What exactly is this switch doing? The article says nothing about this. Time Questions 05:37, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- Yeah, Super F22 Pilot keeps making these stub articles that have no real info, expecting others to clean it up for him. -_-' User:Pokemon DP/sig
I'll fix it -_- --Luigibros2 18:22, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Conjectural and probably meant as another switch. It doesn't look good for this article.Knife (talk) 22:10, 18 January 2008 (EST)
ON-OFF Block[edit]
I think it should be called On-Off Block seeing as it's a block I AM MECHA-BOSS UNIT!
- Possibly. I think we should see what SMM2 calls it and rename it to that. B700465189a9 (talk) 09:44, 17 February 2019 (EST)

Does NSMB2 belong in here?[edit]
In short, I don't see why New Super Mario Bros. 2 has a section on this page. The object being called an "ON/OFF Switch" is simply... not an ON/OFF Switch! The other r 3 games it now appears in very obviously denote it with an "ON" and "OFF". If it's in because it hass a toggling effect when hit, then why not also include the Switch Blocks that alter tracks in Super Mario 3D World? --PopitTart (talk) 00:34, October 31, 2023 (EDT)
- Maybe it can fit in a Trivia section? I myself don't see why it is here. --

Color Switch name[edit]
Now that Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Seemingly Longest Name of any Mario Product is out, it's worth discussing the fact that the attraction "Build Away: Donut Block Maker" includes a course named "Through the Clouds with Color Switches", which heavily uses ON/OFF Switches. This actually recontextualizes Color-Switch Dungeon's name as being a lot more literal than we thought it to be, and pretty firmly suggests "Color Switch" to be a new formal name for this thing.
But, yknow, Super Mario World's ON/OFF Switches don't have much to do with color, right? They just control the direction of tracks, which aren't even indicated with red/blue lights like Super Mario Maker 2. I'm opening this discussion on whether the page should just be moved, or some other solution.--PopitTart (talk) 12:40, March 30, 2026 (UTC)
- I feel like we should wait for "Color Switch" to be used elsewhere, given that we are not entirely certain about what "Color Switch" is referring to. Though adding {{about}} to the existing Color Switch article would be good. It is likely we will not have confirmation on this until either a new installment of the Mario Maker series is released or Nintendo releases an article clarifing the new name. --TheCatLover738 (talk) 00:31, April 14, 2026 (UTC)
- Uh, it is quite certain what "Color Switch" is referring to. Color-Switch Dungeon is a level that makes heavy use of ON/OFF Switches. Through the Clouds with Color Switches also is entirely based around traveling through clouds using ON/OFF Switches. Color Switch is a new name for ON/OFF Switches.--PopitTart (talk) 02:11, April 14, 2026 (UTC)
- No, it's not quite certain, at least not in the case of Color-Switch Dungeon. Look at its NiOL section; none of the other foreign names (aside from Thai, which appears to be a literal translation of the English name) even make use of any word that translates to "switch". The only other closest we get is German, but that refers to the verb "switching" (or rather, "swapping"), which is different from a switch (as in a button or lever). We'll have to wait and see what the other NiOLs are for the Donut Block Maker level, but in the case of Color-Switch Dungeon, it's clear that in most cases, the course is NOT named after the switch blocks.
rend (talk) (edits) 05:15, April 14, 2026 (UTC) - So I decided to look for myself in the Japanese language and my native Dutch one:

Regarding "Through the Clouds with Color Switches", these ones do actually make use of their respective "Switch" words, however, I also noticed that the Japanese name calls them赤青 スイッチ (Aka-ao Switch) the same way as the Color-Switch Dungeon is being referred to as赤青 迷宮 (Aka-ao meikyū);赤青 aka-ao meaning "red-blue". I've also seen gameplay footage, and just like Color-Switch Dungeon, the level also has appearances of the red and blue Talking Flowers that change depending on the state of the ON/OFF Switch. So I'm personally unsure whether they actually changed the name of the switch, or if it's simply referring to the gimmick of the level like Color-Switch Dungeon.
Besides, the Japanese name for the Triangoline level also refers to the Triangoline as空 のトランポリン (Sora no Trampoline; "Sky Trampoline"), rather than the Japanese guides' 三角トランポリン (Sankaku Trampoline; "Triangular Trampoline", which matches the English and Dutch names much closer), so I'm not sure if we should take these names 100% accurate anyway.

- The name "Color Switch" does not suit the object very well, especially in Break Time! Lights Out. --TheCatLover738 (talk) 12:21, April 19, 2026 (UTC)
