Goro[1] is the fourth boss that Toad faces in Game B of Round Mode in the NES version of Wario's Woods. He is a gorilla-like golem made out of an unknown rocky material.

History[edit]

Wario's Woods[edit]

Goro appears in the thirty-ninth round and has twelve hit points. His special move is a mighty stomp that brings the Thwomp on the top of the tree hollow battlefield down a few notches. He is also able to re-locate himself to any part of the battlefield through some means of teleportation and throw enemies around the field. If he re-materializes on Toad, he will instantly defeat him.

Super Mario (KC Deluxe)[edit]

Goro appears in one chapter of the Wario's Woods adaptation in the Super Mario Kodansha manga. He is summoned by Seizer in his first attempt of stopping Mario, Peach, Birdo, Wanda, and the Toad villager. At first, the heroes throw bombs at him, but he does not flinch, so Mario uses Birdo's snout to make a makeshift cannon by making her gulp bombs and then spit them out repeatedly at the golem's torso, exploding it and defeating him, much to Seizer's shock.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

Goro is faced in chapter 15 of Super Mario-kun volume 11. He is the god of Wanda's village, named after himself, where the fairies have a statue of him. Wario arrives to check on the heroes and curses the statue to attack them. While alive, Goro only speaks by grunting his name and is impervious to any of the attacks, including the bombs, so Wanda suggests using the diamonds they collected by defeating numerous monsters, but Yoshi eats them. Furious, Mario makes a projectile of the diamond-filled Yoshi, using Birdo as a bazooka, to launch him against Goro, blowing him up into pieces and forcing Wario to retreat. Without Wario's influence, the village is back to its natural state and Goro goes to sleep happily. Toad then proposes rebuilding his body, but the final result ends up with him having an arm and a leg coming out from the head and the torso not being placed.
