Talk:Star (species)

The Star Sprites aren't like normal stars. They, in case you haven't noticed, are different. I think it should be split into a new page titled, "Star Sprite".Dry dry king (Talk)

First Appearance

If the infobox says that they first appear in Super Mario Bros., why there's no information about that in the History section? I think that they first appear in Super Mario RPG... Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 14:27, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Nor the Notable Stars section says something... Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 14:29, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Probably because of Super Star, as that's listed as a subspecies. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:32, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Beyond the fact that we're not supposed to use the term "sub-species", Super Stars are irrelevant to the subject of this article. It'd be best to change it to Super Mario RPG. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:39, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Is there a point where we have to make a distinction between sentient characters and items? I mean, Fire Flowers are categorized in the same category as living, sentient characters. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 14:41, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Because flowers are flowers, even if they don't display any sapiency other than blinking sometimes. Double Dash was years ago, and that was the last time "everything has eyes" was true. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:47, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Well, the mushrooms, flowers, and stars still share their eyes. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:51, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Fire Flowers are items, even the page says that, so, what's the point to put Fire Flowers under the characters category? Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 14:51, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

They aren't, they're both in Category:Flowers together. As they should be. And I subscribe to Mushrooms, Flowers, and Stars being alive because real mushrooms and flowers are living things, even if they qualify as an item. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:53, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

I'm really confused... You're saying that they're characters or living beings? Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 14:56, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Living beings. What they said earlier was that flower characters (such as Petunia and Tolielip) are categorized under Category:Flowers along with flower items (like Fire Flower and Bloom).Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:25, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Also, "Star" in Sub-species should be removed? Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 18:23, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Not ever sure what it was for, given it leads to a disambig page now. Possibly for Super Star, or the lesser Stars from Star Haven (now listed under Star Kid, I think?) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:38, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Removed it. That link really doesn't serve for any purpose. Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 18:44, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

Merge the "Star Sprite" info to Star Spirits

There's so much mingling across languages for these entities that effectively have the same role. Not only are the Star Sprites sometimes identified as Star Spirits (or star spirits), the spirit of the Cobalt Star (ie the elder Princess Shroob) is repeatedly identified as a Star Sprite despite visually being a knockoff Misstar. I think rather than being awkwardly tacked on to this page, the M&L info should be merged to Star Spirits (and perhaps have that moved to the singular).
