Penguin Mario (Penguin Suit Mario in the original Prima Games guide)[1] is a power-up that debuted in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. In general, the power-up lets the player move faster by sliding on their belly (like with the Blue Shell), shoot Ice Balls (like with the Ice Flower), have better swimming control (like with the Frog Suit), and move on the surface of water (like with the Mini Mushroom).

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
Mario becomes Penguin Mario after gathering a Penguin Suit. After Mario has become this form, he can throw Ice Balls at enemies and freeze them. Mario can then use the frozen enemies as platforms or pick them up and throw them against the wall or other enemies. He also gains a good traction on ice, stopping him from slipping like normal Mario. While in this form, Mario can indefinitely slide on ice and snow with great speed, defeating some enemies and destroying Brick Blocks, allowing him to find secret areas. If he gets a running start, Mario can also slide a short distance on ground and a considerable distance on the surface of water, and can jump up from the water in order to obtain certain Star Coins or blocks. Also, while in this form, Mario can be controlled underwater using only the direction pad, like Frog Mario in Super Mario Bros. 3.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
Penguin Mario also appears in New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, functioning the same as in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, though the Penguin Suit can only be obtained in the Toad Houses in Superstar Road (and in Enemy Courses in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe). Otherwise, it acts much the same as before. The suit is also used in a few Challenge Mode levels. In New Super Luigi U, however, the suit can be obtained within certain levels in the game.
Penguin Toadette appears in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. She has a black suit with magenta spots, resembling the Poison Mushroom design from Luigi's Mansion.
Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
In Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2, knocking on a door in the New Super Mario Bros. U style will occasionally cause Weird Mario wearing a Penguin Suit to peek out.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]
Penguin Mario appears in the form of a randomly obtainable trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition[edit]
Penguin Mario also makes an appearance in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition with Water and Fire elements. He has above average HP and RCV rating with average attack. Penguin Mario's skill, Dive, changes Light Orbs into Water Orbs while his helper, leader, or awoken skill is Ice Dance, which doubles any Water team member's RCV rating.
Mario Sports Superstars[edit]
Penguin Toads appear as selectable teammates in Mario Sports Superstars, with both yellow and blue varieties. They are classified as speed characters. Both colors are available in baseball, while only Blue Penguin Toads can be chosen in soccer.
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
Penguin Mario appears in Mario Kart Tour, where he was introduced in the Frost Tour. Alongside Penguin Mario, Penguin Luigi, Penguin Toad, and Penguin Toadette also appear, introduced in the Ice Tour, Snow Tour, and Penguin Tour, respectively. Penguin Mario, Penguin Luigi, and Penguin Toadette's special skill is the Ice Flower, while Penguin Toad's is the Dash Ring. Starting from the Bowser vs. DK Tour, Penguin Luigi is available in regular tour pipes, including the All-Clear Pipe. Like Ice Mario, when Penguin Mario appears in a course icon, his artwork is reversed.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie[edit]
Penguin Toad makes an appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, where Toad uses the form to help Peach defeat a big horde of Ninjis. The suit uses a similar shade of blue to that of Mario and Blue Toad, and has red spots.[2]
