Those moving pendulum platforms[edit]

Should we make an article on them as they are the main gimmick of this level? (besides the ! Blocks and the switch) Sprite of a Goomba from Super Mario Bros.DarkNightSprite of a Piranha Plant from Super Mario World 11:13, October 14, 2020 (EDT)

They're covered under Lift (as "Rotating Lift") right now. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:56, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
There's currently an absurd amount of different lift variations merged to that article. Probably would be easier to make a proposal covering all of them instead of a large amount of separate discussions. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 12:00, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
Problem is that name seems to come from SMBE. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:27, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
There's actually TWO names for them from the SMBE. One of them is Rotating Lift (which btw is in low caps "An athletic course in which Mario must traverse rotating lifts and stretch blocks"), the other is "Swinging Platform". It can't even be consistent. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 15:33, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
If there's no non-SMBE name then we can always use a conjectural one if needed. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 15:53, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
In the case of no names available, I think using a bad source with a [better source needed] template is better than a conjectural one imo. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 16:07, October 14, 2020 (EDT)

I'll think about making a proposal then. Sprite of a Goomba from Super Mario Bros.DarkNightSprite of a Piranha Plant from Super Mario World 13:31, October 14, 2020 (EDT)

Problem is, sometimes the "normal" lift in one game is another game's variant, like Rail Lift. Before splitting anything, I'd implore you to consider merging Flatbed Ferry and going from there, since that's just a particular design. Regardless, in my experience it is best to make a talk section on the article's talk page at least a week before attempting a proposal, so more agreement can be reached early on. Not doing so can waste a lot of time of the proposal itself. Basically, do not think "when in doubt, make proposal," instead think "when in doubt, make talk section." Looks like you already brought up the Flatbed Ferry one and FanOfYoshi (talk) brought up the lift one. Sprite of a Goomba from Super Mario Bros.DarkNightSprite of a Piranha Plant from Super Mario World 14:28, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
