Hippopos are enemies in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that look like big blue hippopotamuses with large elephant ears and a small blue warrior mounted on them. Mario meets these creatures on his venture in Smithy's Factory. Hippopos are usually accompanied in battle by Boos or Ninjas. They can also fly, making them masters of aerial attacks. Hippopos are also good at using various magic attacks, such as Drain Beam, Solidify or Sand Storm.

- Among the unused sprites of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, there is an enemy named Crippo, which is a Hippopo lookalike. It has twice as much health as Hippopo. The only noticeable difference is Crippo's brown and green color and the moves Thornet which could lead the monster to attack itself and Doom Reverb. The unused enemy has no psychopath.
