Staff Notes

Hello there, 'Shroom readers! Welcome to our October issue! Are you scared? Well, you shouldn't be, unless you have, like... funphobia, or something. I looked it up out of curiosity and apparently it doesn't exist, so that's good.
It feels like it's been a while since we first announced it, but The 'Shroom Spooky Scavenger is finally here! It's open for all readers to play, and I gotta say, it's a scary good time. Huge thanks go out to our Programming Manager Lakituthequick (talk), without whom doing cool stuff like this would just be a pipe dream. If nothing else, it's worth checking out just to see the work he did on the scavenger site! It's really cool! But hopefully you do play the whole thing because we put a lot of work into it...
I don't have much else to talk about as far as this month's happenings - besides oodles of guest sections that Sparks will be telling you about in just a moment - so how about we peek into the future a bit? In the next issue, we'll be holding the annual Awards Director Election to see who's going to be in charge of the Mario Awards in 2026! If that interests you, now's a good time to start thinking about campaign plans so you'll be ready to throw your hat in the ring! The November issue will be here before you know it, after all, and you know what that means... that's right, one month closer to Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream!!!
Enjoy the issue... or we'll get you! BOO!

Welcome to The 'Shroom's spooky October issue for 2025 everybody! Halloween is almost 2 weeks away, but in the meantime, why not enjoy the incredible sections provided by our talented writers? We also have the spooktacular Scavenger Hunt ready to go! Can you find all of these strangely familiar specters? Hopefully you can!
What a ride I've had in the past month! Kingdom Rush Alliance released it's "Wukong's Journey" DLC, and WOW did it blow my mind! It's by far the best experience I've ever had in a Kingdom Rush game, no doubt about that. I've done everything on Impossible difficulty and uploaded a Mario reference I discovered to the wiki! I'm happy to see the positive reception it's been getting too. Twilight Sparkle also got her Halloween-themed attire, which she'll be wearing until November arrives! My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic also celebrated its 15th anniversary recently (it debuted on October 10, 2010); I can't believe time has gone by so fast...
Now, look at these guest section treats we have in store for you - a whole basketful in fact! Uh, to your eyes and mind, they are - they're not edible sadly. Most of these are from spooky specters running amok throughout The 'Shroom! At least they're contibuting the the paper, right? They're also taking over for one of our own undead writers -Boo1268!
- Sometimes, we all just want to relax on Halloween, right? Boo1268's got you covered with TV Tomorrow! Florida the Flamingo has some great TV shows for you to see in Fake News, man!
- Some ghosts are more playful than others... such is the case for Jackboolantern, who wants you all to complete a jigsaw puzzle in Fun Stuff's Pumpkin Puzzle! The real question is: how fast can you clear the puzzle? Don't take too long!
- Peepcasso the Peepa masterfully drew the appearances of the other spirits that
took overwrote several sections in Palette Swap's Ghostly Gallery! I think Peepcasso just might be the new Van Gore someday! - One of the more educated ghosts, Cackleator gives us a lecture on Dry Bowser in Pipe Plaza's Dry Bowser Data! I just wonder if he's Bowser or related to him... Nintendo made everything confusing!
- We have three guest reviews in Critic Corner! Two of them have to deal with video games.
- A horror game review? Camwoodstock (talk) speaks about the strange, yet oddly terrifying game SMLWiki.com in, well, A Review Of SMLWiki.com! Do you dare to play it yourself? I wouldn't play it - I can't handle horror games well...
- The other review is of a fan-made combination of Super Mario 63 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 titled Super Mario Galaxy 63! Hopefully Nintendo doesn't know about this, but please check out Vivavivi004 (talk)'s section A Short and Sweet Review of Super Mario Galaxy 63! before it's too late... ooooooo!
- Hailing from Undertale, musician Napstablook politely brings us ANOTHER Top 13 Spooky Halloween Songs, a sequel to 2024's Top 13 Video Game Halloween/Spooky Songs! He means no harm, and these songs do deliver! Give them a listen!
- YAY WE HAVE A STRATEGY WING SECTION TOO! Oh - - I mean... (ahem) Status the Slinker has all the tricks and hints you'll need to help Momo the cute magical cat defeat Marshmallow and his ghoulish group! Everything you need to know is found in Poltergeist Playthrough! Sorry... I like to see Strategy Wing grow... it's underrated.
I've talked for long enough. Enjoy the spooky-themed 'Shroom issue everybody! Also, happy birthday to Yoshi18 (talk), one of our 'Shroom writers!
But before you go, one last thing:
