Name in Brawl[edit]

Does it matter what order the characters come in or where they come in that determines the name on the stage? Why Bother (talk)

No, I think it's random. Mario4Ever (talk)

Brawl Stage[edit]

Shouldn't the PictoChat stage have a separate page as well as being mentioned here? I mean, PictoChat 2 has its own page, so I see no considerable reason why the SSBB stage shouldn't have a page too. Egadd.gifTheDisneyGamer 12:01, 22 April 2017 (EDT)

Does PictoChat itself really warrant an article? It seems to me that this should just be trimmed down to the Smash stage. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:35, November 30, 2020 (EST)

I think Pictochat coverage could just be add on the Nintendo DS article itself, while keeping only the information about Smash. Pictochat isn't something that is Mario-related in any form, so I really don't think having an article regarding Pictochat as a whole is necessary. So yeah, I agree to trim it down only for the Smash coverage--LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK)
The Pictochat app itself has nothing to do with the franchise, and thus doesn't fit into our coverage. Thus, this page should only have info about the stage, not about the actual app. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 12:42, November 30, 2020 (EST)
We don't have articles for other system services like this, so I guess not. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8
Partially: What I would like to do is split the service and the Super Smash Bros. Brawl stage into two articles so it could deliver an easier topic for the two pages. I don't really want to delete the PictoChat service because of the trivia reference about Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi. Any ideas? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 13:40, November 30, 2020 (EST)
A single piece of trivia for a reference that doesn't even appear in the app normally doesn't make it worthy of keeping an article. It could easily be moved to the Nintendo DS article or possibly List of Mario references in Nintendo video games. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 14:00, November 30, 2020 (EST)
You know what, you win, Waluigi Time. I shouldn't propose this with only a single piece of trivia. I'll go with your idea then. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:03, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Just the "using PictoChat" header should get removed or merged with the intro really. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 14:06, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Do you think we should really have a proposal about the PictoChat service? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:10, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Don't think a proposal is needed tbh. It's a rather simple edit to the article. The wiki can cover general information about PictoChat, and then also link it to the PictoChat header in the Nintendo DS article. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 14:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Okay. I was thinking about it because people may disagree about it. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:15, November 30, 2020 (EST)
That's fine. It never hurts to start a discussion like this before you make major changes to the article. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 14:19, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Thanks Ray Trace =). Benjaminkirsc (talk) 14:23, November 30, 2020 (EST)

We should certainly say where PictoChat comes from, but our coverage should be focused on the stage. The app information can go on Nintendo DS's article. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:35, November 30, 2020 (EST)

So coming back to this, we're all pretty much in agreement for this article to cover just the Brawl stage, right? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:07, January 10, 2021 (EST)

Proposal about removing mentions about PictoChat service[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

vetoed by the administrators
Proposal is unclear, despite attempts on proposer to expand. A new proposal can be created by someone more well-versed if necessary, but the proposed action may not need one. The conversation above is unfinished, and the proposal was hastily created.

Okay, so we are going to a point that we should have a proposal about keeping the PictoChat service, or if we need to redirect it (partially or fully). If anyone doesn't know the guidelines, this is what I am talking about.

Fully redirect: Everything mentioned is required to be redirected.
Partial redirect: Some content mentioned is required to get redirected: Examples include the overview, the trivia, etc.
Keep it: Leave the article alone

Updates here held overtime to make more sense

Proposal: Benjaminkirsc (talk)

Veto Date: December 12, 2020, 02:23 GMT

Full Redirect[edit]

  1. Benjaminkirsc (talk): I propose to redirect to Nintendo DS article section titled PictoChat.
  2. Ninja Squid (talk): Per proposal. A simple redirect to the DS article, while keeping only the Super Smash Bros. coverage seems to be the best action overall.
  3. Waluigi Time (talk) Apparently this is the option that was agreed upon in the above discussion.
  4. DarkNight (talk) Per all.

Partial Redirect[edit]

  1. Ray Trace (talk) I feel like we should keep an overview on what PictoChat is based off of in the intro with basic information pertaining to it, but sure, the extended coverage in the "Using PictoChat" section should be merged with both the intro of the article and part of the Nintendo DS article, which this article should link to in its "article about" segment on the top.

