I was wondering if this was artwork. SMS_Artwork_Slam-Stu.png It looked like it could be artwork but I wasn't sure.Fuzzy in New Super Mario Bros. UYoshiGo99Artwork of a Yoshi egg on a tilt. It is unknown whether this artwork was released with a certain game or not.

It likely is. Dr.Wario ''Perverse-When things are upside-down and you start to like them that way.'' 10:20, 3 September 2011 (EDT)

I don't so, just look at the wings and how its angled closest. Alien Bunny Sprite.pngL151Onnanoko

Name[edit]

Is there any reason to not move this article to Winged Strollin' Stu? It shows right there on the page that there isn't a source for the enemy being named Soarin' Stu, and also that there's a citation for this second name. I'd like to see if Toadstool Tour has it on a scoreboard. That's how "Gooble" got its name (despite how I don't think that the Toadstool Tour names are explicitly defined with anything, ie just the name is shown, and given the types of things that have names, it could easily be the name of Goop Generator or Glorpedo. But I digress. Maybe the Player's Guide? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:55, 29 September 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, perhaps in the Nintendo Power guide? When I saw people discussing Super Mario Sunshine enemy names, though, they always talked about the Prima Guide names. Still, if anyone has access to the SMS Nintendo Power guide, it wouldn't hurt to check. However, I wonder if naming policy means the page has to be moved to the sourced name until we have an official answer. Hello, I own the NP guide, and finding names in this thing is a pain because there's no uniform table for all of them (unlike the other guides). If, as the article says, the Stu only appears in two levels, then this guide is no help: Pinna Park doesn't mention them at all and Sirena Beach only calls them "little blue and pink fliers" and "flying enemies". Prima also takes priority over the other guides, so in short, this article should be moved to "Winged Strollin' Stu". Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:32, 29 September 2017 (EDT)
Ok got it! I'll move the page, then. Thanks for the info! Toad's sprite in Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle wow it's Kiryu (TC) 13:24, 30 September 2017 (EDT)
Is anyone going to check Toadstool Tour?! Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:05, 30 September 2017 (EDT)

Name theory[edit]

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo of America initially wanted to name these "Swoopin' Stu" (because that's what these things do – they swoop down at Mario), but because of a mistake in the Prima guide, it's associated with Gooble instead (which doesn't really fly, let alone swoop down); thus the creature has been known as "Winged Strollin' Stu" until the English version of the Mario Portal launched, which gave it the same name as Swipin' Stu because both creatures have the same Japanese name (somewhat similar to how both mines in Mario Galaxy 2 have the name "Mikey Mine", but the space variant was known as "Space Mine" in Mario Galaxy 1"). Of course that's mere speculation on my part, but I cannot think of any other reason but a mistake on Prima's part on why a creature that doesn't look remotely like a Strollin' Stu, nor can even fly or swoop down, is getting named "Swoopin' Stu". Perhaps, but this makes more sense to bring up under the active Gooble discussion instead of a nearly five-year one. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:29, August 24, 2022 (EDT)
I felt like this would the more relevant place to talk about the winged Strollin' Stu. But I probably should've made a new header, because I intended this to be a new conversation about the same subject (its name), not to continue from the older one. Arend (talk) 15:00, August 24, 2022 (EDT)

Location[edit]

So I know about the Winged Strollin' Stus appearing in Hotel Delfino's secret course and on the Pinna Park beach, but I can’t find the ones on Delfino Airstrip post-flooding. Does anyone know where on the airstrip I can find them? Mariofan1996 (talk) 08:34, September 22, 2023 (EDT)

I personally don't remember them appearing there. I think whoever added that may have been misremembering. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:12, September 22, 2023 (EDT)
I have checked the airstrip area myself just now and I am pretty sure there are no Winged Strollin' Stus here. I'm removing this from their page unless someone can prove otherwise — Lady Sophie Wiggler Sophie.png (T|C) 13:37, September 22, 2023 (EDT)
