Funky's Fishing is a mini-game operated by Funky Kong that appears in the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance remakes of Donkey Kong Country, and takes the place of where Funky's Flights was in the Super Nintendo version of the game. While Funky's Fishing was completely optional in the Game Boy Color version, clearing it is mandatory in the Game Boy Advance version in order to collect everything in the game.

Game Boy Advance

By jumping into Funky's Fishing Barrel, Donkey and/or Diddy Kong will be transported to the fishing mini-game itself, where they must complete Funky's objective within the time limit. The objective will change on each world, getting relatively harder the further they progress. If the Kongs reel in something that Funky didn't ask for, they will lose time. If they can complete the challenge on any given world, they will earn a Photograph for their hard work, along with an Extra Life Balloon and some Bananas.

Kongo Jungle - Twenty Red Fish

The Kongs must catch a total of twenty red Bitesizes.

Monkey Mines - Croctopus Crull

The Kongs must catch fifteen Croctopi.

Vine Valley - Chump Chomps

The Kongs must catch ten Chomps Jr..

Gorilla Glacier - Squidgin Time

The Kongs must catch 50 Squidges.

Kremkroc Industries, Inc. - Out with the Trash

The Kongs must collect ten bottles.

Chimp Caverns - Let's Go a Kombo'in

The Kongs must collect combos of the same-colored Bitesizes in order to increase the timer. The timer starts off low, and the objective is to fill it to them max.

Extra

Found in the game's Extra Mode, the Kongs must collect as many combinations as they can, much like in the Chimp Caverns challenge. This challenge has no reward, and can be played at the player's leisure. It also has a two-player option, in which players compete for the highest score.
