Plunder Ground is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. Its name comes from "underground" and "plunder" (meaning "treasure").

Introduction[edit]

The view slowly moves to the one seen, as the players are standing on the island, before four treasure chests.

Gameplay[edit]

In each round, jewels fall into four treasure chests carried by Monty Moles. The Monty Moles then burrow, scrambling themselves. In the first round, three chests are filled with 10 jewels and one stays empty. In the second round, two chests are filled with 15 jewels and two stay empty. In the third round, one of the chests is filled with 10 jewels, another is filled with 20, and the other two are empty. For each round, the Monty Moles move faster than in the previous one. At the end of the minigame, the player with the most jewels wins.

This minigame also appears in Perspective Mode. In it, the camera is zoomed in on the player, making it harder to keep an eye on the Monty Moles.
