planning). The game features gyroscope support and online multiplayer (using the Nintendo Network procedures). This is the first handheld installment in the series to not include a Story Mode or RPG elements and the first handheld installment with a Tournament mode. This game is also the first Super Mario game to use QR (Quick Response) codes. In this case, it is used to unlock playable characters and the Yoshi costume. The game required 2019 blocks to download from the Nintendo eShop until it was removed from the service after its discontinuation on March 27, 2023. The Nintendo Network service was terminated on April 8, 2024, making the game no longer playable online.

The opening of the Donkey Kong Country theme park area at Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan has been delayed from the spring of 2024 to late 2024. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 (pictured) was held on April 14, 2024. Player "Purple", who represented Japan, won the competition and was declared the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe world champion. Wrecking Crew '98 was released internationally for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online application on April 12, 2024, marking its first official release outside of Japan. As announced on October 4, 2023, Nintendo Network was terminated on April 8, 2024 at 5:00 PM PDT, discontinuing online play and functionality on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. For a short time, this also indirectly made it no longer possible to redownload purchased DLC released for certain Nintendo 3DS titles, though this has since been fixed.

Double Deck (pictured) is the only battle course from Mario Kart 64 that has yet to reappear in a later Mario Kart game. Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam is the only installment in the Mario & Luigi series where Beanish characters are not seen at any point in the game. In the Japanese versions of the Mario & Luigi games, Fawful puts strings of "ru" (る) into his sentences, and sometimes says "Fururururu" (ふるるるるるる). In the Mario Kart 7 E3 2010 demo, Rock Rock Mountain and Mario Circuit did not have Glide Ramps.
