Recreate redirect?[edit]
Are we sure this should be deleted? I'm sure the people who used this page prior to its deletion would be okay with being redirected to Star (Paper Mario), as that made up the bulk of the Star (species) page. (Again, Star Sprite was kind of a throw in.) Salmancer (talk) 16:17, September 26, 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, from what I can see, the most prominent section of the page prior to the rewrite was the "Notable Stars" section. (An incomplete list, and another instance of the page directly contradicting our Good writing policy.)
- Regardless of that, the issue with reviving this page as a redirect, in my opinion, is that "Star (species)" is a broad, vague enough term that it could encompass any vaguely sentient star in the franchise... which is precisely how the page ended up in that miserable state to begin with. I don't think that making it a redirect to the "PM64 Stars NPCs" is necessary, especially given that small handful of pages which still erroneously link to it. - Well, (species) and (enemy) tend to be mutually exclusive in Super Mario Wiki parlance, so "Star (species) definitely doesn't mean Star (enemy) (yes, the prior version of the page wasn't following this). The article itself admitted Geno may or may not be whatever a Star is, so we can safely conclude "Star (species)" never meant Geno. So that leaves Dark Star, Star Spirits, Twink, Lumas, Millennium Star, and Ztar. Of which, Paper Mario Stars still make up the majority of the subject matter, and 90% of people looking for Lumas will look up "Luma". I think assuming a search for "Star (species)" means "Star (Paper Mario)" and relying on the hatnote otherwise is fair. Salmancer (talk) 18:15, September 26, 2026 (UTC)
