Redirects[edit]

I think this article should have redirects for associated modes like "All Mixed Up" and "Super Hard". Searching the name by themselves is not enough since they lead to non-existent pages. I might consider making the redirects first but I want to know what people think about this idea first. --EleCyon (talk) 10:33, April 7, 2024 (EDT)

Move to All Mixed Up?[edit]

Wait a minute. Nearly every mode on this list starts from the same base as All Mixed Up. All microgames except no boss microgames, no 1-ups. The exceptions are Total Boss and Double Act Would calling the article "All Mixed Up" be incorrect? It would be on less conjectural name on the wiki. The intro could massage the nuance: "Certain modes on this page differ significantly from the base ruleset of All Mixed Up and have been grouped on this page for their similar visual theme". Salmancer (talk) 05:52, January 22, 2025 (EST)

Also if this mode was defined by its gameplay rather than its location, which this name change would support, it would fit 18-Volt's Gamer, which is just super weird to leave out given that does include renamed Thrill Ride and (sort of) Super Hard. Salmancer (talk) 15:05, February 22, 2025 (EST)
Ideally, I'd like to move to a title that more accurately describes these towers as a group, as opposed to the one mode. However, the only official name fitting such criteria is the Elephant Towers in WarioWare: Smooth Moves, which is way too specifically tied to that game in particular since elephants were only a motif there. In that case, I suppose All Mixed Up works okay; at least better than "Variety Towers", since only the specific location for the first game's Easy genre have ever been called "Variety Tower". I suppose 18-Volt's Gamer modes could be mentioned too. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 10:08, March 29, 2025 (EDT)
Why not split them? Six pages, seems doable. Blinker (talk) 14:32, March 31, 2025 (EDT)
I would support a split. To clarify, splitting as mode articles, not location articles with a mode tied to them. Salmancer (talk) 08:52, May 15, 2025 (EDT)

Split "Variety Towers" into All Mixed Up, Thrill Ride, Super Hard, Total Boss, Thrilling, Double Act[edit]

Brown Block This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal.

do not split 0-7

"Variety Towers" should be splitted into All Mixed Up, Thrill Ride, Super Hard, Total Boss, Thrilling, Double Act, as "Nearly every mode on this list starts from the same base as All Mixed Up. All microgames except no boss microgames, no 1-ups. The exceptions are Total Boss and Double Act Would calling the article "All Mixed Up" be incorrect? It would be on less conjectural name on the wiki. Certain modes on this page differ significantly from the base ruleset of All Mixed Up and have been grouped on this page for their similar visual theme". This has been proposed before, but has yet to be made into a proposal until now.

All Mixed Up, Thrill Ride, Super Hard, Total Boss, Thrilling, Double Act, and "Variety Towers" are stronger... separate! (support)[edit]

#PawPatroler (talk) They should be split.

All Mixed Up, Thrill Ride, Super Hard, Total Boss, Thrilling, Double Act, and "Variety Towers" are stronger... together! (oppose)[edit]

  1. Camwoodstock (talk) These are a recurring feature of the WarioWare series, we don't see why they should be split up like this when they all function the same, and it's far easier to explain them all on one page like this.
  2. Power Flotzo (talk) Per Camwoodstock.
  3. Arend (talk) While this would solve the issue on what the heck to name this article (since "Variety Towers" is based solely on the name of the location for Easy in Mega Microgame$, the problem is that only All Mixed Up, Thrill Ride and Super Hard appear in more than one game... almost every game, even. The other three only appear once, and I'm not entirely sure if they need to be split off.
  4. Altendo (talk) Per.
  5. LadySophie17 (talk) Thank you to the people who explained to me in the comments what this proposal entails. Opposing it because it is poorly explained by the proposer and for the reasons listed above. Although it should be renamed to something that actually encompasses all modes.
  6. YoYo (talk) they're virtually the same, it'd be like if we made every mode in Mario Kart's VS mode be it's own page.
  7. Salmancer (talk) Welp, one can't really make the proposal any better if they're blocked until after it concludes. I do have to make good on Comment Salmancer's threat; this is still really badly written. Using the exact words of another user (me!) in this manner doesn't really speak to this proposal having much effort put into it, doubly so when you used the wrong words and thus the body of the proposal explains reasoning for moving the page to "All Mixed Up" rather than splitting it.

Comments[edit]

I am not familiar with WarioWare. Could you please explain in your proposal what any of those words you said mean in the context of the series and why they should be individual articles? Also please add commas to separate names in the title, it's quite annoying to read as is. — Lady Sophie Wiggler Sophie.png (T|C) 23:01, July 26, 2025 (EDT)

Going into a little more detail and adding to what PrincessPeachFan said. Each WarioWare game has a group of levels with different rules, usually unlocked after beating the main levels, which include microgames from all the main levels. These levels generally have consistent names between games, though that was not the case in earlier games' translations. The proposal seems to aim to split these levels, which are all currently covered on this single page, each into their own page.
The other issue with this article is its title, as mentioned in a section above. I'm going to try to explain where it came from and why it's wrong. Usually, each level in a WarioWare game starts with a cutscene, and prior to Smooth Moves, these cutscenes included shots of Diamond City where the camera panned to some location on the map, accompanied by the location's name being shown on screen. Although these extra levels don't have any cutscenes, they still included these shots, showing that each of these levels took place in a different colored tower. Again, the names of these towers are consistent in Japanese (at least prior to Smooth Moves, where the names stopped being used). One of these towers was called "Variety Tower". That's where the article title comes from. Anyways, I hope that was a helpful explanation of the situation. Blinker (talk) 13:44, July 28, 2025 (EDT)

On the one hand, I should support this proposal because this is how I feel. On the other hand, I should oppose this proposal to discourage making proposals that make their argument this poorly. Do these two things cancel out? For now, my stance is that they do cancel, but if this proposal doesn't level up I will have to oppose it. Salmancer (talk) 23:18, July 26, 2025 (EDT)

I've been wanting to cancel this for the same reasons, still discussing this among staff. If you feel this way, maybe you can remake this proposal yourself and make a stronger case for it because proposals with significant consequences for all editors shouldn't have poor foundations such as this. @LadySophie: So, the modes are ones you can play after you clear the game in most ones or completing previous towers. Basically, they let you play the microgames under new rules like Super Hard making all the microgames very fast paced. In Get it Together, you visit them as part of the main story mode but they retain their gimmicks. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:43, July 28, 2025 (EDT)
