I think that even though Chuckya is the most "recent" name, Chuckya more than likely came from us in the first place. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:55, February 23, 2024 (EST)

:Taking the Mario Portal as being a case of citogenesis would be, uh, to put it lightly, a very huge stance to hold. Especially seeing as they call Banzai Bill "Bomber Bill" on there, which is a name that very much did not come from us. 10:15, February 23, 2024 (EST)

::Uh, no? The name comes from the original Super Mario 64 Player's Guide, not us. I'm already strongly opposed to the idea that Nintendo making official usage of a fan name is bad. Let's not go down the rabbit hole of assuming that Nintendo reusing their own names can come from us. -- 11:22, February 23, 2024 (EST)

Mario Chucker?

I had a really really old guide for Mario 64, and in the enemies section the Chuckya was called the Mario Chucker. I was wondering if this could be included in the article.

Thanks, Quate 21:46, 16 August 2007 (EDT)

It probably could be (and "Mario Chucker" could certainly redirected to this article), but what company made this guide? Guides made by companies aside from Nintendo itself are not considered official. YELLOWYOSHI398
Brady games, I believe. It's title was the 'Unofficial Super Mario 64 GuideBook' with big yellow mario eyes on it. I suppose you're right, it is unofficial. Quate 21:51, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
OK. No offense, but that sounds a little too unofficial to be mentioned in the article to me, but you can still redirect Mario Chucker to here. YELLOWYOSHI398

This guy is in the Super Mario 64 and DS template as a boss. He's definitely not. Is he? I think we should put him in another section of this template. ---SuperGoom to the Rescue!

WUT DU--!!!!

HEY!!!1 O'Chunks's throw attack IS simalar to Chuckya's! PUT IT BACK!!!!!!!KoopaMan (talk) Gumball of the Stars (talk)

No they were not based of each other and unless you can find a source that says they were it will not go in there Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
But listen: O'Chunks throws Mario aroun sometimes in the same way Mario swung Bowser in 64. SO DOES CHUCKYA!!!!!!!KoopaMan (talk) Gumball of the Stars (talk)
Wait, what? aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 09:21, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
The only reason they are similar is because they are throw attacks. Even though it is, to an extent, true, it is not notable enough to put in the article. ThirdMarioBro: Mario, Luigi, and me! 09:27, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
U said it TMB! The only difference is: In the case of O'Chunks, the player will bounce around as if it were a game of Pong. KoopaMan (talk) Gumball of the Stars (talk)

Bob-omb

Since when is Chuckya a Bob-omb? Shadow2 (talk) 05:56, 27 March 2017 (EDT)

Chuckya's Japanese name is "Horuhei", which is a portmanteau of "hōru" (throw) and "Bomuhei" (Bob-omb). It's appearance, attack, and method of defeat are also similar to King Bob-omb's. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:03, 27 March 2017 (EDT)

New Name

I put a move template on this page because Chuck-Ya is the new name, after all. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 11:27, September 24, 2023 (EDT)

Are you sure about the move? Mario Portal uses the original "Chuckya". Is "Chuck-Ya" used outside that "Nintendo DS Pocket Guide"? Blinker (talk) 14:37, December 26, 2023 (EST)
No, but it was the new name, and I'm pretty certain that "Chuckya" is directly taken from Nintendo's strategy guide. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:54, December 27, 2023 (EST)
FYI, the Player's Guide is a higher-priority source, and in addition to being the more common version, it should be the title. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:23, December 27, 2023 (EST)
The DS Pocket Guide was a Prima guide released in 2010 and therefore would be the same level of officiality as the Player's Guide. But I still agree "Chuckya" should be the name especially with it being used in the Mario Portal. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:48, December 27, 2023 (EST)
Come to think of it, that also makes it kind of weird that to use the DS Pocket Guide as an "at the time" source, considering it came out years after Super Mario 64 DS. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:39, December 31, 2023 (EST)

Move back to Chuck-Ya

I accidentally moved the page "Chuckya" to "Chuck-Ya" without making a proposal before moving. Sorry about that. Anyways, the DS Pocket Guide for Super Mario 64 DS came out after the game itself, which came out after Super Mario 64 DS. As such, Chuckyas have been renamed Chuck-Yas, so I was wondering if there's a possibility to move the page "Chuckya" back to "Chuck-Ya".

Support

 1. GuntherBB (talk) Per proposal
 2. PrincessPeachFan (talk) I was the one who posted the move template in the first place.

Oppose

 1. Camwoodstock (talk) Chuckya without a hyphen is the name used on the Mario Portal, which is even more recent. Pretty self-explanatory why we'd oppose... ;P
 2. Hewer (talk) Per Camwood, this isn't the most recent name.
 3. Biggestman (talk) Per all.
 4. Waluigi Time (talk) Per all.

Taking the Mario Portal as being a case of citogenesis would be, uh, to put it lightly, a very huge stance to hold. Especially seeing as they call Banzai Bill "Bomber Bill" on there, which is a name that very much did not come from us. ~Camwoodstock (talk) 10:15, February 23, 2024 (EST)