  1. Alex95 (talk) - I'm going to oppose on the grounds of there being absolutely no information here. What do you mean by redirect partially? What information would be moved off? Why would we delete it altogether? "we should plan" is not something to make a proposal about, you make a proposal when you have a plan and need to figure out a path to take on it. If you wanted a plan, the discussion above should've continued, or expand on this proposal to give details on what exactly it is you want to happen.
  2. FanOfYoshi (talk) Per Alex95.

I'm confused here, what's the difference between "redirect all mentions" and "redirect part of the mentions"? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:21, December 5, 2020 (EST)

@Waluigi Time, redirect all mentions means all of the mentioned content of the service will get redirected, and redirect part of the mentions means some of the content will get redirected. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 13:36, December 5, 2020 (EST)
That doesn't really answer my question. What is "some" of the content? Why is there even an option for only some mentions of the PictoChat service to redirect to the proper article? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 14:12, December 5, 2020 (EST)
@Waluigi Time
1. Some of the content means not all of it but may mean the overview (like Ray Trace said).
2. Because some people may want to merge some content.
Ask more questions if you need them. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 15:01, December 5, 2020 (EST)
Okay, so which option makes the article closest to how PictoChat 2 is handled (solely focused on the stage but a brief mention of the stage's origins/inspiration in the opening paragraph)? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:50, December 5, 2020 (EST)
@Waluigi Time there is no infobox on that page. Also, it includes drawings that are on the screen. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 15:56, December 5, 2020 (EST)
That didn't answer my question... --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 20:27, December 5, 2020 (EST)
Oh, shooks, I'm bad. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:33, December 6, 2020 (EST)

@Alex95 are you so confused? Now I'm confused about what you are saying. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 08:34, December 6, 2020 (EST)

I'm asking for specifics, and so was Waluigi Time. He wasn't looking for a definition on the word "some". Exactly what is your plan for this article? What content would be removed if the option of "some" is chosen? Why would we delete the article in the first place if the content still falls under our coverage? Do you have any examples, or can you make any examples, of how you want this article to look? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:13, December 6, 2020 (EST)
@Alex95 examples include the overview, the trivia, etc. I deleted the delete opinion because it was bucky in my opinion. I also removed the "plan" word because it was bucky in my opinion as well. And what the article would be when it removes the PictoChat service would make it only the Super Smash Bros. Brawl stage. Wow, I have to explain much. But do you want me to explain more? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 12:24, December 6, 2020 (EST)
Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for. Truth be told, I already knew what you meant (really could not have been anything else), but this sort of information is what belongs in the proposal. When you make a proposal, you have to be as detailed as possible to get your point across. I was trying to get you to see that, if you don't explain anything, people will have questions. So yes, I would like you to explain more, but in the proposal itself. Expand on what the options mean and why we should or should not vote for them. Tell us how you envision this article looking like. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:31, December 6, 2020 (EST)
@Alex95 you are welcome =). That is a helpful tool. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 12:32, December 6, 2020 (EST)

Anyone who further questions about the policy must look at the policy about redirecting at the top. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 12:10, December 6, 2020 (EST)

I'm still lost about what's going on here. The new "explanations" are essentially just the options reworded and don't really answer any questions. There's still no explanation on what "some" content is that would be removed. All I want is to have the page trimmed to solely focus on the Brawl stage, with a brief mention of its origins - what option do I have to vote for to get that? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:18, December 6, 2020 (EST)
@Waluigi Time, Did you read what I wrote clearly? If you want me to make the opinions more clear, fine. Then if you want to say "All I want is to have the page trimmed to solely focus on the Brawl stage" I would like for you to say that you want to redirect all of the PictoChat services mentions to the Nintendo DS article. Also, examples for the "some" part include the overview, the trivia, etc (I put it up there so it could be easier to read). If you are still confused, we can talk about it on my talk page. Beforehand, I'll clean up this proposal here. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 15:02, December 6, 2020 (EST)
So if "full redirect" removes all non-Smash content from this page, what does "partial redirect" do? You already mentioned the overview and trivia would be moved under a partial redirect, does the "Using PictoChat" section also get moved in a partial redirect? If so, both options do exactly the same thing. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 16:49, December 6, 2020 (EST)
Partial redirect partially removes some information that may not be needed from the page
Since this reaction of getting into confusion, I have to merge the "full redirect" and "partial redirect" into "redirect" to make it easier for people to vote. Deal or do you want the split it again? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 17:18, December 6, 2020 (EST)
Reverted edit because the action changed people's votes. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:21, December 6, 2020 (EST)
Oops, I'm bad. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 17:23, December 6, 2020 (EST)
