(First topic)[edit]

I request that this page be deleted because I have merged it with Jump.

It's better to just redirect. Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions·) Paper Jorge was here at... 19:32, 22 September 2006 (EDT)

Article Issue[edit]

This article has nothing to do with Mario. I know Mario stomps and all but it's extremly off topic.

I'm just making sure that people agree with me to this first. I'm not saying to get rid of it either.

OPPOSE 2-9

Merge Stomp and Jump[edit]

They would work better in just one (Jump) article, the games say to jump on the enemies not stomp on them. They are synonymous.

Support[edit]

  1. IGGY7735 (talk) Per Me.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Mario & Luigi (talk) They are seperate moves.
  2. Bop1996 (talk) While we merged Mid-air jump to jump, a stomp is somewhat different from a jump, so I'm opposing.
  3. LeftyGreenMario (talk) Now I realize how different the two are. Jumping is a manner of avoiding obstacles or reaching to higher platforms. Stomping is a form of an attack. While actions can involving attacking, not all actions are forms of attacking.
  4. M&SG (talk) - The two words aren't exactly the same thing.
  5. Magikrazy51 (talk) In order to stomp, you need to jump. In order to make a cake, you need eggs and flour (among other things). If we were a Wiki about baking, we wouldn't merge these together. Per everybody.
  6. Wildgoose (talk) Per Magikrazy51.
  7. Mario4Ever (talk) Per all.
  8. New Super Yoshi (talk)Per Mario4Ever.
  9. RandomYoshi (talk) - Per Magikrazy51. The words "jump" and "stomp" also don't have the same meaning; they are not synonumous with eachother.

Comments[edit]

Just saying... characters in Super Smash Bros. series jump, but they don't stomp. Sprite of Mario's icon in Mario Party DS It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:02, 29 October 2011 (EDT)

In Brawl you can stomp on the opponents. I don't know why this article doesn't state that... Mario & Luigi (talk)

You could always add the information if you want. No one is telling you that just because it isn't here, it means it's not it. Sprite of Mario's icon in Mario Party DS It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:47, 30 October 2011 (EDT)

RPG Games[edit]

Isn't the jump attack in the RPG games a stomp? I mean, it's used to attack enemies.RPG Gamer. I HAVE RPG!! (talk) 04:27, 28 March 2013 (EDT)

Technically, it's a stomp, but the game calls the command, "jump". Sprite of Mario's icon in Mario Party DS It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:30, 28 March 2013 (EDT)

Ghostly Enemies[edit]

This page says ghostly enemies are not vulnerable to a stomp (broozers are vulnerable)

Underwater enemies[edit]

Starting in 2023, in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Any marine enemies can now finally stomped in the underwater, also with post-2023, future, and beyond games, unlike pre-2023 games. Such as Cheep-Cheeps, Bloopers, Cheep Chomps, Smackerels, Jellybeams, Bulbers, Fishbones, Torpedo Teds, and more

That actually was first in SM3DL, as far as main-series platformers go. No telling what the future will do, given NSMBU was between those and kept the "enemies can't be stomped underwater" thing. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:19, September 27, 2025 (EDT)
There will be post-2023, future, and beyond 2D Mario games, kept the enemies can be stomped in the underwater.

Unless Nintendo actively decided to announce and confirm, for whatever reason, that underwater enemies will always be able to be stomped in future titles, we should not extrapolate how the mechanic works in the most recently-released title to be how the mechanic will always work in every future title, let alone assert as such; especially since they have already had a game with that mechanic, and then the next game didn't have it. (3D Land let you stomp underwater enemies, and then New Super Mario Bros. U did not.) Outright speculation like this is generally not permitted on pages. I'm surprised you understood that. Sprite of Mario's icon in Mario Party DS It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 18:54, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
