Candidates and Voting[edit]

Meta Knight / Superchao[edit]

I am here to announce my campaign for Director of the 'Shroom, with Superchao by my side. For those of you who don't know me, I am the current Director of the Strategy Wing sub-team, and I also have been filling in as Sub-Director while RandomYoshi (talk) has been gone. I may not have as much experience as some of the other staff members in the past, but I feel that I have demonstrated my ability to manage the paper throughout these past months, especially with Issue 117 (December 2016). Superchao is also more than capable as Sub-Director. He was the Director of the 'Shroom in 2014, and was Sub-Director for the duration of Issue 112 (July 2016), to Issue 114 (September 2016). When Pi left, all of the responsibilities of the Director role suddenly were shoved onto Superchao, and we have been working together to maintain the project.

This is something I would like to avoid. Communication is essential for this sort of project. If I ever become busy, Superchao and I can switch roles for the issue. This important factor is that so we can maintain consistent throughout the entire term. I can do the majority of the work through the first half of the year while he finishes finals, and he can help me out when I am busy getting through college in the second half. This will be established so that we can have reliable plans for the project, as well as backup plans to avoid any sort of confusion.

As for Strategy Wing, I should be able to continue operating it, but for times where I am busy, I plan to allow Superchao to fill in for that so I can focus on the paper as a whole. Again, I feel that communication is important and I will be sure to allow this throughout our staff, and readers to avoid as many bumps as possible.

On another note, 2016 has been a long year. The growth of the community project has been increasing, and Super Mario Bros. (talk) has strived for a more professional look. I appreciate the amount of time that goes into all of these sections, but I think that 2016 has tapped a lot of people out. I want to use this term to help the project feel more relaxing. I do not plan on diminishing the paper, there will still be the same quality sections, and the appealing layout that has been put into place in the past. However, since a lot of people seem to be tired, and stressed out, I do not want to pressure those people with hoards of special issues. I plan on having the traditional summer and holiday specials, but other than that, I hope to have the 'Shroom be a little more low-key. I think that a break is deserved for our staff and writers, especially after conquering many of the hardships 2016 brought.

If there is an occasion where there is something noteworthy occurring, instead of making the issue an all out special, we can just focus on having a theme for it. This will be similar to Issue 106 (January 2016), where it had a theme based on Donkey Kong, but at the same time writers are not forced to write with this theme. My main area of interest in this aspect is Issue 120 (March 2017). It would be fun to theme around 3D Mario collectathon titles since there's 120 stars in Super Mario 64, and 120 shines in Sunshine, but again, I will not force people to theme around this.

Super Mario Bros. has allowed The 'Shroom to grow to a level of professionalism. I hope to help maintain the legacy he has helped it grow to, and I also wish to create a more relaxed, and carefree environment just to give the staff and writers a little breather. In the end, The 'Shroom is a community project where we all come together and provide sections that comes from a passion of writing into it. I hope to help allow staff and writers to keep this feeling of enjoyment so we can continue to have the project be fun for everyone with the excellent quality it has had for years.
