A Propeller Block is a type of block that appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is navy-colored and has a yellow propeller.

History[edit]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the Propeller Block has the same function as a Propeller Mushroom, with the exception that players can maintain the ability to use the Propeller Jump even after being hit as long as they are holding the block, and that they cannot take it into pipes. To use it, the player must pick it up (shaking the Wii Remote and pressing One Button) and hold it (by holding down One Button). Then, the user must shake the Wii Remote anytime in order to fly. This block is found at least once in each world (except for World 1), usually in stages where fog is found and in places where there are hidden coins or platforms floating or in places beyond the reach of the player(s). Propeller Blocks are also used in the first battle with Bowser Jr.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games[edit]

Propeller Blocks also appear in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. In the Golf and Golf Plus events, if the player hits the ball into water or if it goes out of bounds, it transforms into a Propeller Block to return to its previous location.

Profiles[edit]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]

  • Trading card description: Grab these little blue boxes wherever you see them. The Propeller Block power-up will give you the ability to float up in the air for a while and avoid enemy trouble below. It's also handy for collecting items in the sky. Keep a sharp lookout for Propeller Blocks in foggy areas.
