With the recent ongoing proposal for merging Ken from the Street Fighter series into List of fighters debuting in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate due to lacking significant enough appearances in the Super Mario franchise to warrant his own dedicated article, it got me thinking about the multiple Rhythm Heaven characters who currently have their own articles (specifically the Chorus Kids, the Dancing Monkeys, Harry Onion, and the Reporter & Wrestler) and if their appearances in the WarioWare series are significant enough to warrant said articles. More specifically, if any of them "make at least one appearance within the Super Mario franchise that is playable, interactable, or plot-relevant, excluding WarioWare microgames and television commercials", as is the criteria listed in Template:Crossover characters. And after closer inspection, it doesn't seem that any of them meet this criteria, as all of their appearances are either brief cameos or in WarioWare microgames:

• The Chorus Kids only make brief cameos in the opening cutscenes for Game & Wario and WarioWare: Move It!
• The Dancing Monkeys only make a brief cameo in WarioWare: Smooth Moves, merely standing next to Mona during a cutscene in Young Cricket's story.
• Harry Onion appears in a microgame from WarioWare Gold and makes brief cameos in Game & Wario, WarioWare: Get It Together!, and WarioWare: Move It! as merely a background element.
• The Reporter & Wrestler appear in a microgame from WarioWare: Get It Together! and make brief cameos in Game & Wario and WarioWare: Move It! as merely a background element.

None of these appearances are at all significant enough to warrant articles, which is the exact issue with the article for Ken from Street Fighter, as he merely appears in one panel of a German Club Nintendo comic without having any relevance to the comic's plot. And since other crossover characters who also don't have significant enough appearances to warrant their own articles simply have a section in the dedicated crossover articles (e.g. Ness and Olimar having their own sections in Crossovers with EarthBound and Crossovers with Pikmin respectively), I think it only makes sense for all the aforementioned Rhythm Heaven characters to follow suit.

It should be worth mentioning that Cicada's article will not be effected by this proposal, as unlike the other Rhythm Heaven characters, she actually plays a very significant role in WarioWare: Move It!, where she serves as an antagonist in Young Cricket's story.

1. Camwoodstock (talk) This isn't really how we handle WarioWare's background characters. Even the ones that basically only exist for one or two gags like Dr. Payne or the Archer, or the ones that just eye candy like the Ski bunnies, all get their own pages. Nevermind this is the series that made a tradition of just, inexplicably having specific alien silhouettes for its staff rolls, and those guys who don't even have names have a page. There's no real reason we can think of to merge these guys without inevitably having to merge a few WarioWare characters as collateral... But in their cases, merge to where?

These characters appear in a context that has an established precedent of warranting articles, in a way that is not the case for characters such as Ken. (I think perhaps a good rule of thumb on whether to split a crossover character could be: If this character's appearance was replaced with some generic original character, would we be giving that character an article? Here I would argue yes, Ken I would argue no.)

Hmm, not sure about this one. These characters are named in the in-game character credits (Dancing Monkeys in Smooth Moves, the others in Game & Wario) and we do have a precedent for giving minor WarioWare cutscene characters articles, like Diamond Academy Audience, Omni Nom, Winnie and Summer, etc. Since these kinds of appearances have an established precedent of being article-worthy (which minor cameos in comics, such as Ken's, do not), it feels odd to me to make an exception for these characters just because they happen to originate from Rhythm Heaven. While it's true that there is a precedent for creating articles for minor cutscene characters like the ones you've mentioned, the fact of the matter is that this isn't how we usually handle crossover characters. It should also be worth pointing out that most minor cutscene characters in the WarioWare series tend to have some relevance in their stories. Wilben (talk • edits) 11:38, August 17, 2026 (UTC)

Right, and said article-worthy roles are where they are "playable, interactable, or plot-relevant", which doesn't apply to any of the Rhythm Heaven characters listed above. Wilben (talk • edits) 14:36, August 17, 2026 (UTC)

My point is that they are equally as article-worthy as the likes of Fan Kids in the Shop, Park Street Residents, Ocktor, Sammy Rai, Peter, Citizens of Diamond City, Sasquatch Family, Papa Orb, etc. I don't see why crossover characters should be held to a different standard.
