Description
A green panel with a ! in the middle, that creates Square-shaped green panels with white borders and a face.
First Appearance	Super Mario 3D Land (2011)
Effect on Player	Creates panels to cross large pits.

Snake Panels are objects appearing in Super Mario 3D Land. They are green panels with a ! printed in the middle. When pressed, they create several connected green panels with faces, that help Mario cross large gaps or hazardous elements. After a certain time, these panels will turn dark green, open their mouths, and start to disappear. When all panels disappear, the player can step on the main panel to create the Snake Panels again.

Snake Panels appear in World 2-1, World 2-2, World 4-5, Special 2-5, Special 6-3 and Special 8-Crown.

Trivia

• Snake Panels may have been based on Snake Blocks, a common element in the 2D Mario games.
• Snake Panels bear a resemblance to Platform Blocks in appearance and functions.
• The Snake Panels in Special 8-Crown are the only Snake Panels that do not need to be activated by stepping on the main panel.
