Italics
Hello. I understand you used List of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions music as a template for your new page, but as you might have noticed from the page, keep in mind that whenever you name a game title yourself, it should be italicised, with two apostrophes before and after the title (''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey]]''
, which becomes Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey). MarioWiki:Manual of Style provides a step-by-step guide on how to create an article from scratch. Other than that, thanks for your contribution with the new page! Mario JC 19:03, 24 January 2019 (EST)
Images
Hello, Mid188. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hello, regarding your recent upload you forgot to properly categorize your image. How to do that is listed above this comment. Thanks! Doomhiker (talk) 11:25, 10 February 2019 (EST)
Aboutfile
Hello, Mid188. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. {{aboutfile |1=Subject of the image |2=Where you found the image |3=Artist |4=Describe edits, if any |5=Other versions (use file link) }} Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |

"You"
Hello, just wanted to let you know that we do not use the term "you" to refer to the player. The character's name or the phrase "the player" works just fine. TheDarkStar (talk) 20:16, March 22, 2019 (EDT)
Please keep this in mind, as you're still using "you" to refer to the player. This also applies to phrases like "Go to this room." which should be written as "The player should go to this room." Mario JC 00:25, March 25, 2019 (EDT)
Also, "beanhole" is not a proper noun like "Mario", so omitting the articles "a" or "the" doesn't make sense. It should be referred to as "the beanhole" (as in "After entering the room, the beanhole is seen in the northwest corner."). Mario JC 00:35, March 25, 2019 (EDT)
Hello, Mid188! Thanks for your contributions. When writing, avoid using first- and second-person perspective with pronouns like "you". As an encyclopedia site, we write in third-person and not from a specific person's point of view or referring directly to the reader, so the term "the player", or the character's name, should instead be used in the pronouns' place. |
Remember what I said in this section. Mario JC 21:00, February 13, 2023 (EST)
Screenshot resolution
Hello. Thank you for creating and adding images to the List of beanholes in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time page. Can you try to get your images in native DS resolution (256x384)? If you're playing on an emulator, you should be able to do this by taking a screenshot. Scrooge200 (talk) 21:29, March 22, 2019 (EDT)
"Edited"
The parameter "edited" on an aboutfile template is for however you edited the image before you uploaded it, not for edits you made to the aboutfile, category, or licensing post-upload. Thanks! TheDarkStar (talk) 11:37, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
Beahnholes
I'd like to give you my full on thanks and appreciation for making and finishing up the Partners in Time beanhole article promptly and quickly, also with great quality images and accurate locations. Any other projects you plan on undertaking? Ray Trace(T|C) 15:44, March 28, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, no problem. I just started playing all RPGs in order of release and I am completionist, so I want everything there is to do in the game. And I saw that beanholes from PiT don't have page like in SS and BIS. Send also thank to TheDarkStar, Mario JC, Scrooge200, Toadette the Achiever, Alex95 and 7feetunder. They helped too. I plan on doing the same thing to Dream Team (Beanhole and Pii'llos) and Paper Jam (Beanholes/Drill Spots, Item Patches). I plan to, but that doesn't mean I get to do it, maybe I won't have time. You need to press CTRL + F5 on the file page or clear your browser cache to be able to see the new version you uploaded. Mario JC 22:38, August 6, 2019 (EDT)
I just thought I'd discuss this with you now. The hidden block locations in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions are pretty much the same as they are in the original game so I'm not sure that will be necessary, a lot of the beanhole locations are the same too even though they're all visible and I think there are a few different ones. As for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey beanholes, well a lot of them are actually in different locations from the original game and because of the bigger variety of beans, the types uncovered are changed too so that seems like a good one. Thanks regardless for this. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 13:40, September 12, 2019 (EDT)
