Returning minigames[edit]

ESRB, Developer, Release Date[edit]

IGN lists that the ESRB rating is E. And lists the developer as Nintendo. It also lists the Release Date as Q4 2013. Chaossy (talk) 09:35, 29 April 2013 (EDT)

Boards have special mechanics?[edit]

I heard that all Boards will contain their own special rules, like Mario Party Nine, but without the Vehicles. So...is this confirmed?

Release Date[edit]

The release date on the page is incorrect. The source just shows the number of the month, it isn't the actual date. For example, Pokemon X and Y are release on October 12th but it shows 10 on that page because it's the 10th month, like November is the 11th. I don't think I can change it though. The dates for games which have them are shown in the smaller boxes above. r0ck (talk)

Gamestop says release date Mario Party 3DS[edit]

Box art revealed, characters revealed, release date revealed.[edit]

Confirms a bunch of characters we haven't seen yet, including Yoshi, Waluigi, Boo, Flutter, Shy Guy, Kamek (could also be a generic Magikoopa), and Bowser Jr.

And according to this flyer, it's coming out on November 22nd in America.

New Characters Playable or Non-Playable?[edit]

Are the new confirmed characters really Non-Playable? Or are they playable? Because Bowser Jr. is holding a shell like in a minigame.And Boo is holding a mushroom like an item. Should we add an "Unknown" section under characters? cause it doesn't confirm they're NonPlayable.


Well if they're not playable, then why are they on the box art that wouldn't make sense and I agree, Bowser Jr. is on the game board and Waluigi is holding cards hinting he's playable plus Kamek/Magikoopa is beside him. Rosalina is on the gameboard of the box art though of course she was seen on the side of the space themed rocket jet race but still she's on the game board. Yoshi is running with Wario on the gameboard in the boxart hinting playability. Nintendoplayerawesome (talk)

Would it be easier to just name the section 'Characters' and get rid of play-ability status until release date? Because at the moment we don't know that Yoshi is playable, or that Boo is non-playable so them being in those sections is speculation. Yoshi876 (talk)
I'd just rename the section "Other characters" so we don't muddle "playable" and "nonplayable" characters.

Hey, I found a site that shows Koopa Troopa being playable along Princess Daisy, Mario and Toad. http://andriasang.com/con0y3/media_create_sales/ That's the proof I found.

Toward the end of the trailer ([1]), the Japanese names for two of the boards (the mountain one and the space one) are shown. If anyone could give a translation of those that would be wonderful.

Shy Guy's Shuffle City[edit]

Are those cards that Luigi is holding on the box cover got anything to do with this board? Could the different colours shuffle that colour area of the board when played? Mariofan24 (talk)

It has been stated from several articles iv read that the cards are specific for this board and require some sort of strategy i have yet to work out. So yes they do and its unknown what they do. - Cubeguy2ver.pngCubeguy(talk) BOO!! ^w^

Perilous Palace Path items[edit]

There are conflicting reports that the items should not redirect to their inspiration items, though I think they should. For example, what good would come from creating a Setback Shell page? It would be a stub, with not much more information than what game it's from, the board it's used on, and its effect. Rather, I think it makes more sense to link it to the Green Shell page with an Island Tour section, where they mention the same info while also mentioning its name on this stage. As I said earlier, look at the other gameboards, and they will contain the information that should be put in, it just needs to be changed to better suit the article. Take Goomba's Booty Boardwalk for example, it contains what game it appears in, what kind of setting the board takes place in, the layout of the board, how to get stars or complete the objective on the board and what certain spaces like ? In minute 8:34 of the Japanese Nintendo Direct conference on December 18, 2013, you can see the Japanese logo of Mario Party: Island Tour. I say that because I do not have privileges to upload the image, and I think it would be useful for the gallery, as the game is about to leave on 20 March. The Japanese box art is that:

Trivia: Rosalina[edit]

To anyone with a capture card and this game: Please take two screenshots for this page in the Boards section. PAL minigame names[edit]

Although not strictly a Mario game, 'Perilous Palace Path' board strikingly resembles 'Board Game Island's gameplay from Wii Party including: the linear board layout, roadblock that require dice rolls to progress/finish as well as the rewarded dice & order of play handed out after minigame play.

Boards column display[edit]

There have been many edits regarding the layout of the boards columns. Personally, I liked it when it matched the game's layout. Not only does it match the game, but it's also tighter and has a better feel to it. Also, the information in the boxes are not too squished so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I understand the rationale for keeping it in two columns, though personally I don't like that as much as if it matches the game's layout. A big bother I think is also that Bowser's Peculiar Peak takes up the most space; I think that if it were to be like this, the honour would go to Perilous Palace Path, as it also has a bigger box in the game. Board Chart[edit]

use original layout 6-0
The chart keeps changing between having Bowser's Peculiar Peak (BPP) stretching across 3 (6 technically) columns and having Perilous Palace Path (PPP) taking up 2 (4) columns at the top. When I made this chart, I intentionally put PPP across the top to match the menu settings, as all the other boards also corresponded with where they were on the menu. That style looked better and more professional, since it matched the menu and no one board was taking up too much space. Now, BPP is taking up too much space by stretching across the entire bottom, with most of it being an empty background. In the new layout, the third column is also larger than the other two and the split in BPP is not in the middle, looking unpolished.

