I always just called them "Nimbii." --Crazyswordsman 11:13, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

Well, there is no official name, so this one works fine. There are also a species named the Nimbi from Super Paper Mario. -- Son of Suns

Rename to Nimbus (species)

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome Their land and their leader's last names have Nimbus in them, so it's best to call them Nimbus (species).

So the current citation says not "Nimbus," but "Nimbus folk," ie, saying they are countrymen of Nimbus rather than their species itself being called Nimbus. Did the remake change any dialogue to call them "Nimbus" as a specific noun? If not, this should be moved. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:25, December 10, 2023 (EST)

It looks to me like the "folk" part isn't actually being used as part of the name and just a follow-up term from "Nimbus" to describe there being five in a room in the castle. It's not even capitalised for one thing. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 20:30, December 10, 2023 (EST)
In which case "Nimbus" is referring to Nimbus Land, not their species. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:32, December 10, 2023 (EST)
I suppose now's a good time to share some in-game quotes (from the original; remake seems to be the same here at least as far as the English text goes). If you visit Frogfucius between Nimbus Land and Barrel Volcano, he says:

〈カエル仙人〉これでマシュマロも
めでたし めでたし じゃネ。
FROGFUCIUS: Ah! Now the people
of Nimbus Land can rejoice.
(retranslated) Now the Marshmallows can live happily ever after.

If you visit Frogfucius between Barrel Volcano and Bowser's Keep, he'll say:

マシュマロの人たちなら、
クッパ城に行く 方法を
知ってるかもしれんネ。
The citizens of Nimbus Land will
tell you how to get there.
(retranslated) The Marshmallow people may tell you how to get to Koopa Castle.

So, in the Japanese version, he uses "Marshmallow" or "Marshmallow people" to describe them. English changed it to specifically refer to the people/citizens of Nimbus Land. Logically, "Nimbus" or "Nimbus folk" would work in place. If we're being super-technical, I'm pretty sure Beanish has a similar nuance. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:22, December 13, 2023 (EST)
I'll just point out "Beanish" is used clearly in-game in Dream Team. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 14:29, December 13, 2023 (EST)
