20 px is way to small! Max2 you can't see the images!
- That's the point. If the image is unrecognizable at 20px, the image was too big right from the get go. Remember, this is speaking of sig images, which must fit in a small space and not stretch the screen. -- Chris 22:36, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- On that point, there is some leeway. Take the spooks in my sig. They are bigger than 20px (which would look like this:). It's just a guide line. -- Chris 22:38, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- If it looks better at 30px, you can scale it to there. Wa TC@Y 22:52, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- C'mon, can't it be 50px?
- I for one do not understand why we keep limits on size. Some users have large text in their sigs which is pretty much the same as an image. If anything, users should shrink the text in their sigs as well if this rule is to be enforced.Knife (talk) 23:09, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- >:(
- Actually, I agree with Knife. We should have a set size standard for sigs. -- Chris 00:26, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

I agree that the writing size shouldn't be too large, and the pixs should be a little bigger.-- Aipom --
Linking to personal images externally?
On my Wiki, we have a policy that allows one personal image and then using offsite images for the rest. Are we allowed to link to offsite images for our use here? --Crazyswordsman 13:24, 2 May 2007 (EDT)
I was wondering, can you have a personal image that you use in your signature and on your userpage? CrystalYoshi 13:12, 12 October 2008 (EDT)
List of Personal Images
Before I left for six months, I vaguely remember there was a page that showed a list of all the personal images. I'm not talking about the category for the personal images, I mean a page that not only showed the image, but who it belongs to as well. I've tried looking for it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Was it deleted, or do I have bad memory? GreenDisaster 14:48, 30 March 2012 (EDT)
- I believe you're referring to this? Which, iirc, no longer works now that the DPL extension has been removed from the wiki.

- Yeah, that's it. Thanks. GreenDisaster 19:32, 30 March 2012 (EDT)
Images in Drafts
I have a Drafts user subpage that I keep article drafts in. If I upload images for my drafts, do they count as personal images? Thanks! -YFJ (talk · edits) 21:16, 11 June 2017 (EDT)
- If you intend on putting the images into the full finished article, then no (try to use them, though, otherwise, they're going to go unused and have to be deleted). Alternatively, you can wait until the article is completed and posted before you upload the images. 21:25, 11 June 2017 (EDT)
Change to Personal File?
From what I've seen, it looks like I can upload personal music and videos. However, we still tag it with {{personal-image}}. Should we move the file and this policy page to make that more clear? Thanks! -YFJ (talk · edits) 20:13, 14 January 2018 (EST)
Redefine Personal Image Policy
Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome This has been sitting in the back of my mind for a while now. I find it kind of hard and arbitrary to enforce a 4:1 (4 userspace, 1 signature) personal image policy. There are some users who use three images for a signature and use the remaining slots as regular images (see Category:Personal images in signatures). I propose we just allow five personal images total and leave it up to the users to decide how to use them, as long as they follow signature (#7) and userspace (first header) policies. Merge {{personal-image-sig}} with {{personal-image}}. Change MarioWiki:Personal images, MarioWiki:Signatures MarioWiki:Userspace, {{personal-image-warning}}, and any missing related pages to reflect the change.

Support
- wildgoosespeeder (talk) Per proposal.
- Bazooka Mario (talk) Easier to enforce to up the limit to five (though perhaps we can recommend 1 being a personal image for the signature so at least that's how the original rule worked) rather than a slightly convoluted rule that allocates only one image for signatures.
- 7feetunder (talk) Per proposal.
- YoshiEgg1990 (talk) Per all.

Maybe we can free up two personal images just for sig use and four personal images for nonsig use. I don't see how this rule of restricting personal images further. If people are using three personal images as a sig, would be violating the rules anyway though. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:36, 30 July 2018 (EDT)
- The idea is to remove seemingly unnecessary restrictions that tell the user how they should use their personal images while still keeping a limit to how many they can have uploaded at any given time. We already have rules that govern how the images should be used within reason, but why have the 4:1 limit in addition to the other rules I mentioned? That's what I mean by arbitrary. Is there some sort of reason for it? I feel that the rules I mentioned are good enough. We don't need the extra clause of 4:1. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:18, 30 July 2018 (EDT)
Still need one more vote so this isn't a no quorum... anyone? 19:17, 12 August 2018 (EDT)
Question
If you link an image through Imgur, you can have infinite personal images without exceeding the wiki policy. If so, what's the point of this? --DarkNight 23:54, September 8, 2020 (EDT)
- Yeah, imgur's a work around. You just should not have more than five uploaded locally. But imgur doesn't work in thumbnails and galleries. Also, it'd probably be best if imgur links were not used in signatures. 23:58, September 8, 2020 (EDT)
Line change requests
I have noticed two lines that stuck out to me on the page, mostly for the reason of being exclusive.
The first line is under the "Abandoned images" section:
'''Before labeling an image as abandoned on behalf of another user, please ensure that he or she does not intend to continue using it in the near future''' (especially if the user is still under the numerical limit).
I believe this should be changed to:
'''Before labeling an image as abandoned on behalf of another user, please ensure that they do not intend to continue using it in the near future''' (especially if the user is still under the numerical limit).
Secondly, in the "Images in use by more than one person" section, there is the following line:
*Attribute it to the person who uploaded it if he or she is using it.
I believe this should be changed to the following:
*Attribute it to the person who uploaded it if they are using it.

On the article, it says that you are allowed to upload audio files for your userpages, but I have never seen people doing that, so is that feature still allowed? If the feature is allowed, then how should the personal audio files be categorized? It will just be weird seeing audio files categorized as images. WildWario (talk) 21:46, October 23, 2021 (EDT)
