Blue Ladders near two Mini Marios

Blue Ladders[1] are ladders that are only found in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!. Once a Mini steps in front of a Blue Ladder, it immediately climbs or descends it, and then continue walking in the direction they were facing before. Fireballs are the only enemies that use Blue Ladders.

Blue Ladders can only be built vertically between two blue rivets, using the touchscreen. They are a resource item, meaning that the player needs to have a certain number of pieces to build a Blue Ladder from one rivet to another. In order to remove and collect pieces from one place, the player has to tap a rivet that is adjacent to one or two Blue Ladders. Objects called Ladder Pickups appear in some levels with Blue Ladders, which give more Blue Ladder pieces upon being collected by the Minis. A large variation of Ladder Pickups appear as well, granting the player five pieces instead of only one. Blue Ladders are introduced in Sandstorm Steps, where they form the principal mechanic, and continue to appear in subsequent worlds.

In all of these regards, including them appearing in the fifth world, Blue Lifts from Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars are analogous to Blue Ladders.
