"Balloon Bomb"Edit

This seems to refer solely to the bomb-dropping versions, which pop themselves if I'm not mistaken, while the box and item-dropping ones need popped manually with eggs. So the non-enemy version wouldn't be a balloon bomb. Also, it's uncapitalized, and seems to describe the bomb more than the balloon. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:10, 23 December 2017 (EST)

Baron von Zeppelin's original description also specifically refers to it as the enemy bomb version, so we're probably looking more at a split than a rename. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:32, 23 December 2017 (EST)
Still, proper noun vs. improper nouns are the reason Omodonmeka isn't "Pouncing pincer," to name an example. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:47, 23 December 2017 (EST)
I'd say, we'd leave as-is. There are a few possibilities on that translation mistake. 1) They forgot the name "Baron von Zeppelin" and knew what it was referring to 2) They simply decided to change it 3) They didn't recognize it very well. --  FanOfYoshi   at 13:55, 12 February 2019 (EST)
The Yoshi's Island DS Player's Guide refers "malevolent Item Balloons" on page 98 (near the end of World 4-6). LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:31, March 19, 2019 (EDT)

Split Baron von Zeppelin from Item BalloonEdit

This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal.

split 4-0
At first, this proposal didn't make much sense, but then, remembering Sanbo Flower, I thought, "Why not?"

1. Baron von Zeppelin and Sanbo Flower have Japanese names that differentiate them from their normal counterparts, even Baron von Zeppelin has many more, and he has a proper English name.

2. Baron von Zeppelin and Sanbo Flower appear in the Yoshi Island DS museum. As you can see, only the balloons with Needlenoses and Bombs appear, demonstrating that they are not considered the same as Item Balloons, which carry beneficial items.

3. One point to keep in mind is that their Japanese names focus on how the balloon carries bombs or Pokeys, a name that remains the same until Yoshi New Island. However, in Yoshi's Woolly World and Crafted World, the balloons do not carry bombs or Pokeys; instead, they carry Shy Guys, a very different behavior from their name, also unlike Baron von Zeppelin, they do not have proper names, so they would not be included on this page.

I'm aware that both the Pokey and bomb versions have different names in Japanese and that Baron von Zeppelin's name is used for the explosive variant. However, I don't find the two different enough to warrant separate pages; therefore, I'll leave the option available.

I honestly have nothing more to add. The page is currently a bit confusing, treating two things as one, which turns the page into an ally and an enemy. This situation is completely the same as that of Sanbo Flower, which we have divided from Egg Plant, so at least for me, the split is clear.

If you want more reasons why they should split up, the discussion above can also provide them.

Split and keep both versions as Baron von ZeppelinEdit

  1. Sorbetti (talk) Per proposal.
  2. PrincessPeachFan (talk): Yeah.
  3. Baron von Yoshi (talk) per
  4. Camwoodstock (talk) Makes sense to us. An enemy isn't much of an Item, is it? Per proposal.

Split and have a page for Baron von Zeppelin and a page for Enemī Fūsen/SanboEdit

Do nothingEdit

Comments (balloom?)Edit

I'm thinking that this page looks the way it does is because the Baron Von Boom Booms (made that name up) have the same general design despite the different Japanese names. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:54, May 16, 2025 (EDT)

RE: Yoshi's Island DS museum, I'm not sure if throwing an egg at the helpful item balloon also causes them to be unlocked in the museum.  Xiahou Ba(the Nasty Warrior) 09:16, May 17, 2025 (EDT)

Question: What, praytell, IS the Japanese name for the helpful balloons, then? The wiki displays the Japanese names for the ones carrying the rocket bombs and the Pokeys for both Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS fine, as well as the Japanese name for the bomb-carrying one in Yoshi's New Island, but not for the ones carrying keys, 1-Ups, or crates. There's exactly one Japanese name that's applicable for the helpful balloon, but it's specifically for the ones carrying a coin, and specifically only used for Yoshi Topsy-Turvy... frankly, probably the ONLY game (as far as I can tell) in which these balloons actually carry coins at all.  rend (talk) (edits) 09:29, May 17, 2025 (EDT)

They carry coins in Yoshi's New Island.  Xiahou Ba(the Nasty Warrior) 09:32, May 17, 2025 (EDT)
Hmm, I see. Still, I do wonder about the Japanese names for the ones carrying the other items, and if the Japanese name for the coin-carrying one is spelled differently in Yoshi's New Island to be consistent with the bomb-carrying one from that game.  rend (talk) (edits) 09:37, May 17, 2025 (EDT)
