So, do you want to write for The 'Shroom? Well, you've come to the right place! Here are some steps that you should follow if you want to start writing for the paper.

  • Contact either the Sub-Director (Tucayo) so they can decide whether you are fit to write for The 'Shroom or not.
    • If you plan on writing for a Sub-team (Fake News, Fun Stuff, Music & Artwork, or Pipe Plaza); please contact the Director (or one of the Co-directors, in some cases) of the sub-team you wish to work for as opposed to the Director or Sub-director of The 'Shroom.
  • Whether you want to write a main section or a section for a sub-team, most Core Staff members require you have an "interview" with the Director of each team. In a nutshell, you pretty much fill out a questionnaire that the Core Staff member requires you to.
    • The interviews should not be confusing: they are relatively straightforward. Most of these interviews will require you to answer a few questions about yourself as a user (if you have been blocked, if you have ever written for The 'Shroom, etc.), as well as to see if you're the person the staff of The 'Shroom is looking for. The Core Staff doesn't want articles like "Hi I'm so-and-so okay bye," or "high eye am a usre off teh supre mario wikki!!!!" We want sections with acceptable length and quality.
  • No articles that cover fake content (what we mean by this is content that a user makes up) will be accepted (there is an obvious exception: the articles of the Fake News section will obviously contain fan-made or other non-official material).
  • If you are not certain on what to write for The 'Shroom, simply contact the Director or Sub-director: they will have a discussion with the rest of the leading staff of the paper to find out which section they feel would suit you best.
  • Although being late once or twice is acceptable, we expect that when you sign up for The 'Shroom, you will submit your section every month.
    • If you, for whatever reason, need to stray from the standard monthly release schedule (such as going on vacation, handling an emergency off of the wiki, or going on a bi-monthly writing plan); be sure to contact the Core 'Shroom Staff member that you submit your sections to: we'd be happy to try and work something out.
  • Formerly, users were allowed to edit the archived articles of past 'Shroom issues. This is not accepted anymore, as each page is protected so that vandalism attacks stay as far away from The 'Shroom as possible. If you notice an error on one of the archived sections, feel free to contact one of The 'Shroom staff members or a Sysop to try and fix the error you have spotted.
  • For those of you who wish to write multiple articles for The 'Shroom: please be aware that we have a limit on the amount of sections you can take. You can take a maximum of 2 sections on each part of The 'Shroom.
    • To further explain this, you may write 2 main 'Shroom sections and 2 sections for each sub-team.
  • If you have any more questions about signing up and writing for The 'Shroom, please contact the Director of The 'Shroom.
