Phantom of the Opera

Has it been confirmed exactly which version of The Phantom of the Opera his name is based on? The current link leads to the 1976 musical. Mariofan1996 (talk) 21:06, April 19, 2023 (EDT)

If you mean which portrayal of the Phantom from the differing versions of the musical, I don't believe the Mario series Phantom is based on any particular portrayal. Latest appearance

Obviously we won't make any changes until the DLC's release, but considering he made simple cameos in the main game but is physically appearing in Rayman in the Phantom Show, will the latest appearance show he's in Rayman in the Phantom Show specifically or will we just remove the "cameo" part? I think an actual physical appearance would be worth updating the latest appearance even if they've made a non-physical appearance in the same game before. (EDIT: Meaning the latest appearance shows Rayman in the Phantom Show specifically.) Mario JC 07:16, August 4, 2023 (EDT)

Identifier

I'm starting to think the identifier should either be changed or removed entirely. I could see one reason for it being left alone is that he is also a boss in Rayman in the Phantom Show (the final boss no less), or we could change it to "character" since he's become quite a staple in the Mario + Rabbids games. As for removing the identifier, the only other "Phantom" page with an identifier is a Mario Kart Wii bike so we could give this page priority over that. Another one. But this one is kinda easy. There are three things named Phantom on the wiki:

1. A bike from Mario Kart Wii

2. Imposters, referred to as phantoms only by King Boo

3. And the character called Phantom, which appears in two games (more than the other two) and is the main antagonist of a whole DLC named after him.

Clearly, one of these is going to be searched far more often, and is the character Phantom.

Also, I don't know why the convo above resulted in adding "(character)" when everyone had agreed on removing the identifier.
