"Under Turb's permission"[edit]
I'm assuming he's referring to Turboo (talk), but there has been no visible communication regarding that, and why is a new user making this page? When I attempted something similar, it got shot down. I'd like some Admin verification, if that's not too much to ask for. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:28, 7 February 2018 (EST)
- I'd like to apologize for the lack of transparency; this user contacted Glowsquid and I on our IRC channel, and I can get logs of our conversation if required. I was rather unsure and still am about whether it's allowed (a sortable chart on the original page might be a better solution), but there seemed to be no significant objections to him creating the page while the discussion was happening. If there are any other issues, I'd be fine with discussing it with the other admins at length. - Turboo (talk) 22:37, 7 February 2018 (EST)
Some Missing Enemies[edit]
While looking over this page I realized Klepto and Foos are missing from the Mario 64 section. Is there any specific reason for that? I'll keep looking for anything else missing in other games and update my post here. --TheAFM (talk) 09:49, July 2, 2019 (EDT)
I added Cannon, Cannonball, Spike ball which are first appeared in the Super Mario Bros 3 . Mario123456789 (talk) 02:51, February 11, 2020 (EST)
- ...those are obstacles <_> Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:11, February 11, 2020 (EST)
But in Super Mario Run enemy notebook there is a Cannonball . Mario123456789 (talk) 02:56, February 12, 2020 (EST)
- It's still an obstacle by the rawest definition of the word. Note how we don't have things like barrels in the DK section. That's deliberate. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:45, February 12, 2020 (EST)
One more thing... In DK section there is Donkey Kong which is a boss. And in Super Mario Bros. Turtle cannon it isn't an enemy... Mario123456789 (talk) 10:21, February 14, 2020 (EST)
- Donkey Kong is absolutely not a "boss" by the typical definition. While he is the antagonist, he isn't truly "battled" in any quantifiable way except in the GB remake. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:42, February 14, 2020 (EST)
Ok. But what about Turtle Cannon? Mario123456789 (talk) 12:18, February 14, 2020 (EST)
- Bill Blaster seems to be "alive" to some extent in Paper Mario games and Superstar Saga. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:19, February 14, 2020 (EST)
Oh now I understand. :) Mario123456789 (talk) 02:41, February 15, 2020 (EST)
Autoconfirm protection?[edit]
This page is a near endless target for well-meaning but misguided IPs adding things like obstacles and bosses, removing non-boss enemy characters, and adding enemies to sections after their respective debut. Should it just be protected so only registered or autoconfirmed users can edit it? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:35, May 19, 2020 (EDT)
Split history of classic enemies[edit]
vetoed by the administrators
These should be individual talk page proposals. Doing a poll proposal rather than individual TPPs is effectively circumventing the 5 max ongoing proposals limit. Please see MarioWiki:Article size; we only recommend size-based split TPPs for articles over 150K bytes. Asking folks to evaluate 25 separate articles at once is not a good use of their time.
Not long ago, a similar proposal regarding Yoshi and Donkey Kong arose . While we can't compare main characters with enemies, these enemies have a rich history throughout several games, and this will continue to grow for who knows how long . Thus , I believe separating the story from them would be the right course of action. Below, I will list the enemies.

Classssssic Comments[edit]
Thing is, some of these are featured articles (Goomba, Blooper, Chain Chomp, Wiggler, Lakitu, Hammer Bro) so splitting off the history sections of those articles will affect their featured article status. In fact, some of these splits were attempted before and were reverted for that very reason.

- Sorry for the question, but what is a featured article?

(talk) 14:16, May 3, 2025 (EDT)
- Articles on the wiki that are well written and provide solid content on the subject. MarioWiki:Featured articles lists all of them and has more info about them.

- Hmm, I see. Pardon what I'm about to say, but are they really that important? I mean, they're awarded for the excellent quality of the page, but don't you think the quality of the page will decrease as its history grows? This makes reading more complicated, especially for someone who only wanted to see a Goomba and its general descriptions. Besides, I don't see why the page should lose the "featured" if, after all, it's still well-written. It's just that its history was separated because it took up too much space.

Out of the 25 articles for which the splits are proposed, 18 of them (around three quarters!) have their byte count in the five digits, which IMO is way too soon for for a split. It also gives me the impression that (no offense) this proposal was thought out in a few minutes, and maybe it would be for the best if those options were vetoed/removed. Power Flotzo (talk) 21:14, May 3, 2025 (EDT)
- That's for the administrators to decide. I've already explained the reason for it. I have no problem carrying out separation projects, even if they're long. I've seen proposals that have even been in place since 2021, so I don't really see the downside. And yes, I personally didn't give the proposal much time to think about it, since it has the same argument as the other two mentioned: short and concise.
- Also, if you see that the option is too short to be separated, vote against it. I selected several, choosing the ones with the most appearances. I will, however, remove my vote until I see the opinions of others, since my mind is currently blank regarding whether they should be separated or not.