Card Spaces absent[edit]

I am currently a new user, but I noticed that in the article it lists "Card Space" as one of the spaces. I have not seen any Card Spaces in the game, and I have played every board (including Shy Guy's Shuffle City) multiple times. And I cannot fix this because the page is protected. Reorganize the board table in Mario Party: Island Tour[edit]

The board layout as is, currently enforced by the previous talk page proposal earlier in the page is something I'm not a fan of. The presentation of the table is dependent on the resolution of your monitor: while this is the case for all tables, in this case, the table assumes that you're using a wide-screen device to see all information within it. On mobile and shorter screens, there is no side-scrolling, thus the table cuts itself off, rendering the right parts of the table inaccessible to those viewers and thus, losing information.

When formatting information, you need to make a compromise between nice-looking tables for one device and usability on the other, and I think this table straddles on the usability. Hence why I think the table should be reorganized into a way that information is not lost to views who use shorter or smaller devices.

I propose to reformat the table that's traditional to pretty much how every other Mario Party articles have done it for consistency's sake (and mostly because they work, rather than this article's board listing layout). Take for example, Mario Party 2 and its list of boards. While it's not ideal, it uses a similar "rating" system that's organized in a way that's more friendly to mobile and smaller screen viewers. You can take a look at practically every other Mario Party article to see how they handle organizing boards. I'm not sure about keeping the colors in or removing them altogether, so I don't mind either way, and it's not really the goal of this proposal: it's up to the editors to leave them in or not.

This is a sample to what my new proposed table will look like. If there are any comments or suggestions to be made to my proposed table, I'd love to hear them.

  2. Yoshi the SSM (talk) After doing some figuring, the proposed layout is actually worst than what is currently placed. Not horizontally, but vertically. For a little bit of horizontal freedom (being used on tablets and other short width screens), this proposed thing would not work. We'll talking about two Mushrooms of scrolling sideways with just a little vertical scrolling vs. no horizontal scroll, but twice the size (and it's looking better for mobile screens than for computers, which is over twice). For a small difference on a mobile horizontal scroll, having a larger scroll doesn't seem like a better option. This is my reason for opposing: it is better right now for both than it what is proposed. it isn't broken and doesn't need a fix. Note: I wished I did the figuring before my proposed solution. My solution is better for the computer, while Baby Luigi's solution is better for mobile.

Just because it's used in the game doesn't necessarily mean it'll translate well into wiki format. We don't have to emulate to a T to how the game presents it, and if the format the game does grinds on user accessibility on the wiki, then it's better to use a standard that actually works for Wiki viewing. I'm still in favor of keeping it consistent to the rest of the Mario Party articles, which don't follow how the games organize them either, and they shouldn't. Additionally, I'd like to mention that the Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash originally did organize characters in how they were presented in game, but the 3x5 grid was simply awful for presentation and is switched to this gallery format that looks much better.
Keep in mind that most of the time, I'm not opposed to organizing things to how the games organize them. But we've got to make exceptions in this case, and I think Mario Party: Island tour's board section should be the exception, believing that I think it's better for it and viewers to have it consistent with every other Mario Party article on the wiki. @Yoshi the SSM: I don't even understand your argument. The layout I'm proposing is currently a standard that we use across multiple articles in this wiki because it actually works, that's why it's even a standard in the first place. Practically all Mario Party articles EXCEPT this one uses a layout similar to the one I'm proposing. If this vertical scrolling is a problem for here, then it might as well be the central problem for the entire wiki (Mario Party: Island Tour's information on the amount of boards isn't even extensive enough to cause vertical scrolling problems, there's only what 8 boards?). What you also don't seem to understand that, while computers may have a better time handling a wider screen and reduce the amount of vertical scrolling required to find the section you want, the wide screen as it is renders narrower screens, aka smaller monitors and cell-phones unusable. The information literally gets cut off for view in mobile, meaning that a good portion of readers cannot access the information at all. For desktop users, a longer vertical scrolling in the mobile user's advantage is only a minor inconvenience at worst. We're not going to have the perfect solution, but I feel my compromise is the one that works best for both users concerned. Not to mention, good web designers try to avoid as much horizontal scrolling as possible when designing websites, because horizontal scrolling barely, if ever works at all when it comes to displaying text-based information, because information gets ridiculously hard to read when it's horizontal scrolling. I used a tablet with a short horizontal width and I didn't find it inconvenient to do that small horizontal scroll. And the others works because usually, there is no better option. This is because they work best as templates than tables or galleries. Each having their own best traits. I give it to you that vertical scrolling isn't going to play a factor (due to the page being long). But either way, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. And I don't think that it is broken the way it is.

As per the previous discussion, I support a layout of two four-by-four, but the last one is a dummy cell. Current layout is indeed very bad and I'm not fond at all of the inconsistent width that gives undue prominence to the Perilous Palace Path cell. Proposed layout is not great in my opinion; too much empty space; might be a better idea to stack the ratings underneath the description. I'm also iffy on the article as a whole with its egregious use of confusing table layouts. The article is a work in progress, but by the time we reach the characters section, things look ugly. There is one more thing I should mention before this passes. Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain and Star-Crossed Skyway are before Rocket Road. One reason I say that because I would like Kamek's Carpet Ride and Shy Guy's Shuffle City to be close together. Another is that Rocket Road is on a separate page than Perilous Palace Path in the game (The current table isn't wrong due to the second page being right of the first). The order of the boards is rather debatable, especially when it comes to Shy Guy's Shuffle City and Kamek's Carpet Ride. This is what I think the order is:
  1. Perilous Palace Path
  2. Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain
  3. Star-Crossed Skyway
  4. Rocket Road
  5. Shy Guy's Shuffle City
  6. Kamek's Carpet Ride
  7. Bowser's Peculiar Peak

Music Track for Slow G[edit]

It said that the music track for the minigame "Slow G" is called "Fluff", but there is no YouTube video showing that track. I can only find the track called "Fluff" from Mario Party 9.
