I think this page should be moved to "Dino Dino Jungle" (the name in Mario Kart World (Nintendo Music)). That name doesn't require the "GCN" prefix and makes sense in the context of the original Mario Kart: Double Dash!! game. All instances of this track that are named are all arrangements of the original track, so none of them take any priority.

Hewer (talk) Shouldn't really need a proposal, this is consistent with what we've been doing with other themes in the same situation like "Bowser Castle" instead of "GBA Bowser Castle 1" or "Peach Circuit" instead of "GBA Mario Circuit". As far as policy is concerned, the two names here have equal priority (both being names of arrangements) so we can pick whichever we want, and precedent has favoured picking the Mario Kart World names (probably because they're more suited to the original context of the themes). I'm surprised this hasn't been moved already, I'd guess the only reason it hasn't is probably due to it not being part of the "jukebox" and thus getting overlooked when the other tracks were moved.

Arend (talk) To be honest, since most of the race course theme articles we have are simply named after the first race course the theme appears, I do think it makes more sense to keep the DK Mountain name, even if the only official title we have like that still bears the GCN prefix from 8 Deluxe. Ideally, we would name the article after the original track's title, but Double Dash hasn't been released for Nintendo Music yet. By these rules, however, I think "GCN Dino Dino Jungle" from Mario Kart 7 makes more sense to prioritize over 8 Deluxe's OR World's, simply because that's literally the closest-sounding to the original (in fact, I'm not sure if it's even arranged at all).

3. Rob Rob Bank (theme) Under the current guidelines, and how Free Roam remixes are named in Mario Kart World, it really seems like the first track this theme plays in has its name prioritized. Take "Figure-8 Circuit", which is named that way instead of "Mario Circuit" despite sharing the same name. And if names from Mario Kart World take priority, then "Luigi Raceway" should be "Wario Stadium" because Wario Stadium appears in World but not Luigi Raceway. Those tracks were just named like this to fit in with the course they play on, but for other remixes of tracks that play in multiple courses, they always show the name of the first course that plays the track, as far as I can tell. And if we want to take using course names from World even further, then "Koopa Beach" should be named "Koopa Troopa Beach" after the track got renamed from Koopa Beach 2, but seeing how that music track was named after the course, it proves my point about World course remixes only being named after the World track they play on, not to mention that the track is still called "Koopa Beach" in both the mission original and Free Roam arrangement. I would support removing the GCN from the beginning, however.
4. GCN Yoshi18 (talk) If we move this article to "Dino Dino Jungle" (theme MKWorld NM name), it would be inaccurate to articles like "Wii Maple Treeway" (which also had a proposal to move the MK7 name to the MKWorld NM one, but failed). Per Rob Rob Bank, I would support removing the course prefix from articles like this, though.
5. PhDedede (talk) Even if we do change it to "Dino Dino Jungle" we're just gonna change it right back to "DK Mountain" once Double Dash!! inevitably gets added to the app; this is just kicking a can down the road.
6. Iand255 (talk) Per everyone else before me. I would personally like to make note of the fact that the theme quotes from Round 1 BGM from Donkey Kong Jr., which to me more than solidifies the fact that this song is, and always has been, for DK Mountain specifically, regardless of its reuse in Dino Dino Jungle. To move the page to "Dino Dino Jungle" and make that its main title just because it's the cleanest official name currently available feels disingenuous to me. I, much like Rob and Yoshi, would love to see the GCN from the name go away though. I personally am of the opinion that it's silly how pages like this one use the retro course prefix in their titles. I understand why it's that way, they are part of the official title currently available to us after all, but I also feel like we all can agree that the official name of the original song doesn't include the prefix, and never would or will in an official release of the original game's soundtrack.
7. Wilben (talk) Per PhDedede. This article is just gonna be moved to DK Mountain (theme) anyway whenever Double Dash inevitably gets added to Nintendo Music. We might as well just wait until then.

It's literally like I said in my oppose comment: the one from Mario Kart 7 sounds the closest to the original version from Double Dash. According to MarioWiki:Article naming#Musical theme titles, the English title of the original theme should always take priority. The version from Mario Kart 7 is NOT an arrangement, like the version from World (or the one from 8 Deluxe, for that matter), but instead a remaster of the original theme from Double Dash; it attempts to sound the same as the original, whereas the arrangements do not, therefor it makes sense to prioritize the 7 version. Heck, if Mario Kart Wii were to be on Nintendo Music as well, I'd even go all-in to keep the "GCN DK Mountain" title until we get Double Dash on Nintendo Music, since I'm pretty sure that straight up is the same track as in the GameCube title. rend (talk) (edits) 16:22, July 18, 2026 (UTC)

I don't think a distinction is made in policy between "remasters" and "arrangements" for the purpose of naming. If it sounds different then it doesn't count as the original. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 16:54, July 18, 2026 (UTC)

@Yoshi18 Regarding the "Wii Maple Treeway" one, that one is because the Mario Kart 7 version is just the original theme, not an arrangement. In this case, all the versions that are named are arrangements, and none of them are the original theme. (For reference, the only ones that are named for this one are the Mario Kart 7 version ("GCN Dino Dino Jungle"), the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version ("GCN DK Mountain"), and the Mario Kart World version ("Dino Dino Jungle"). @I... am R.O.B.: I don't really understand what point you were trying to make in your vote, but both of the examples you mentioned aren't comparable to this because Luigi Raceway and Koopa Beach already have official names for the original versions of the tracks, which take priority automatically. Dino Dino Jungle doesn't yet have an official name for the original version, so an arrangement name must be used instead, such as the name from Mario Kart World. We can't just call it "DK Mountain" without the prefix because that name has never been officially used. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 17:10, July 19, 2026 (UTC)

@PhDedede @Wilben: We have no idea how long it'll take for them to add Double Dash to Nintendo Music, we've already gone a year and a half since the app launched and currently have only 5 out of 10 mainline Mario Kart soundtracks. For all we know could be waiting another year or two for Double Dash. What would be the harm in moving this page to better match policy in the meantime, rather than waiting indefinitely for a future event that we presume will come eventually? It's not like moving the page now will make it any harder to move it again if and when the time comes. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 17:16, July 21, 2026 (UTC)
