(First topic)[edit]
Could someone add a picture of the watermelon in Super Mario Galaxy? MisterJaffffey G0 Watermelon
- In time, the picture will be added. It could be today, tommorow, a week from now, or even a few months. uper-Yoshi
Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]
Would the watermelon from YWW be considered just a watermelon or a Super Green Watermelon?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Monkehz (talk).
- I just found out that they are Super Green Watermelons. They are also Watermelons.

Merge Watermelon (Yoshi's Island series) to Watermelon[edit]

merge 8-0
An earlier comment by Somethingone has pointed out that there is little difference between the Yoshi's Island variant of the watermelon and the one that generally covers the appearances and I agree with that statement. The distinction between a "green watermelon" and just a regular watermelon has been blurred since it was renamed from green watermelon to just watermelon in later entries. Differences between the ones in Yoshi's Island practically just chalk up to some gameplay differences depending on the context of the game but so do every other item that are different across different genres of games. In addition, every other Super variant of the other watermelon's cousins (the Special Red Watermelon for example) are already merged with their article cleanly, so I also think this merge into the general watermelon article wouldn't be any less clean.

Support[edit]
- Ray Trace (talk)
- Waluigi Time (talk) Per proposal.
- Hewer (talk) Per proposal (not sure why these were split to begin with).
- Paper Jorge (talk) Totally agree with Hewer, not sure why a split was ever deemed necessary
- Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - This was a separate article...?
- Somethingone (talk) Another month, another article-nobody-knew-existed-and-has-no-reason-to-exist. Per my comment on the other Watermelon page; this is not even a color variant, it's a level below that.
- TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
- Archivist Toadette (talk) Let's spitball our way to merging the "separate" article. Or in this case, spit seeds at it.

Split Super Green Watermelon, Super Red Watermelon and Super Blue Watermelon[edit]

Split 4-0
I think this will be my shortest proposal so far.
- Different names in Japanese and every other language.
- One is a common item, while the other is a special item.
- We have items like Anywhere POW, split from Pow.
The only question here is why this is still merged!

Split[edit]
- Sorbetti (talk) Per sense and my comments below.
- PrincessPeachFan (talk): Pretty obvious just from the description.
- Rykitu (talk) Accidentally stumbled across this proposal while making summaries for the DK64 commercial on List of advertisements. I agree, per all.
- Jdtendo (talk) For consistency with the way the other Special Items are split.
Do nothing[edit]
Comments[edit]
I feel like this is going to collide directly with Portable DK Barrel, another page that is about an inventory item. If you clicked on the link and noticed it was a redirect, that's because it got merged to DK Barrel on the basis of just being a DK Barrel you buy in a shop. It also had mechanics distinguishable from a standard DK Barrel, like a Super Green Watermelon. The only thing it lacked were name sources from other languages and a distinct name presented within the video game, and I feel like if I could read Japanese I could find the former. Given this, I wonder if people would be okay with splitting this basically entirely on "has a distinct name in the video game".
Also I think conceptually the Special Items are supposed to be items, not powers. It's just that by their nature they appear exclusively in menus rather than on the playfield. Salmancer (talk) 22:50, June 6, 2025 (EDT)
- We've split Anywhere POW, we've also split the 10-Point Star and 20-Point Star, and the Anytime Egg. These are basically special items that fulfill the function of the item with the difference that "they can be used whenever you want," unlike normal items that are tied to a single area. If this proposal fails, it would make our handling of Special Items inconsistent, which would sooner or later lead to a proposal to merge them. Arggggh, you made me make this proposal longer than I wanted.
