Talk:Lava Lift

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

I don't think this article should be split.[edit]

The only difference is that Fast Lava Lifts move 3x as fast, are blue, and don't fall down. It contributes nothing but clutter.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by AK World (talk).

Those are actually large differences. We split Music Blocks, so these should be split too. Doomhiker (talk)Topmini.png 15:17, August 15, 2019 (EDT)
I'd rather we find a name first. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:51, August 15, 2019 (EDT)
Super Mario Maker 2 calls them Fast Lava Lifts, if I'm remembering correctly. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 20:10, August 15, 2019 (EDT)
Even though it has large differences, no more than 10-30 words can be put on the article, and the only thing that pushes these articles out of stub territory is the stuff other than the actual text/information. AK World (talk) 00:31, August 16, 2019 (EDT)
Why shouldn't it? --Toasty.jpg FanOfYoshi NSMB - Splunkin Model.png 05:10, August 16, 2019 (EDT)
Stub are only articles that lack existing information. If the page has all of the subject's information, then it is not a stub. We shouldn't not make an article just because said article would likely be small. Doomhiker (talk)Topmini.png 11:05, August 16, 2019 (EDT)
"No more than 10-30 words can be put on the article"? I don't get what you mean by that, but an article for Fast Lava Lift wouldn't have such a ridiculously small amount of words, since it appears in all the Super Mario Maker games. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 11:09, August 16, 2019 (EDT)
Honestly I think this page already covers the needed information for Fast Lava Lifts. AK World (talk) 11:55, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
Fast Lava Lifts are faster, blue, and have a unique name. Policy and common sense say we should split such obviously different things. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 12:18, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
I agree with Doomhiker and TheDarkStar, I think they should be split. If we can't reach a consensus, we can always start a proposal here. PumpkinheadGoomba.png Spooky Mario Fan MK8DX Dry Bones Icon.png 13:07, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
Probably wouldn't be necessary to start a proposal, only one user is contesting the split. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 15:59, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
I still think it shouldn't be split. I want it to have its own dedicated section but split it if you want. AK World (talk) 21:56, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
Opinion < policy. Policy says "hey split stuff that does different stuff from its derived thingy", so we follow it. If consensus has determined not to because it acts too similarly or only the Japanese name is different, we don't. Since the consensus here is to split it, we split it. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 22:24, August 17, 2019 (EDT)
I literally just said even though I don't agree with the policy, I'm fine with splitting it. I'm not still contesting it. AK World (TCE) 00:16, August 18, 2019 (EDT)
Sorry about that, your wording implied you wanted to give it a section in the Lava Lift article, which I've never seen done before (pretty nice idea though). Also, if you want to use a custom signature, you should create a sig page here, and then write {{User:AK World/sig}} (the nowiki tags are just there so you don't have to look into the page source to figure it out, they shouldn't be in the actual preferences) in your preferences (accessible from the top right) rather than using raw coding, as that clutters up the page source. Thanks for informing me of the misunderstanding. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 00:26, August 18, 2019 (EDT)
I meant if there were more users disagreeing (which there aren't), a proposal would be necessary. PumpkinheadGoomba.png Spooky Mario Fan MK8DX Dry Bones Icon.png 10:38, August 18, 2019 (EDT)
Well, there could be more users who disagree, but just haven't commented yet. I cite my opinion on the Nipper Dandelion fiasco, which I never bothered to comment on. Either way, since absolutely nobody is contesting this split, let's-a-split it. TheDarkStar MLBISBJJDarkStar.png 11:57, August 18, 2019 (EDT)

So... can someone go ahead and split it? I would but I'm not that good at wiki stuff. My edit countPinkYoshiFanMy wikirby userpage 16:54, April 23, 2020 (EDT)
