We should create a separate page for Anywhere POWs, shouldn't we? --Dynomite

Oppose Separation

  1. Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions)· Basically, POW Blocks with a slightly different name. This is the same for Face Block and all its other names: no need for a seperation.
  2. Cobold (talk · contribs) - Too similar and too minor.
  3. Blitzwing (talk · gnome work) - Per everyone. It's just a POW Block that is used differently.

POW Brawl?

POW Blocks appeared in SSBB, should we mention that? StrikeoutSam 09:47, 25 May 2008 (EDT)

Donkey Konga

The POW Block appears as an item in Donkey Konga, and perhaps it's sequels too. Shouldn't we mention that? --Jomingo

This may not be appropriate(at least there's no cussing), but WHOEVER CHENGED POW BLOCK INTO PRISONER OF WAR IS DEAD! THAT IS NOTHING BUT IDIOTIC! IT'S NOT EVEN MARIO RELATED!User:Dry Paratroopa/sig

I gave the user a warning and changed it back. Time Questions 14:46, 9 November 2008 (EST)

Oh... am I in trouble for yelling like that? And I wonder who that user was... not that it's any of my business. User:Dry Paratroopa/sig

I don't think you'll get in trouble for it, but you should try to stay calm. You can see any changes and the users who made them in a page's history. Time Questions 15:03, 9 November 2008 (EST)

Two Types of POW Block

The character infobox has a Red POW Block as its picture, but I'd argue that the blue version is as iconic as, if not more than, the red version. Should we change it? --TomAndTheCats (talk) 18:27, June 17, 2023 (EDT)

I say the two colors are fairly interchangeable but I can see an argument being made for the blue one since the blue one is more common of a color recently. That being said, the red one is also fairly common. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:38, June 18, 2023 (EDT)

Seperating Red POW Block from this page

With the Red POW Block becoming more common (going to appear in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, also appeared in Super Mario Maker 2 and Super Mario 3D World), I find it weird to not be its own page. I get the argument of it being just a variation, but there's tons of other pages that are also variations of others, and they only appear in one or two games (i.e. Fire Koopa Clown Car, ON/OFF Trampoline, Big Eep Cheep, Spiked ? Block, Flame thrower (Flame Chomp), Gray P Switch and in the scheme of POW Blocks: Anywhere POW, which was even discussed above). I think the Red POW Block behavior, with the examples I've shown, is different enough to make it its own page. Rodmjorgeh (talk) 16:30, September 9, 2023 (EDT) Rodmjorgeh

Support

  1. Rodmjorgeh (talk) Per proposal. There's already a page redirecting to here called Red POW Block. Stuff related to this item would be put into there.
  2. PrincessPeachFan (talk) Per proposal. The Red POW Block in NSMBU and Wonder acts completely differently from the Blue ones and we do have the aforementioned articles.

Oppose

  1. Ray Trace (talk) I have to oppose because there are too many instances of red POW Blocks that function identically to their blue variant, and it's not just in SMB2 but The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, Yoshi's Island, the Paper Mario titles, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Honestly, I think the Giant POW Block from SMB2 is more suiting for a separate article than the red one just because it's a more distinct entity more akin to the examples you listed.

Comments

So, how do we handle the SMB2 Pow Block? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 07:22, September 10, 2023 (EDT)

Well, they are indeed POW Blocks that are red, but they don't use the function from past games. The page says that these first appeared in New Super Mario Bros. 2. I guess the page could have a section like Other Appearances (similar to Eep Cheep) with the SMB2 POW Block there. Rodmjorgeh (talk) 07:28, September 10, 2023 (EDT) Rodmjorgeh

@Ray Trace I can see the confusion, but that can be fixed by adding a section named "Other appearances" like I said above. Or maybe like in Super Mario Bros. 3, the Gray P Switch, where Gray P-Switches (the castle version) act like normal P-Switch, just are gray. The SMB2 red POW Block is the exact same problem as this, yet it doesn't have a page.
