Edits[edit]

Please avoid adding filler in your writing (making your writing too wordy) and changing valid words and phrases around unnecessarily (especially into a more casual tone). A lot of your edits, including your anonymous ones, have consisted of this; for example, changing "fell through" to "declared impossible" (even though that's not what they explicitly said) and "too far in" into an unnecessarily more informal "incredibly deep in", and edits here (the part about Chrom), here (which could have been cut down without the first part), and here ("fulfil the expectations and hopes of representing" is flowery writing and completely unnecessary; just say "represent"). Your rewriting of the Melee pre-release content page also removed formatting for game titles and you also forgot to italicise game titles yourself despite being reminded already. Sorry, I will not do it again. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 02:11, August 31, 2021 (EDT)

You posted on the wrong page; my talk page is the "JC" in my signature, not the Shy Guy sprite, which is a file page. To answer your question, no, calling something (an action) unnecessary is not rude, it's just saying something is not needed, which I meant with some of your edits. Calling someone would be. Okay, thanks! Because I'm starting to get so tired of my edits being called unnecessary all the time. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 08:02, August 31, 2021 (EDT)

Your edits on Chrom and Kazuya Mishima are what I'm talking about. On Chrom, you basically changed what the article already said but stretching it longer, which was what I was referring to when I said your edits are too wordy. There's nothing wrong with being concise and to-the-point without using too many words. Also:

  • "but Sakurai ultimately chose Robin instead, as he felt that Chrom would play too similarly to Marth and Ike, however, Robin would not" You added the bolded part in, which isn't necessary; it's obvious Robin was chosen because he wouldn't play similarly. Leave readers to infer from the information.
  • Similarly: "Sakurai claimed he had considered either Kazuya Mishima or Heihachi Mishima to serve as the Tekken fighter, this means he had a choice of either picking Kazuya or Heihachi" is repeating the same sentence in different words; avoid repetitive edits like this.

Also, don't italicise character names like Robin, Kazuya etc. Only the game titles are italicised. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:10, September 1, 2021 (EDT)

Same with Incineroar: "Incineroar was intended to be left out and replaced by Decidueye as the new Pokémon fighter from Generation 7, however, Sakurai decided to have a change of plan: Because Decidueye would play too similarly to an already-existing fighting style, Incineroar was used instead." - The "Sakurai had a change of plan" does not need to be there at all and makes it sound casual.

Finally, do not add information that's not mentioned in the sources you cited, please. The references don't say anything about Decidueye playing too similar to other fighters. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:29, September 1, 2021 (EDT)

I think I am taking the sources a little bit too seriously. I don't see anything wrong with the edits, it's just stretching what Sakurai said, we all make mistakes! I'll just remember that the point has been made and it doesn't need stretching. Here's what you're saying:

  1. Chrom - Chrom was just considered a playable character, but Sakurai instead chose Robin as he felt that Chrom would play too similarly to Marth and Ike, which is true, but it was stretched further.
  2. Kazuya Mishima - All Sakurai said was that Kazuya was chosen as the Tekken fighter over Heihachi Mishima, due to the Devil Gene making Kazuya stand out more.
  3. Incineroar - Sakurai never said that Decidueye was going to replace Incineroar, he just stated that he almost chose Decidueye as the new Pokémon fighter, but Sakurai chose Incineroar instead because he had never done a professional-wrestler character before. Also, there are actually very few cases of a character replacing another character, like Lucas replacing Ness in Melee, which did not happen.
  4. Solid Snake - Snake appearing as a playable character in Melee was already mentioned at the start of his own page, it doesn't need to be explained two times.

Still, your advice is perfectly taken, like always. However, please stop getting tired of giving people the same advice, it doesn't really matter that much, just have a great day! ItsMarioTime! (talk) 10:52, September 1, 2021 (EDT)

Yes, it does matter. Stretching what Sakurai said and jumping to conclusions is exactly what you should avoid, otherwise you risk spreading false information. Just paraphrase what he actually said without adding to it. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:36, September 1, 2021 (EDT)

Uh-huh, I got that. I won't spread false information again. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 01:32, September 2, 2021 (EDT)

IP talk page[edit]

Excuse me, but was there any reason you needed to make a big show of telling yourself off? Admins are able to check IP addresses of users and we know that IP is you. It's made even more obvious by the fact that the replies were instant. Stop pretending your anonymous edits are someone else's; mistakes were made, just move on. Smash Bros unused character article[edit]

The page(s) you recently created (Unused Character (Super Smash Bros.)) has/have been put up for deletion, has been deleted, or turned into a redirect. This may be because it violated at least one of the policies and/or guidelines of the Super Mario Wiki. There are some things you can do to ensure this doesn't happen again.
  1. Make sure there is no other article about the same subject with a different title, especially for conjectural articles.
  2. Make sure the article has enough information to make it a worthwhile read (i.e. it does more than state the obvious, such as "Luigi's Mansion is a mansion that is owned by Luigi"). Overly short articles are known as stubs and their creation is strongly discouraged; it is better to amass enough information to make a solid article right off the bat instead.
  3. Make sure the article is significant enough in the Super Mario franchise to have its own article.

If the article has only been tagged to be deleted you can still fix or expand it, but an administrator may delete it at any time, so please act quickly. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing!

The page is pretty much redundant because we have articles about early ideas and cut stuff for each game, which explains everything you put in that page. Also, information should not be copied and pasted straight from other wikis as this is plagiarism. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 05:19, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

Sup bro, I'm sorry. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 05:20, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

Warning; page moves[edit]

Please stop moving pages without a discussion on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Hello, please don't make major changes to page names without a discussion. For the pre-release pages, we use formal article titles by game rather than an identifier.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 09:03, September 7, 2021 (EDT)

Wow, that's unexpected. Sorry about that. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 13:56, September 7, 2021 (EDT)

I have half a mind to give you another warning for back-talking an admin like that, but I'm not going to escalate this right now over something minor.
To expand upon the reminder, we only use identifiers if something shares the same name as one another and there's no other official way to distinguish them. See MarioWiki:Naming#Shared_titles for more info on that.
Additionally, "He was also concerned about overrepresentation of the Mario series, and did not want the game to have too many Mario characters, as Wario's own game franchise didn't exist yet, Sakurai also expressed that he would have to get rid of either Mewtwo from Pokémon or Marth and Roy from Fire Emblem so that Wario could get in, but he decided not to do it." nowhere in the SourceGaming link you provided does it say any of this about Wario. Okay then, I'm sorry for that. I'm going to have to cut this out. ItsMarioTime! (talk) 14:54, September 7, 2021 (EDT)
