World 5-3 is the third level of World 5 in Super Mario Bros. and the nineteenth level overall in said game.
Layout[edit]
World 5-3 is similar in layout to World 1-3, taking place on top of island platforms. However, the moving lifts are smaller and there are Bullet Bills being fired at the player from off screen.
After a small ground area, the player will reach an island that can be used to reach two more islands, containing a Koopa Troopa and three Coins. Ahead, are three more islands, with the higher one having two Little Goombas walk along it. From the top of the third and taller island, a shorter island can be reached, and there will be a platform that can help the player reach the top of a tall island with four coins. Under this island, a shorter one contains the only ? Block of the level that contains a power-up. Afterward are two islands followed by a Koopa Paratroopa and another island with a Little Goomba. Next are two horizontally moving lifts with Coins above them. There will then be two islands, the first one is small and of medium width, while the other is wide and tall and has a Koopa Troopa on it. A short island with three coins is under a Koopa Paratroopa after it. There will be two similar islands that can be used to reach a platform that can be used to jump onto the stone platform before the flagpole.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe challenges[edit]
In Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the player can collect five Red Coins, find a hidden Yoshi Egg, and get a medal based on their score. The Yoshi Egg is found in a Hidden Block directly after the large stone structure at the end, and the score to beat is 23000. The Red Coin locations are:
- On the fourth island platform from the start
- Red Coins 2 and 3 are above the two horizontally moving lifts
- High above the platform after the previous moving lifts
- On the platform under the Koopa Paratroopa near the end