I believe that just leaves the Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey beanholes. With that one, I should point out that multiple beans can be obtained from one beanhole so I think it would be ideal to include the exact amount from each beanhole, and I don't think it would be necessary to include ones obtained from Kuzzle or the Mushroom ball sidequests since they're not counted in the lists unlike in the original game, but could still mention at the top of the page, along with the fact that some beans are now obtained after the giant battles. Lastly, Toad Town Caves is merged with Toad Town, even though there are only two beanholes in the caves this time. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 15:35, September 26, 2019 (EDT)
RE: Permision to add 2 pages + A question
I have not finished either of the original games or played their remakes, but if a number of beanholes from M&LSS have been relocated, a separate page makes sense. Mario JC 22:20, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
Gauntlet screenshots
Since you're playing this game, would it be possible for you to get screenshots of the Gauntlet boss's artworks that are shown before the battles? I requested those on all of their pages. Thanks in advance. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 15:45, September 30, 2019 (EDT)
That's what I intend to use them for, and giant boss artwork screenshots would be nice too but I know it may be more difficult 'cause they're only shown with their names while the screen is sideways. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 17:15, September 30, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah that is great, and I just put it in Durmite X's page. Thanks a lot Mario Sakuraba (talk) 15:49, October 1, 2019 (EDT)
There definetly were artworks of the giant bosses too, as the screen rotates they're shown. https://youtu.be/QrhgT4PXwXk Mario Sakuraba (talk) 16:09, October 1, 2019 (EDT)
RE:Permission
Alex95's not currently online, so...
I remember the deleted page on Bowser Jr.'s Journey clothing having next to no information to begin with. If you wish to recreate the page, then go right ahead; after all, you have all of the necessary information, unlike the creator of the deleted version.
BTW, if you need some time to add in large chunks of information, then go ahead and use your sandbox to work on it, then add it to the main article once you're done. (T|C) 15:58, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
- Yeah, it was only deleted because it had no information at all. If you think you have everything, then go for it :) 15:59, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
I'm the one who tried to create it before but it was created before I started getting information about clothing, so that's why it was removed. But thanks in advance for doing this. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 16:11, October 16, 2019 (EDT)
Complete Music Pages
I saw and was pleased with the work you did with List of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions music and List of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey music where you list the name of the music and where it plays in-game and I was wondering if you could do pages like that for the other Mario & Luigi games if so that would help me out tremendously! --T.schultz (talk) 12:26, July 21, 2020 (EDT)
RE: Need help with anything?
Nothing is immediately coming to mind, but you can take a look at MarioWiki:Maintenance's categories to see if there's a page you can help with. 12:55, February 27, 2021 (EST)
- If you do get around to getting Origami King, one idea I have for that would be a list of hidden blocks. We have lists for the ones in the first two Paper Mario games, and like in the M&L series since Paper Jam, blocks are recorded in that game. The List of hidden Toads in Paper Mario: The Origami King article also still needs work. Nightwicked Bowser 13:04, February 27, 2021 (EST)
- I don't know about a seperate page listing collectible treasures since most of it would just be repeating the Musée Champignon article. As for stuff in the other games, it's quite hard to think what else is there, since we have lists for pretty much everything in those games now. Nightwicked Bowser 18:48, February 27, 2021 (EST)
RE: Paper Mario: The Origami King - item location pages.
