The various continents of Earth, as they appear in Mario is Missing!.

The Earth, sometimes referred to as the Real World, is a planet far away from the Mushroom Planet and is the setting of Mario is Missing!, Mario's Time Machine, and the cancelled Super Mario's Wacky Worlds. In these games, Bowser steals important artifacts from the Earth, causing chaos on the planet. As such, Mario or Luigi must retrieve these items to restore balance to the Earth.

The planet is orbited by one moon (which Mario has visited in his adventures).

Other Appearances

Various characters racing across the Earth. This artwork was made for Mario Kart DS, and it refers to the worldwide Nintendo WiFi Connection.

In Mario Party 7, while all the Boards exist in the Mushroom Planet, the Mushroom Planet (when depicted in the game) resembles Earth.

Also, oddly, Wario refers to the area below the Awazon as "deep within the Earth" in the manual of Virtual Boy Wario Land. It is unknown if he is referring to the Mushroom Planet as "Earth", calling the Awazon area "Earth", or merely referring to the soil of the Awazon.

The WarioWare series indicates that Diamond City may be located on the planet Earth, as opposed to on Mario's world (the Mushroom Planet).

A couple of stages in the Super Smash Bros. series are located on Earth, such as Onett, Fourside and Mute City.

Apparently, Earth is visited during Super Paper Mario. This is proven in Chapter 7-3, where if Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser or Luigi give Cyrrus, the cloud spirit, a red fruit, he will turn into Super Cyrus. Then he will allow them to jump on him, where they will fly up into space, showing planet Earth, then land near a door. This may mean that only the Overthere is on Earth, however, or simply that it may have been an alternate Earth or a planet which resembled it.

Appearances in Other Media

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Mario and Luigi often try to find their way back to Brooklyn (their hometown in the cartoon series) usually via a Warp Pipe. In the end of these episodes, the Mario Brothers decide to stay so they can protect Princess Toadstool and the Mushroom Kingdom. Additionally, the live action sequences take place in Brooklyn. The first and last parts of the Super Mario Bros. movie is also set in Brooklyn.

Additionally, in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, many episodes featured characters using Warp Pipes to travel back and forth between the "Real World" (Earth) and the Mushroom Planet. In the episode "7 Continents for 7 Koopas", Bowser assigns each of his seven Koopalings to take over one of the Real World's continents.

Notably, after all the trouble is undone, a screen is shown with many errors and mislabellings of the various continents.

Also, Bowser is seen in the Real World yet again in a flashback sequence from the Super Mario World episode "Rock TV".

"Dino World"

In the Super Mario Bros. live-action film, an alternate, unnamed version of Earth is revealed to exist; this parallel Earth was brought into creation when a meteorite struck the true Earth, causing spatial and dimensional disturbances, resulting in the creation of the alternate Earth, which the dinosaurs, at least those who weren't killed, and a few other creatures were flung to.

On this Earth, various types of dinosaurs evolved into humanoid creatures, though some, such as Yoshi, seemed to have retained their reptilian forms. Aside from one rundown city, this Earth is largely a desert wasteland, lacking various resources.