Good plan. You don't need to ask for permission, just go out and do it. 👍 Mario JC 22:29, February 8, 2023 (EST)
- I want to point out that User:Zaku has already been working on a ? Block page: you can see it here. You might want to ask him before you go any further. Scrooge200 (talk) 23:52, February 9, 2023 (EST)
FYI "it's" with an apostrophe is short for "it is", and "its" with none is the possessive form of "it" (so "its owner" is correct, not "it's owner"). Also, avoid adding file links for images that haven't been uploaded yet; they should be uploaded first, then displayed on the page. Mario JC 07:21, February 10, 2023 (EST)
- Hi, good work with the item location pages so far. I wanted to make sure you're aware you can use the same picture for multiple different items. What I mean for example, is a Question Block floating directly above a Not-Bottomless Hole, or a Collectible Treasure that comes from a Question Block. Those entries can share the same image, which should be more efficient and take less resources. It isn't always the best choice if there is alot of information on screen, but it is something you can do. //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 12:19, February 15, 2023 (EST)
- Hey Mid188, first of all you've done a great job helping with the ? Block page and also filling out the other two item location pages for PMTOK. Regarding the Great Sea and the Shangri-Spa Toad Statues, I actually plan to use the map Captain T. Ode gives to Mario to denote where each statue must be found and interacted with, as well as briefly describe where on each island. Perhaps this warrants it having multiple entries but regardless it is a unique case. //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 12:45, March 7, 2023 (EST)
- I've added the reformatted tables to your work on the List of Collectible Treasures in Paper Mario: The Origami King! All that's left is to reformat the Not-Bottomless Hole page (which should be the simplest) and transfer them to the individual pages. ^>^ It's been a pleasure working with you. //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 20:41, March 8, 2023 (EST)
RE: RPG lists question.
I think lists of ? Blocks would be useful regardless if the games have counters or not. Mario JC 21:10, November 17, 2023 (EST)
The black border isn't necessary. Mario JC 20:30, November 18, 2023 (EST)
Why does it need to be that resolution? It's not the original game's resolution and doing that just stretches out the image. This cropped version is good. Mario JC 20:51, November 18, 2023 (EST)
The screenshots should be accurate to the game's original resolution. If you're unable to get original-res images yourself, that's fine, upload what you have, but don't revert the ones that are already on the wiki. Mario JC 08:13, November 24, 2023 (EST)
I think the Hidden Treasures list should be a standalone rather than merged together with the non-hidden treasure boxes. It's more helpful and direct for readers who just want the locations for the Hidden Treasures. Mario JC 04:37, November 25, 2023 (EST)
One List of treasure boxes in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars page for the non-hidden treasure boxes, separate from the already existing list on Hidden Treasure. Mario JC 07:27, November 25, 2023 (EST)
Yes, exactly like that. Mario JC 20:19, November 25, 2023 (EST)
Hope you don't mind if I insert myself into this, I just want to say I think the newly created list of Treasure Boxes should take the remake into account such as using the new names and also including images from said version. All Treasure Box locations in the remake and what they give are exactly the same as the original (though two of the weapons from the Six-Door Chamber are switched), so making a list page for that version as well would just be redundant. Nightwicked Bowser 11:31, November 26, 2023 (EST)
- If you're also going to play Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, I may have another idea for something I've wanted for quite a while but can't do myself. The Mushroom Ball article could use screenshots of their locations in the remake; some of them aren't 1:1 with their locations in the original. Nightwicked Bowser 14:04, November 26, 2023 (EST)
I don't believe there's a page for those special ? Blocks. I think the list should be for the common blocks containing items (?, M, L) like the previous M&L games' lists, and can include the "switch" M/L/! Blocks and special ? Blocks as long as there's descriptions explaining how they differ. More special-function blocks like the Puzzle Blocks and those Empty Blocks can just have sections on their relevant articles and have a notice at the top of the relevant location section in the blocks list, e.g.:
- For a list of Puzzle Sack blocks, see Puzzle Sack.
Body Slam Panels aren't blocks, so they'd just get a section on their own page. Mario JC 06:13, January 26, 2024 (EST)
Just one screenshot is enough. The bottom screenshot would serve no purpose. As for the paperisation blocks, similar to above, they can be listed on the Paperize page (it can even be expanded to include other paperisable objects if necessary) and linked to on the blocks list page(s). Mario JC 06:37, February 5, 2024 (EST)
That doesn't seem necessary since they're basically the same thing across the museum. Mario JC 07:22, February 12, 2024 (EST)
The Dream Team block list is expectedly enormous. Recently there has been an effort to split large pages into smaller ones to reduce loading times on a page such as List of Super Paper Mario quotes by character (A–L). I think it couldn't hurt to have the block list split up either, my primary idea is seperate pages for real world and dream world listings. Nightwicked Bowser 20:47, April 6, 2024 (EDT)
